It's a PS3 port to the 360, it's not going to be quite as good but you should still be able to enjoy it.

What's going to be superior about it aside from rumble?

Well the 360 is using Version 3 of the game, compared to the PS3 game's Version 2 and the arcade's Version 1. If anything, it will be better unless the engine isn't as optimised as it could be.

No 360 is using Version C which is more refined and has new combos, but each version has its own pros and cons, i think they might do some more character balancing and combo analysing. Which means timing and power of chracter might change. It doesn't mean its better, just that they've changed it to suit the arcade players more. Visually there is porbably no way that the 360 version will look as good as PS3, considering it coming out only 4 months after with about a 1 year less dev time. Physics and frame-rate and a.i still has to be fully implemented on the 360.

Neither the 360 or PS3 versions are "superior". The arcades in Japan where the game was designed for is "superior".

I'm not buying it simply because of the lack of game modes and online play. I don't have many friends or family that would play the game with me much so it would be a waste of 65 dollars on my part. I'll just rent it or wait until it hits the bargain bin.

Great review and I love the online rant the reviewer made the moment the issue came up. He was exactly on the ball with his comments towards Sega's refusal to put in any online features. Aside from that, it looks like it continues the VF tradition of offering a great and deep fighting engine. At least there is one studio within that mess of a company that can still make great games. How about if you follow that same route, eh, Sonic Team?

I don't care for this whole online craze with these review sites. They seem to pick and choose when it bothers them. The Wii Madden had no online but received the highest score. Online football is a better fit than online frame fighter. The way this game is designed and has been designed from the start is not applicable to online. Its all about the frames for this game and do you honestly think your internet connection can deliver 30-60 frames per second at a 100% rate. I seriously doubt it. I hope they don't review Solitare poorly because it has no online.

The thing is that you may not care but everybody else may care. As the reviwer stated, to have a feature removed because 10% of your potential buyers would cry foul is just idiotic, especially when the feature can easily be ignored by those same whiners.

I play FNR3 online...and at times the lag is horrible, just think of how VF5 would be.I think that by the time VF6 hits, online will be more stable.

Ok so get this scenario. Sega puts in Online play for VF5 and it is absolute garbage. Cocky reviewer who knows everything then scores the game lower based on the fact that online play is stinky and basically useless. Now Sega has a game that is reviewed poorly and it hurts sales. Sega knows this game better than any of the reviewers or people on this board. If they say that online play cant be done properly I respect that and I feel they should be able to deliver the vision they had for the game. Should bands have to put crappy radio friendly songs on CDs just to appease the masses and their record labels or should they be able to release material for the fans? I choose option 2.

Their numerical score should be representative of the written or oral review, and vice versa. If it isn't, they're not doing their jobs.

That scenerio really doesn't make sense because, in truth, only hardcore gamers listen to reviews. Want proof? 50 Cent: Bulletproof and the Matrix games are proof.

Anyways, your situation calls for events to happen that are not guaranteed, especially the "cocky reviewer who knows everything." Newsflash: There are 1001 other reviewers out there. The review of one person is not going to break every other review on the game. In all seriousness, your situation is just grasping at straws to support your stance.

The fact is that every online game has lag. If people who are not the whiny hardcore VF fans don't mind, why deprive it from them? I don't see people ripping apart games like DoA 4 and Capcom vs SNK 2 for having online with some lag. If Sega still wouldn't put in online, the very least they could have done was insert online features to build up a community. Since Sega dropped the ball in that department, there is no real reason to protect them from any criticism.

I suggest both of you get some friends. You know the kind that show up to your house. All of the greatest Fighters ever have had 0 online modes. Just because DOA4 and Capcom vs SNK 2 had online doesn't mean that the whole fighting genre is dead without it. If you knew 1 shred about how the fighting engine for games like Tekken or VF work you wouldn't even be complaining about no online. They don't work. I have had enough of this thread, it isn't like 1 person is going to reverse the strangle hold that xbot live has on you.

I choose option 2.iwo4life

I can see a game like Oblivion or Dead Rising maybe not having online, but a fighting game with no online is just a rental or bargain bin material.Jack-Thompson

If a game isn't long like Oblivion and lacks online then it's not worth playing it, online gaming is the now and the future. Without online(and this comes from a ex-pc gamer) games get boring way too fast and are not worth 60 bucks.

At least the 360 version will have rumble which is a big part of console gaming.

P.s. Me and my friends enjoy playing over XBL and these are my offline friends, not to be confused with your Myspace buddies.

why do you care about score so much if its better than all of the fighting games in the genre?

I suggest you pull your head out of the ground and understand that people aren't always available. You must be a teenager still in high school, correct? Well I'm 23 years old. Guess what my friends are doing most of the time? Work, work and more work. If they are not doing that, they are tending to their families. If I hang with them, we do it outside of the house, not in.

Again, I stated that if an online game does not have online play, they must have online features to help build a community. Also, I know that games like Virtua Fighter 5 and Tekken CAN work because not everybody cares about lag. The hardcore can spend the time to go to tournaments and the such while ignoring the feature. For the rest of us, that's simply not possible. Just because past fighting games lacked online doesn't mean we should go in this generation without online. It's called progression. There is a reason why fighting games are seen as the bottom of the barrel and that's because of the lack of progression in the genre. As it was stated in the review, the genre is simply dull when played alone.

I didnt think i was a shallow gamer but i watched the review and found the character designs pathetic and boring. Then i heard the voices which made me cringe.

So based on looks and sound alone i will avoid this game. It just looks boring and has no style, imo of course.

I posted this in another thread but didnt get a responce so hopefully someone can answer it for me here. I dont really understand why Sega and other game developers dont put an online mode in their fighting games. Sure they say they dont wanna ruin the experience because the gameplay will be laggy, but I just dont believe that. I mean look at games like RFoM and GeOW. They have way more action and things going on yet I rarely experience any kind of lag. So how can a simple one on one fighting game be so taxing on the network that it would lag so horribly? So unless I'm missing something here I'm gonna have to call it lazyness on the part of the developers.

it probably scored a 9.1 because of the lack of online. it does say VF5 is still king of the fighting games. if it had online, theres no question VF5 scores on gamerankings would be over 90%.

Can't wait till the superior version comes to 360.

It's a PS3 port to the 360, it's not going to be quite as good but you should still be able to enjoy it.

Physics and frame-rate and a.i still has to be fully implemented on the 360.

they ll be almost the same

I didn't want to come back to this thread but this is an ignorant post and you are going to get some right back. Perhaps your friends don't like you enough to hang with you. I love how you would attack my age. I am older than you are. However you are so mature that you have to play video games online all the time no matter how bad it turns out. If my friends aren't available I don't play fighting games. Simple as that. Do you complain that those Wii and GC party games aren't online? I have people over from time to time to drink, or have some fun before we go out. Thats when these games are fun. Playing against some anonymous idiot online where half of your moves don't work as expected and you can't counter properly sounds really fun.
