[QUOTE="iwo4life"][QUOTE="Redmoonxl2"][QUOTE="iwo4life"]Ok so get this scenario. Sega puts in Online play for VF5 and it is absolute garbage. Cocky reviewer who knows everything then scores the game lower based on the fact that online play is stinky and basically useless. Now Sega has a game that is reviewed poorly and it hurts sales. Sega knows this game better than any of the reviewers or people on this board. If they say that online play cant be done properly I respect that and I feel they should be able to deliver the vision they had for the game. Should bands have to put crappy radio friendly songs on CDs just to appease the masses and their record labels or should they be able to release material for the fans? I choose option 2.Jack-Thompson

That scenerio really doesn't make sense because, in truth, only hardcore gamers listen to reviews. Want proof? 50 Cent: Bulletproof and the Matrix games are proof.

Anyways, your situation calls for events to happen that are not guaranteed, especially the "cocky reviewer who knows everything." Newsflash: There are 1001 other reviewers out there. The review of one person is not going to break every other review on the game. In all seriousness, your situation is just grasping at straws to support your stance.

The fact is that every online game has lag. If people who are not the whiny hardcore VF fans don't mind, why deprive it from them? I don't see people ripping apart games like DoA 4 and Capcom vs SNK 2 for having online with some lag. If Sega still wouldn't put in online, the very least they could have done was insert online features to build up a community. Since Sega dropped the ball in that department, there is no real reason to protect them from any criticism.

I can see a game like Oblivion or Dead Rising maybe not having online, but a fighting game with no online is just a rental or bargain bin material.Jack-Thompson
I suggest both of you get some friends. You know the kind that show up to your house. All of the greatest Fighters ever have had 0 online modes. Just because DOA4 and Capcom vs SNK 2 had online doesn't mean that the whole fighting genre is dead without it. If you knew 1 shred about how the fighting engine for games like Tekken or VF work you wouldn't even be complaining about no online. They don't work. I have had enough of this thread, it isn't like 1 person is going to reverse the strangle hold that xbot live has on you.

If a game isn't long like Oblivion and lacks online then it's not worth playing it, online gaming is the now and the future. Without online(and this comes from a ex-pc gamer) games get boring way too fast and are not worth 60 bucks.

At least the 360 version will have rumble which is a big part of console gaming.

P.s. Me and my friends enjoy playing over XBL and these are my offline friends, not to be confused with your Myspace buddies.

correction- short games without online. Its mandatory that fighters, racers, and the normal forbidden>

I didn't want to come back to this thread but this is an ignorant post and you are going to get some right back. Perhaps your friends don't like you enough to hang with you. iwo4life

Incorrect. We hang out in other places that's not the house. Good to see you can read just fine.

I love how you would attack my age. I am older than you are.iwo4life

Good to know. I was just assuming, not attacking your age. Normally people who are older tend to have more things to do, which is the point I try to make on my initial thread.

However you are so mature that you have to play video games online all the time no matter how bad it turns out. If my friends aren't available I don't play fighting games. Simple as that. iwo4life

You make it sound like everybody who plays online is incapable of playing video games to begin with. Nice to know you're capable of such well balanced arguments.

Anyways, I like video games and I like fighting games. Never did I say otherwise. I simply stated that my friends have grown out of that and are incapable of devoting any time for video games since they have other things to do. Nice to know you are following along.

Do you complain that those Wii and GC party games aren't online? iwo4life

Because party games and the Wii/GC are not the issue. Plus I'm not a party game fan.

I have people over from time to time to drink, or have some fun before we go out. Thats when these games are fun.iwo4life

Good to know that people are different. I have fun with my friends my way while you have fun with your friends your way. Still doesn't change teh fact that online gaming is a huge step for gaming and that it eliminates the issues that offline multiplayer brings. Personally I would not pay $600 plus another $60 to play a game at least once or twice a week in a 30 minute span. That's a waste of money.

[QUOTE="iwo4life"]Playing against some anonymous idiot online where half of your moves don't work as expected and you can't counter properly sounds really fun.

Aren't we Mr. Assumption? The fact is that if you don't want to play online, you don't have to. However, just becauseyou don't want online doesn't mean the feature should be absent for the rest of us.

And you call my post ignorant.

Probably the most arbitrary and least meaningful part of most reviews... Can't imagine why a guy like you would make that your primary focus.

They said VF5 is the Best fighter Out.It lost points for not being Online.ragrdoll21

Well that's what I was trying to indicate, VF5 received almost as good of a score as DOA4 (9.1 vs. 9.2), without online play.

There's no screens for the 360 version. Sites reuse pictures.

I remember how Virtua Fighter 4 was re-released with the new "Evolution" tag with extra features. If we're lucky, the 360 version may be released with such extra features.

Or a straight port from the arcade. Which the PS3 version lacks some of it.

Oh well. I suggest you don't buy this game then. I am not a salesperson for Sega or Namco. Enjoy DOA5 and Capcom vs SNK 3. They should be fun online....I guess.

Just because DOA4 and Capcom vs SNK 2 had online doesn't mean that the whole fighting genre is dead without it. Again, I stated that if an online game does not have online play, they must have online features to help build a community. Also, I know that games like Virtua Fighter 5 and Tekken CAN work because not everybody cares about lag.

Your right in the sense that not everyone cares about lag, but the lag can still ruin or at least cause significant problems for players. Sure, you can just come out and say "Eh, I don't mind a little lag. That's fine with me." They go ahead, put online, and then when those same players end up having problems, they'll go ahead and criticize the online anyways, or talk about how they don't play online anymore, etc. I understand your frustration about VF not having online play, but one of the reasons why it's arguably the best technical fighter than any other is because of it's precision and timing. Even the slightest lag will hurt your play, more so than in all other fighters.

I have to believe that the 360 version will have some online features, because I just can't understand why it's gonna take 6 months just to port it to the 360.

It wasn't a comeback. I am not doing bits here. I just know that there is nothing more to say about the issue. Even if I had absolute proof that any of these games would be a detriment online and would actually make the game as a whole worse. You still wouldn't believe me. Whats the point?

That's not a worthy come back. Because according to reviewers VF5 controls better on arcade stick.

"The controls, as ever, are rapid-fire and responsive -- at least when the PS3's Sixaxis Bluetooth controllers aren't having data-transfer farts. The Sixaxis, it should be said, is just not up to to the task of letting players input the required motions to pull off some of the game's most powerful moves. If you have the means, absolutely do import either the Hori Real Arcade Pro stick for PS3, or Sega's own High Grade arcade stick (at least, once Sega of Japan has ironed out the stick's technical issues). VF5 definitely controls better with an arcade stick."

First off, I am an Assassin on the game with the SixAxis

No problem winning over 315 wins, 2 losses.

1up definately is retarded in this respect. If you played VF4, you would know 1up screwed up.

Secondly, Of course an Arcade stick overall would be better, but that's an extra $65-$85, and you need two if you want a bud to play with you, so...yeah, it's quite the comeback.

At least with the PS2/PS3 the Dpad is great, so no worries if you don't buy an Arcade stick.

Not many people buy Joysticks, unlike me (I own 2 Xbox Sticks, and 4 PS2 sticks), most just buy the game, and REQUIRING a joystick purchase is not good because of a faulty Dpad.

I would like to own it on 360 too, but I am dissappointed By M$ Dpad, as the rest of the controller is outstanding.
