Vote for the BIGGEST FLOP of 2007 (poll)

I struggle to see how Mass Effect, a game that Gamespot described as " A terrific role-playing game with great production values and fun, exciting action," with great acting, and engaging storyline can be voted by anyone other than fanboys as the biggest flop. The only criticisms I have read are a number of technical issues.

Compare this to Lair, a game hyped highly that delivered nothing except amusement among forum goers. Or perhaps the cautiously hyped R+C, during a time when PS3 owners were more hesitant to hype their games here following a string of flops. Yet it still managed to flop. Among many other forums R+C recieved huge hype, but just a cautious AA here which it still failed to achieve.

But there is only one winner, Lair by a long shot. Any game that moves from being a game that many can't wait to play to one with an unaminous agreement among reviewers that it isn't any good is head and shoulders above any flop this year.

I can't coun the amount of times people have attempting to put ME over Super Mario Galaxy, before it was released.

Suffice to say, those who did hype ME to that extent, should have custom made owange sigs, warning other users to play a game after it is released, before making some lofty claims.

I'm right here, and accept what you've said. However even our biggest flop is only an 8.5...I'll take that any day.

Just like Lair was supposed to finally put to rest every single concern about the Playstation 3....have better graphics than Gears, and revolutionize ALL gaming as we know it by making the Cell viable?

Those who voted Mass Effect, let alone even CONSIDERED voting...what a laugh. Unlike Lair, at least ME is fairly playable.

Thats the problem with system wars, anybody with basic math skills could tell that Lair is the biggest flop of the year(8.5-4.5=4;while ME 9.5-8.5=1) yet 35 people can't tell that. That's pretty sad.

The problem with your way is that ME was not only hyped AAA, but GOTY and a game that would revolutionize the RPG genre. Lair was only hyped AA and a game with great graphics and good gameplay.

ME was definately a huge letdown, as it should have been a system seller. Lair was never called a system seller, just a game that would show off the PS3's graphical capabilities.

HELL NO. you have to go by the majority...there is absolutly no way that a majority of 360 fans hyped this game AAA GOTY and believed it would revolutinize the RPG genre. You can't use a few dumb 360 fanboys to represent everyone...that's absolutly rediculous.

There were plenty of ps3 fanboys that called out Lair/heavenly sword for GOTY....that doesn't mean it's the official hype.

The whole "official hype" system is extremely flawed to the point that it's almost laughable.

Uncharted for example. Cows filled system wars with posts like "UNCHARTED = AAA for sure! Best graphics/ best animations...destroys GEARS!"...and then in the official hype thread most people choose "AA". It's rediculous.

Compared to ps3 fans, 360 fans are the only ones with theballs to hype there games confidently. PS3 fans just take the safe "AA" and hope that the game still reaches AA status....LAIR.....MOTORSTORM

Calling Mass Effect the biggest flop of the year is laughable. It was only .5 below it's hype on GS and it got much better reviews everywhere else. Lair was a MUCH bigger flop....and if the "official hype" method wasn't so flawed then there would have been many more.

That is because cows are gun shy of hyping anything that is not MGS or FF as AAA because they have been owned so much this year that most have suicide threaded there way out of GS. I hyped ME AAA and I lost, at least I am man enough to say I was wrong and even though I think ME is the best game I played this year it does have bugs that I can only hope will be pached by the new year.
