cost of developing tools for developrs
and you all not smart enough to LOOK AT PRICES
or news since its already been liek this since 360 was out
This topic is locked from further discussion.
The reason PC games arent going up in price is cause, if they charged any more it would drive more people to pirate. Most of the people i know know pirate anyways, and iam sure if PC games were 60$ a pop it would drive even more people too. Same thing with game updates and "most" micro transactions. otakuspeedvibe
actually its because PC devs dont pay royalty fees.
and the reson DLC doesnt excist on the PC, is because through Mods, players can make their own content for games.

I'm a teenager, and I've got websites and planned out my future life. Looks like I'll only have $90 disposable income every two weeks to myself :( I kinda spend that much every 3 days...
Heck I'm lucky to earn 20 bucks every week or two..I was sitting here seeing how much trade in credit I can get on gears or graw 2 or how much I can sell them on ebay because I wanna start pre purchasing some games now. Such as Blue dragon, halo3, eternal sonata and Too human since there being released really soon. Than as i was adding them up I was like hold on why are next gen games 60 bucks again?? I never got a clear cut answer from anywhere as to why. I never really thought about it until now that major 360 games are gonna come avalanche our asses soon. So why??bigboss5ak
Hey its business, I have seen a lot of posts of this type. Why are people so surprised? Last I recalled every generation that has passed accessories, and games have gone up from the previous gen. I mean its pretty simple logic, millions of people will pay $60 so why will a buisness lower when they know they can get $60?
[QUOTE="Hewkii"][QUOTE="HappyInvader101"]because games have been 50$ for too long?GundamGuy0
I thought the N64 ones were $60...:?
I never payed 60 for a n64 game.
Doesn't mean there weren't $60 games :|
Ocarina of Tme was $70.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="osirisomeomi"]Because games cost more to make. A lot more. And, in Sony's case, they're using BDroms, expensive disks for now.KungfuKitten
I've asked the same question here once, and someone answered me "console license". Apparently the console devs eat about 10$ a game for it to be released on their system. Or so.
Btw there was a good discussion about this on gametrailers, lets see whether i can find it again.
Here. And the other parts of Episode 3 are about money too. Might be interesting.
Thanks, shall watch it.
They are near their cheapest now, not to mention they're getting more complex and... well... they're games, not necessities. Stop complaining, get some perspective, and learn economics.
Then again, them PC games keep getting cheaper and cheaper and cheaper... hermits and us people who do purchase the occasional PC game have it good.

That's exactly why I'm *extremely* picky about what games I buy now, and I'll definitely be buying fewer games this gen because of the increasing prices. I don't like sending the message that they can keep increasing the prices of games...especially if the only thing improving is the graphics.

you call $60 expencive? then what about $87? thats what they cost here in nz ($120nzd) and $526 for x360 ($720nzd) $876 for ps3 ($1200nzd) while pc components cost bascily the same as in usa and come out at the same time unlike consoles.
they're $60 because we're all idiots who are willing to pay it regardless. Games have been more expensive in the past (Neo Geo, N64). But the fact that PC versions of many of the same games we're shelling out $60 for are between $40-$50 suggests to me that we're simply getting screwed.
you know the real reason pc games are cheaper? no hardware cost to be made up on software.last gen they came down by end of 2003 as maybe end 2009 they will be cheaper. see pc gaming may look epxencive to all the console sheep but over time the cost of games pays itself back. buy 10 x360 games a year and you have paid for a mid range graphcis card in the extra you have spent over the pc version
If PC games rose in price in a way commensurate with console games, I'd be okay with it...but the disparity there is questionable at best...scandalous at worst.
