Other than Crysis, MGS4 deserved the award.

Buuuuutttt, Crysis should have got it easily.

Bacause graphixxx are more then just high def textures. it is animation, mashes, lighting etc. ANd in the end the overall composition of all the elements.

I found MGS4 to be more impressive than Gears 2. As for why it beat Crysis, maybe it's because Crysis released the year before and it would have been cheesy snubbing MGS' technical achievement in favor of a rehash (sorry) of last year's game. Crysis already received it's accolades.

Is this the MGS4 I am playing right now that won best graphics for 2008? How did it beat Crysis Warhead let alone Gears 2. The graphics aren't bad but Crysis Warhead? Why did MGS4 win best graphics? That is absurd. I was expecting to be blow away by MGS4's graphics but it looks like junk.

Chutebox
Sins of a Solar Empire released that same year, and that game is a technical behemoth at times. So no, even with Crysis Warhead out of the picture, it still wasn't the most technically proficient game that year. Far Cry 2 on PC is also an exceptional looking game, along with Assassin's Creed. Clear Sky also comes to mind which blows MGS4 out of the water.
