it play movie, music, you able to surf the web and most importantly play games.. and the ps3s comes packed with all the latest technogoly that will set you up for next gen gaming..and payin $479 + for somethin that can break down on you and not fully ready for next gen is a load of crap..yes im talkin about the 360..i heard people have to pay extra 140 dollars to get their 360 fixed..so you pay almost over 600 dollars on your 360..plus payin for live services and all these adds that is over price..i am glad i dont own a 360..

THe difference between the X36 the PC and PS3 is that both the PC and 360 already have a good library of games and more games coming out that make it worth it. The PS3's library is very lacking at this point in time.

I was countering you, I was agreeing with you and adding on.  I was saying that we all know it is NOT a toy.

The ones trying to downplay the PS3's abilities are the ones who have it twisted.

Video gaming is a hobby.  And even with the PS3 at $600 it represents a very cheap hobby.  I can't think of many hobbies where the most high-end piece of equipment is $600.

In addition to gaming I also golf and scuba dive.   I just spent $400 on a new driver and $350 on a regulator.   Most hobbies are expensive.  Gaming is no different. 

I'm not a fan of the price either. I'll enjoy Playstation 3 when it's much much cheaper, and when MGS4 is released. $299 sounds fair-ish.

I think u are mistaking the ps3 for an xbox 360 as a toy, because last time I remember I can watch my blu ray movies on my ps3. I can also browse the net with my ps3. I also can play games on my ps3. I dont see how the ps3 can be a toy. I own an xbox 360 but after seeing this -->http://www.gamerawr.com/2007/03/30/3-dead-360s-in-one-apartment/ in my mind that is a toy considering three of the same toys broke in the same house. I am not a fanboy, I am a realist. I cant wait to play mass effect, lost odyssey, halo 3, mgs4, gran turismo 5, heavenly sword, ninja gaiden sigma, lair, killzone 2, and more to come. :)

SO a 360 = 400.00 plus HDDVD = 200 = 600.00 oh wait let me get an elite for 470 plus 200 for HDDVD cause i have a HD TV AND I WANT HDMI hook up = 670.00 without cables. yeah you dont have to get the hd for games and you dont need the elite. as of right now.  i guarantee you in the next 3 years you will required to get the hd cause you can only compress dvd9 files so much. id rather pay 600 for a system that has all this already.  Maybe i am blessed to have the money and it made more sense since i have a 1080p tv.  If its too much too for people then just wait till it come down in price.

It's only going to get worse, video games are no longer children's toys anymore.

In the Next generation the Xbox 720&PS4 are going to be at least $700

I agree, but guitars are different than video games. A guitar is like a piece of furniture, that can last indefinitely, and in time can actually increase in value (just try to see how much vintage 1950 and 1960s Stratocasters are now). Video games only last a few years until they are replaced by a superior version, and then they are disposed of in thrift stores for $8 (I see PS1s and N64s all the time in thrift shops).

I spent over 3000 on mydumset. why not the 600 on a drum set? quality. the difference in sound. same thing said for the ps3.
