It just dawned on me today that the PS3 has pretty much outsold the 360 every single month this year aside from April where the 360 outsold it by a very very small margin.. I can definatley understand why the PS3 would outsell the 360 from here on out considering MGS4 is out and the 80GB model is back with MGS4 bundle and dualshock 3. BUT the last few months the only PS3 SKU on the store shelves here in the US has been the 40 GB model and NO good PS3 exclusives have hit yet.. So is it because the 360's hardware issues and people are tired of it, or because of blu ray officially winning the next gen format war, I did notice sales really picked up when that happened.. But in all seriousness, the 360 has a very good game library, why has it been getting outsold?!

No it did not. MS made that up when they saw the NPD's early and decided they had shortages to show why the PS3 outsold the 360. The Wii has shortages and outsells everybody.
The picture gets bigger when you factor in worldwide sells.
How come when I was saying (months and months ago when the PS3 was epic failing in sales compared to the 360) that in the long run, the PS3 would beat the 360 simply based on brand loyalty/brand power and I was called stupid and treated like a blind Sony fanboy, and now that it's actually happening, everyone says it as if they thought it the entire time. :? I know I'm not the only one who thought this, but I was at least vocal about it when Sony's brand name wasn't giving them sales in the beginning.

LMAO that was hillarious.. WOW how things have changed, I remember the PS3 couldnt even break 100k consoles a month and the 360 was a beast.. Now the 360 is down there in PSP/PS2 land and the PS3 outsold it by 20 thousand units last month WITHOUT the 80GB OR MGS4! Id love that issue of EGM "battlestation" where it shows the tomatoe being thrown at the PS3 that came out a year or so ago, my how things have changed in such a short time

:o you don't know? In Japan, at the same time of Metal Gear Solid 4, Lair was a huge hit, so Lair pushed the consoles in Japan, not MGS4!!

Brand loyalty is a simplified way of saying Sony has always delievered quality hardware and games, as well as support and commitment to its investors and fans to the extent that people will buy a system because they know sony will give them what they want. Its not like people buy crappy things because of a name, especially this late in the game. Doesnt GC get a lot of hate? Nintendo is a brand that may or may not have had a few loyal followers and yet...

Until I Tekken 6 and GOW3 hit shelves, its probably going to remain that way. Also why should anybody be shocked that a system starts selling well after a price drop, getting rumble back, and getting a beefed up gaming library with less halfarsed ports?

It personally doesn't matter if you believe me or not.thats your choice m8. I can't stand by this bit of info here, and before you try to use MGS4 on me, even without a 10 game like MGS4, My console of choice, Wii, is still mopping the floor with the PS3 and 360 combined.
I honestly think the PS3 pulled a Barack Obama... What I mean is how back during the first democratic primary in Iowa Obama shocked the nation by winning the Iowa caucus and he gained more and more momentum from there and the rest is history. My point is i think it all has to do with blu ray winning the format war. I mean Remeber it was Jan 2nd of this year that Sony oficially won the blu ray war and warner defected to blu ray exclusive, from there I noticed month after month more postive PS3 news came out, the media was more friendly to it and the sales just started improving from there on. When sony won the blu ray war it happened so much sooner than people thought and happened overnight and really took tons of people by suprise

In my neck of the woods it had the shortages before it was announced, I would have loved not to had to waste the gas and time to drive out of town to find one. now that I think of it, I did lie.. we didn't have any PS3's either. All we had was one gamecube at that time. I think they all had shortages, tbh.

There are a lot of attractive games on the PS3 and coming to it in the future. After R&C, Warhawk, & Uncharted.... the PS3 became a really attractive gaming console... the sales spiked back then and continued to flow pretty well. Whereas sales of the 360 pretty much began to fade again after Halo 3. Even when looking at the game media... there just is not as much to get excited about on the 360 for this year.
The PlayStation brand name would be a factor. Just like how the PS2 completely destroyed the original Xbox in sales, even though the Xbox was a great console. IMO the PS2 was better, by not by so much that the Xbox deserved to be outsold by such a gigantic margin.
As soon as the pricepoint got adjusted and good games started coming things started to improve , and that came at a good time as ps2 owners were looking for a good console and something they culd trust in. Plus the 360 won't do anything in Japan and a lot of European countries refuse to buy it as well so it is rather unfortunate for the 360 and beneficial for the ps3. The mass majority of people looking for a console right now probably don't care if PDZ scored AAA and Kameo was AA and on Gamespot.com way back when or care about a lot of the 360's early games (they were playing better games on ps2) ...... it is all about what have you done for me lately and what is coming up that they know they will love.

I understand that here in SW everything revolves around Gamespot reviews and all games are crop unless they are rated by Gamespot to be 9.0 or better. However, in the real world (IE the one where people actually BUY things) things don't revolve around Gamespot's reviews. TONS of people loved games like Uncharted and Ratchet and Clank. I know that means nothing in terms of SW but please keep in mind that SW is it's own little world that really doesn't matter when it comes to the world we actually live in.

All people loyal to one brand are missing out. If you're a Microsoft loyal fan, you don't get MGS4. If you're loyal to Sony you don't get Gears of War 2.
That said, putting gamespot's scores asside (because that doesn't really matter to the average consumer out there) can you really denny that PS3 has some great exclusives? Ratchet and Clank? Uncharted? Resistance? Warhawk? I think saying that it's all just brand loyalty is just another way of trying to overlook and denny everything that the PS3 has to offer. Microsoft fans want to say Sony sales are all brand loyalty because they can't stand to admit that PS3 has a good line up of games. Sony fans want to say Microsoft sales are all brand loyalty because they can't stand to admit that Xbox 360 has a good line up of games.

Missing out on What? Im Happy with my purchase, Not everyone likes Halo, gears and Forza :?. Open Your eyes and realize that other games have different tastes for games.
