The vague hashtag that just says #neverbuydigitalNintendogames doesn't tell me anything further other than give me the idea of "never buy anything digital from Nintendo", which could mean never buy their stuff on ANY digital service period (like if you're boycotting them like I currently am EA products since 2013, temptations to play DA:I aside) and no, the #gothirdparty and #stopmakingshittyhardware alongsidedidn't specify what you're saying either, because if they were to play that game of chance, they might go retail (and the less I say my views on IF they do that, the better for both of our sanity).

I feel bad for yelling because you clearly have real problems understanding stuff.

In nice terms: "I'm not going to buy any more Nintendo digital products (regret buying MK8 digitally) because their current account systems are awful. I would LOVE to buy EVERYTHING THEY MAKE on Steam if that was possible, as I would have permanent access to it and would not worry about a broken system losing all my games"

Did Nintendo try to solve a problem that didn't exist, or were people really losing their SD card doors and/or memory cards? The door on the 3DS is absolutely fine.

No need to repeat what you said (and no need to tone it down, I'm used to being called an idiot or moron by now, mostly by LordQuorthon). I get it now. Just not the first time when it sounded off.

I guess the hardware engineers from Microsoft had a hand in this, they like non removable storage media in their consoles.

Well yeah, it still has a Nintendo logo on it.

The PS2 still had a Sony logo on it and I still took it apart and fixed it. Same with the 360, and Saturn. Just because it says Nintendo on the system doesn't mean I have no issue with it. I have no issue with it because this stuff happens to almost every gaming console. To me its no different than when I had to upgrade my N64 or set up my Gameboy Player for GCN. Or cleaning any console. Or upgrading HDDs or replacing a battery on a cartridge or handheld. Its been a part of everyday gaming life for years but people are acting outraged now.

Depends where you draw the line. This isn't "fixing" it, this is basic everyday functionality.

Thankfully I won't be changing the SD card out often. If it doesn't come with one I have extras I use for video work. I can probably put one in and never need to change it again. Though I can see this being a concern of great frustration for many. Luckily I have sets of precision screwdrivers if that's what it'll take. Though, for anybody without one finding a precision screwdriver set can be hard. RadioShack does't carry the good cheap ones like they used to, instead last time I went to get one their lowest price set was $30 for a shitty set. Screw that. I found a nice $1.50 set at a dollar store nearby, so I'm covered. Not everybody has those kinds of screwdrivers though, finding them can be a real pain.

I'm more perplex though by the system not coming with any kind of charging equipment. I mean, sure I can use my previous 3DS charger if that'll work (I imagine it will), but I can picture many people going to buy their first 3DS when this comes out, or people selling their 3DS (and the charging cable) and getting a new 3DS and being like "where's in the effing hell is the charging cable?!".

I hate my 3DS with a burning passion and it's my single most regretted purchase as far as I can remember, but I've not once needed to replace my SD card (okay, only once to swap out the 4GB card that came with it). An odd decision, but it's over and done with in short order, likely never to be thought of again. What's worse is with their awful DRM, there's no reason to ever take SD card out of the system.

No it isn't, even Walmart has decent precision sets. I've even used a Walmart set to completely take apart a 3ds.

@nintendoboy16: "Grinning and bearing" is what's allowing companies like Activision, EA, Ubisoft, and Capcom get away with MUCH of the shit they do.

True, very true. But I'll take Nintendo's games over Ubisoft, EA, Activision, and Capcom's anyday. That being said, the crap these companies pull and get away with is absurd.

@pikachudude860: This is classic Nintendo.

The Wii U under-performing has them doing things in other areas to generate profit (remove ac adapters, amiibos, etc). It really is lame about the Nintendo Network ID, but I already knew about that as I own multiple Nintendo systems and they are ass backwards on how they handle e-purchases. The changing of an SD card requiring a screwdriver is equally lame.

You may be on to something there. Sad thing is, I doubt that Nintendo is even making that much profit off of stuff like this.

As long as we keep getting good games, we'll just have to grin and bear it.

That's why I buy Nintendo, for the games. I just wish they were better in other areas so I could give them more financial support, but as it is, I avoid buying digital with them.

I don't blame you for that. I rarely buy my games digital anyway. But there are a lot of games that are digital only...Nintendo's online policies make me not want to buy those games from them.

But hey, we seem to be getting a cross-buy E-Shop game soon. Maybe Nintendo is starting to see the light?

This is a minor inconvenience, but when you list it alongside Nintendo's recent blunders...

  • Region lock
  • No GBA or SNES Virtual Console on 3DS
  • Failing to manufacture enough of things people really want (Amiibos, Gamecube controller adapter, limited edition N3DS consoles)
  • No regular New 3DS for NA
  • No AC adapter included with New 3DS consoles (not a big deal but an included charger for an electronic is such a given these days that its exclusion is bewildering)
  • SSB4's online
  • Region lock deserves to be listed twice

...it reflects poorly on Nintendo.

And carries it around 24/7 for when he wants to swap memory cards on his PORTABLE CONSOLE.

The whole notion of them going with microSD and then entombing it in a caveat that would fit a fucking CF card is pure nonsense.

You would think that smaller format makes for easier carrying multiple cards and swapping them, with smaller slot taking virtually NO real estate on the console's exterior.

It's the conflicting ideas behind the change that makes people pissed off, methinks.

And the fact that this change is unneeded to begin with.

And as for Nintendo Network thing, well, it's as stupid as Vita not allowing no PS+ gamers to backup save files on their PC. F*ck that shit Nintendo.

No, the fact that they are still using AC adapter is a fucking stupid ass thing to do. There is a thing called USB, nowadays, Nintendo. It's something that you use to charge pretty much any portable device now. And it doesn't become useless when you are travelling overseas (cuz, you know, your 3DS is portable, so you bring it while you are traveling) unlike your shitty AC adapter that has basically region-locked voltage.

Also, region-lock needs to be mentioned for the third time.

Also, changing 3DS systems is super easy. The reviewer obviously didn't know what he was doing.

I'm more concerned about the lack of a power adapter than I am about popping a cover off to change an SD card. It's still a really stupid design choice though.

The Nintendo Network ID thing is literally two year old news, man.

And I'm struggling to think of why a household might not have screwdrivers.

Again, this doesn't affect me *shrug*

I know you love Nintendo, but the fact that you dismiss this stuff so easily is pretty lame. Nintendo being behind every other company in terms of online and product service use to be funny and charming in the past. However, now it's really annoying, and it's costing people money as a result.

The Network ID thing is old news, but it isn't old news for new customers of the system. Having a main network account is standard across pretty much every internet service these days. Also, the fact that this standard still isn't implemented in Nintendo today is beyond ridiculous.

You also need a very specific screwdriver to open up the new 3DS. Probably 95% of all 3DS owners don't have one, so they have to spend $6-$10 just to pick up a new screwdriver which they don't want. You also risk breaking the system when using this method.

Yes I do have some minor input delay, but that's far from being shitty. What had shitty online was Brawl.

My original point still stands as I meant only a few are actually saying the online is crap.
