I use xplay for the best reviews. Believe it or not they are more accurate than gamespot. They may put a game higher than I think it should be, but it's not nearly as bad as GS giving out low scores. I'd rather play a game said to be a 10 and it really is only an 8.0 game. Versus not playing a 10.0 game because GS says it's an 8.0.

GS sucks big time in reviews. Trust me all will come to that conclusion wiithin 1 year of reading them closely and being a hardcore gamer.

DragonfireXZ95

Yeah, right and xplay is better.

Xplay gave WAR a perfect score if I remember correctly.

Its an MMO, they always have bugs on release. I remember WoW at launch, it had more bugs than WAR has. Hell Wow had some bugs that could even be exploited by players making some class's unbeatable at PVP. It took them years to get rid of that dreaded loot bug and almost every patch they seemed to introduce new ones.

Its the way things go with mmo's, always has and always will.

Frozzik

WAR is far more buggy. There is so many hacks you can do it will spin your head. Especially the ones where you can take a flag or a relic and hold it at the spawn point so no one can get it.

PVP in war needs fixing. The warping issue alone kills it for melee classes. If you were insane like me and have a pet class you lose your pet 24/7... It's 100% useless.

Mobs are still bugged even with the last patch. They still warp and glitch around. Being a positional fighter (white lion) it is annoying and frustrating.

UI is also a major issues. You get menu leaks or extremely larger click box for a small icon (like the PQ chest icon).

Simple things should have been fixed before release and they were not. Don't get me wrong they are trying... But they need to try harder.

um. people were at 40 before the 3 day head start event :) i'm having NO trouble levelling whatsoever.

3picuri3

Well, I'm sorry... Those people that got 40 in 3 days must know every quest and how to do it best. They must have spent 24 hours a day to get there.

If you PVP like me leveling is slow... REALLLY SLOW... Especially if you do not win.

I have 5 level 10's 1 level 20, 1 level 17, 1 level 15, 1 level 26 and a few others that are over level 5.

If you played WOW, then played this... You would feel the difference in leveling speed. 1-11 is not a problem, easily done in a few hours. But when you get farther into your teens it becomes a bore fest and slows way down.

Shhhh, according to WAR players PvP grinding is an ok form of grinding because it never gets stale, repetitive or a pointless point vs point fest:|

I would rather grind a dungeon than half the content in WAR.

You can have fun in WoW playing Solo..... not so much with WAR, it seems..... so if you like playing your MMO's solo (most of the time) I'd steer clear of WAR

I really like the game, and have only scratched the surface of the game thus far. But it seems like the ENTIRE WORLD is made up of different instanced zones... So as I understand it, you'll never encounter enemy forces in your questing zones.... the only time you encounter them is in Realm vs Realm PvP....

I'm not really happy about that game design choice.... I like WoW's approach better.... even if it means getting ganked. But the world of WAR definately feels more alive than WoW. The NPC's have more personality, but then again, could they have any less personality than in WoW? Not really right!?

I'm also really confused atm how the crafting works in WAR.... but my 1st char is still lvl 6, so I'm still noobin' it oldskool style.

Anyway, WAR is at least the 2nd best MMO i've ever played.

Veterngamer

I totally disagree with everything you just said except the crafting part. Crafting is a joke. Let me just say you are making the big mistake of comparing this directly with wow, they are totally different games, if you play this expecting a wow like experience you really will come away with a bad impression of WAR.

PvP is open world. Just not at the start. No area in WAR is instanced. Some PQ are open to both sides so you end up in a big fight with the opposite faction to complete it. You ofetn have to venture into the other sides areas to complete quests, often taking you right outside their camps. Then ofc you have the big open RvR areas on the game map. This game is designed for PvP, if you want a PvE game like WoW you really should not be playing WAR.

Alsoi i'd like to add, at no point other than on one occasion have i joined a group, i play solo, i take battlefield objectives solo and i quest solo. Ofc i play scenarios in a group.

I get the feeling you havn't played WAR very long and ar still in the first tier area's.

Your right.... I jumped the gun a bit on somethings I said..... but saying you can't compare the game to WoW is absurd... they are both Fantasy MMO's, if we can't compare them to each other, then what can we compare them to?

I've only been playing a couple of days.... and am only lvl 7, I'm having fun with it, but still have lots to learn about the ins & outs of the game.

Though I am wondering, whats the point of all this PvP.... what difference does it make if The Order or Destruction controls an area? One side gets a few % higher XP or Renown from kills? WHOOPIE!?

I hope there are more sever consequences to losing areas and bigger rewards than that. Otherwise I can see myself going back to WoW pretty quickly.

my point with comparing WAr to wow is valid imo. No doubt like me you have played WoW to 70 and pretty much seen everything. WoW has also had years to be fixed and refined, it wasn't half as good as it is now at launch. You have played WAR to lvl 7.

The point in capturing areas leads ultimately to the chance of sacking the other factions home city, think of a giant raid.

WAR is over rated. Even 8.5 is to high.

The bugs in this game alone make it horrible to play at times. It get's annoying trying to PVP then have people warp away from you. Or have a pet that vanishes out of thin air.

If they would have polished it more and worked the game killing bugs out before release, I would agree on 8.5.

WAR has me concerned. You get all the items you need from PVP. Leveling from 11-40 is painfully slow. There is a massive lack of content. Just doesn't seem like it will keep players there for long.

This outlines pretty much how i felt about the game, ontop of that the poor animations and bland enviroments for a 2008 game is just bad, they could of made much better use of what they had.

That being said, I dont see the obsession with PvP in RPGs/MMORPGs.... its boring imo.... its a numbers game, I dojnt mean chance because obviously all RPG's rely heavily on chance, but as in ZERG numbers are always going to win an RVR zone, so I dont see the point... theres no limited balance.

Again you talk about WAR like its WoW. The PvP in WAr can be very very skill based and is not a numbers thing. Just this morning myself (Black Orc) 2 other Black Orcs and 2 healers pretty much wiped out a whole warband in Nordenwatch. 3 tanks just stood at the bridge blocking it off to order, healers stood back and healed us, it was like 5v 10 but we easily managed. The collision physics working a treat here. Whilst we did this others ran around and took the lighthouse, think we won 500-22 or something.

But he is right though, faction imbalance plays a HUGE part in War, and I knew that factions would be imbalanced because of WoW(I used to play horde, all the alliance kids jumped shipped around BC because horde was the side that won at pvp and is teh cooolz suddenly), and I still went order .. my my .. what a mistake, I keep getting zerged in RVR zones, scenarios aren't bad but world pvp is.

I really do not think it deserved 8.5 imo.

Now first off my highest lvl is 8 which I have 2 of them so I am not very far into the game. Here is some of the things I do not like.

The scenarious are are nice but only if there is many people in the zone doing it. The Dark elf one for example has a dragon and we needed the help of two lvl 20s to do it. Mind you it is made for lvls 1-10. So these quests always have at least one hero classed mob or a couple champion lvl mobs so many are needed for it. When there is not many people in the area it will just not be able to be done. This and the PVP is the most talked about areas of the game also.

So far the pvp does not seem anything that great considering it is the main draw of the game. The whole thing is centered around pvp. Mind you again I only played the pvp for lvls 1-10 so it may change greatly but just seems like nothing more then kill more of them then they kill of you and not much tactics are needed but kills.

The graphics look slightly better then WoW but a world as a whole I think WoW looks better. The seemed to throw to much together also. For example in the dwarf area there is a bar with where there is a bunch of NPCs like merchants and quest givers just hanging out. Right next to it though there is a scenario where there is a ton of greenskins (orcs) and also infront of the bar there is a large area of greenskines. Just does not look right a bar with dwarves all hanging out drinking but orcs surrounding it pretty much. Just kills the atmosphere. Plus I think they need to spread things out more just in general.

I do not like how classes are not shared by different races. For example if you want to play a engineer you have to be a dwarf. You could be the counterpart which is the Choas magus but then you get demons instead of guns and spells instead of bullets. So it is not same class it is just same style.

The only two true pet classes only get one pet throughout the whole game. White Lion and Squig Hearder. For example in WoW the hunter gets 3 kinds of pets (tank, dps, with expansion more pvp pet also right now the 3rd is just middle of the road stat wise) and many looks for each one.

there is other things and I could go into more detail about the ones I mentioned. Thing is though I do not see Warhammer being much of a threat to WoW. Sure some will leave but I think more will go back to WoW then stay with Warhammer.
