Warhammer Review by Gamespot - Flop?

I was expecting a score like this. I don't think I've seen any poster hyping this AAA.mo0ksi

Many were saying it would be better than WoW which is a AAA game

I suppose I'll never get used to the idea that SW considers good scoring games a flop, simply because something as unmeasurable as hype suggested it would score higher.

There is always someone who thinks a game will score higher than it does, always.

great score for a great game :)

been playing a lot of this the past week, and part of me prefers it to WoW atm; once all the bugs are sorted out, and Mythic adds the stuff that the players are asking for, I can see myself cancelling my WoW account to focus entirely on WAR :)

and a lot RTS games a few driving games a few FPS games, a couple of sport sims, some adventure games, a few RPG games well thats about it

Well exclusives and AA or AAA are few ( still more than ps3 and 360 combined )

Well it is considered a flop to those who hyped it as a WoW killer because it certainly isnt. I saw some screen shots of this game and it looks VERY identical to WoW and seems like a rip off to me.DarkNeji14

Actually Tom Chilton is copying a lot of ideas from LD from WAR (Mark Jacobs) if you read the most recent update on Worldofraids.com.

I've pretty much lost even more respect towards GS reviewers now (had none from the start) since I have no idea why they gave WAR the same score as AoC which sucked butter milk.

It wasnt really hyped here in System Wars, because apperently MMO's are some kinda outside genre to the consolitez in here.

8.5 isnt bad, I wasnt expecting any higher after playing it

Heh some people actually do think it's better but I don't think the game was hyped at all. 8.5 is good.

WoW has been out for a long time and has one expasion with another to be released next month.. To even come close to that in content of the games release just isn't realistic... And MMO scores most times are quite irrelevent, after a few months, most change significantly.

Heh some people actually do think it's better but I don't think the game was hyped at all. 8.5 is good.

I am not saying I agree with the fact it was hyped. Just that many said it was going to be better. Based just on the score alone and not opinions those people flopped.

Still waiting on the Star Trek MMO myself

It is better than WoW regardless of the score. How can you mark a game down for being PVP focused when then was a core design decision from the start. Gamespot should read up on their games a little more before writting reviews.

Lets mark MGS4 down for having too much stealth in it....

Ahh you got to it first...the answer is because they had to find some bad points and the reviewer lacked the skill to compete against actual players. This always happens when carebares play a more competitive title ;).

Because that's all it offers. WoW is often catagorized as a PvE MMO, yet it offers plenty of PvP.

Or maybe it was more of the case that, in order to keep players envolved in an MMO it is a healthier option to focus on all aspects not just cram it full of PvP, forcing it to lose some wide spread appeal.

Which ofcourse then leads me to believe that Reviewing MMO's at all is completely and utterly pointless, as I very much doubt that the reviewers of these games have touched the end game, which ultimatly is where the games need to be judged the most.

What happens when you hit rank 40? after grinding Scenario XXX 40x over per Rank, after youve afk/1 attack ninja looted all the PQ gear.... grind the scenarios again until or even *IF* your faction wins you can ransack a town for 4 hours? ....

Better at this point is a joke tbh, WAR is a good concept but fragile.
