It's been two months since we first got our hands on Warhawk, the fast paced multiplayer experience from Incognito. In that time, we've blasted our way across the original map in the pre-alpha build multiple times, and have been looking forward to getting our hands on newer stages to blast our way through. We've also been perfecting our dogfighting, flag capturing and zone controlling skills to prepare for the massive 32 player battles that will rage on PS3s. But we could never have expected to see the massive visual and technical strides that have been made with the game that we noticed at Sony's Gamer's Day.

First of all, throw out everything that you've seen on the game up to this point. Yeah, I know, it sounds like an extreme statement to make, but every single texture in the game has been completely redone. Character models stand out with a lot more detail and vehicle models have crisper, sharper skins. The panels on the jeeps and tanks look much more weathered and battle worn than they did before. Even the mini-maps have received extra attention, with new icons on the map that indicates vehicles, enemies and your character's personal vision cone. Even flags or objectives have received light cones to indicate where a player needs to go during a match in case they get confused or lost. With all of the visual improvements, it almost feels like playing a brand new game.

And Incog did all of this in two months

Just goes to show you that just because some kids want to play armchair game developer and say what is/is not possible to do to a game in a few months, their opinions don't make it true.

If a team like Incognito can do it most assuredly Bungie can.

but it says warhawk was in pre-alpha stage, alot can happen in between that and even say beta, like Halo 3 already is, while I still think the graphics will look a little cleaner i dont expect that kinda jump.

Correction. Some of Halo's textures are better. However, some are just horrible. Take a look at the grass and some of the rock textures in Halo and you will want to puke

Warhawk and Halo in some ways are on the same level graphically.

That was in pre-alpha though. Once a game reaches beta most of the features are basically done. The last few months are spent on marketing, distribution, and legalees.

Halo 3 already went from pre-alpha to beta stage. I can't wait til Halo 3 releases and what we see today is basically what we get and all of these xbots who are saying "bu but the beta!!11!11!1" are going to be soooo self owned.

Well Halo3's main problem isn't textures and effects like with Warhawk. It has decent textures and good lighting. The main flaw at least imo is the  geometric detail and flat look that really hasn't improved over Halo2.... and nothing can really be done about that from this point.
