I want the war over, i dont care who wins.
I HAVE to ask though, why do all the Sony fans care? What is Blu-Ray doing for them?

I agree it hasnt really shown its potential as a game format the way many of us had hoped, but the most studios that sign to be BR exclusive mean the more support the disc format has as a whole. Besides, the movies are great quality, and (though the circumstances werent exactly identical i admit), having a DVD player in the PS2 was considered a gimmick at the time of launch, but really helped the PS2 later on.
What exactly is the market penetration of HDTVs now?dsmccracken
not sure, but it must be rising... seeing as though Microsoft started putting HDMI ports on the Xbox360 and with Major Studios already making big decisions. Dont forget, most TV's you see on sale now are HD.

Yea, you can get them fairly cheap now for a budget company, but still have good quality.
[QUOTE="nowhatisthat"][QUOTE="Gamingcucumber"]I don't see why people are even paying so much money to switch over yet.Gamingcucumber
Maybe because there is a law that is going to force televesion stations to switch over to digital broadcasting by 2009. Go into best buy or any electronics retailer, and I want you to take into account how many SDTVs that you see compared to HDTVs. Being stubborn and holding onto sdtvs and DVD's is like people who are still using windows 95 or windows 3.1, or better yet horse and buggy sure it's still somewhat functional but yeah it's time to let it go.
Wow that failed. Using DVDs over HD-DVD or Blue Ray at this point is not like using windows 3.1 or 95 over Xp or Vista at all. It would make more sense to compare it to use Xp over Vista in fact.
And using SDTVs over HDtvs at this point also doesn't have anything to do with being stubborn but how much you can affoard. If you look back a couple of years to the whole Betamax incident you have a living proof of why you shouldn't get on a ship too soon. I mean it's too early to call for a winner , if there is a winner at all. People as of this day still play and use a lot more DvDs than the other 2.
And you can buy a box without buying a brand new Tv even though HD is becomming more and more populare.
I got take this even further by saying. Look at the guys who bought a PS3 on release date for a blue ray player or whatnot, they payed, what how much? Compared to the guys who waited for about a year and maybe payed half of that.
I'll phrase it more simple this time. There is a law in 2009, remember this is one year away since it is now 2008, that will force alltelevision stations into the use of high defintion broadcasting. That means stations will no longer be supporting standard definition/ analog tuners. Much like the new software these days do not have support for windows 3.1, 95, and even XP such as Halo 2 on the pc. HDTVs are now at the price that SDTVs were a few years ago, furthermore SDTV's have now become the new VCR, Black and White Television, Casette, or 8 trac; because With new technology such as mp3 players, cars, cell phones and so forth the old technology becomes obselete and dated. You can hang on to them all you want, but i hope you don't expect to be getting the latest things with your SDTV come next year, it would be like waiting and hoping for the new My Chemical Romance album to be released on 8 trac, because your too cheap to buy a cd player.
