But Revelations fixes alot of the problems of the previous games.
@uninspiredcup: Like what in your opinion? The games are better than 5 and 6, but not top 5 material.
In both Resident Evil 1/2 it takes almost no effort to run past the majority of enemies, stock up on ammo and be a walking weapon shop by the end.
In both 1/2/3 the final bosses involve moving 2 inches, fire, rinse and repeat. Where as in Revelations it's probably the best boss in the series (imo) you follow the old tried and tested tradition of following and learning patterns and hitting when the opportunity arises.
In Resident Evil 4 you can head shoot + kick + slash slash almost every enemy in the game. Or manipulate door kicks that put them in an endless loop, or manipulate ladders that put them in an endless loops. The bosses are worse then Revelations (again opinion), these also are easily exploited.
In Revelations infernal mode the enemies alternate between fast and slow moving speed as oppossed to the original lumbering enemies or Resident Evil 4 where they will suddenly slow down to a half in front of you, easily exploited (see above). Likewise doors in Revelations use a canned animation to stop you kicking it over and over and over. Likewise you can knife, but it requires more skill and can't be exploited. The environments are generally narrower like the original RE mansion, but if you want to get past you need to use a dodge skill, rather than just... run around them.
That's not to say I think Revelations is some perfect game, the snow/flashback sections and those two guys (who's name I can't remember) are utter shite. Likewise the story and any character that isn't Jill are just annoying. And I think I prefer RE4's weapon/weapons management over Revelations upgrade system. But it does improve alot of the problems the other games had.
hum, tough one. Probably:
1. Resident Evil 4
2. Resident Evil Remake
3. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
4. Resident Evil Code: Veronica
5. Resident Evil 5
I just didnt liked RE2 as much as most did... RE 0 would be up there instead of RE5 if not for the terrible item management choice... RE3 has a special place in my heart cause it was not only the first RE game I beat but also the 1st game I ever beat, and probably THE game that made me interested in games and thus a gamer
@uninspiredcup: Good points about classic RE they are pretty easy if you have played the games a few times but on a first play though. RE 4 is pretty bad but the mercenary mode was pretty fun to screw around with the brain dead AI.
I thought the the Revelation series lacked enemy variety and the encounters were boring and could be seen a mile away. The puzzles were poor and easy. They felt thrown in just so Capcom could say they were like the older games again. The new characters that they made for the series were forgettable just like the bosses, except for the last boss of Revelations 1, which I would say was only memorable due to the jump in difficulty from an otherwise easy game. Albert's wife? Really? The whole Wesker plot is all over the place with Jake. Revelations 2 just made things even worse. The episodic nature of the games gave the game a low budget feel and completely removes you from the atmosphere with flashbacks thrown in between. Also, the second game made no mention of Jessica and Raymond. I guess Capcom forgot about them too. And finally, mercenaries mode >>> raid mode. Raid mode in Revelations 1 did not work well with the narrow corridors some stages were rather boring imo.
60 posts and NO ONE has mentioned the RE Outbreak games, what the ****. This is the one game they need to bring back to current consoles/pc, it was waaaay ahead of its time with online co-op.
Such an underrated game by a derpy fanbase

To be fair it's been ages since i've played it and my memory is absolute shit, so you're probably picking up stuff I missed. Still, the general impression was mostly good.
Don't usually bother with the mercenary stuff, but it seems like Revelations 1's campaign would have been better off it was it totally solo (no companion AI) or totally focused on two-player COOP, with two characters like RE5. I don't get Capcoms obsession with jumping all over the shit, I guess they're trying to be epic or something?
Ooooh, five is hard... The following list is my five fave in no specific order on the systems I played them on.
1) RE1 Gamecube
2) RE2 Gamecube
3) RE4 Gamecube
4) RE Code: Veronica Dreamcast
5) RE7 PS4 Pro PSVR
You could argue my list, but at least four of those five are non-negotiable. RE4 and CV might have seen subsequent releases which I did not play, GC versions of 1&2 weren't the only versions I played, but the best by far. Side note, you have to be the bravest MF around to survive 7 in VR, holy crap just thinking about it shatters my soul. Any of you's "VR is a gimmick" guys and gals out there, I invite you to test your stones with 7. You will cry like a baby and beg for your life to have headset/headphones removed. It is the most fear enducing experience on the planet.
