I would imagine a console under a gaming drought would not be seeing any good games at all. Since the wii's release it's recieved at least a couple good games each month. Even holiday 08, which has to be one of the worst periods in the wii's history, saw some awesome games over the course of it.

Pretty sure every console has some sort of drought at one point or another. It's pretty much a matter of taste. Summers used to be pretty bad for everyone though.

SNES had a helluva drought on launch. We had Super Mario World, Pilotwings, and ummm....F-Zero, and not much else for quite a while. I remember Sega running commercials making fun of how few games the SNES had.
Actually, you are right, most of the SNES games we all remember so fondly came out either at launch window, or at the end of the system's lifespan.SNES had a helluva drought on launch. Every console has it's droughts.
PS3 at launch.
360 for about the past year and a half (if you don't include multiplats).
Wii about the same time as 360 but a little bit longer and more noticible due to weak multiplat support.
PC for a while now also.

the wii has some critically acclaimed exclusives as well, but just because a game isnt critically acclaimed doesnt mean it cant be good, this is what willy was implying theres a ton of A-AA games to keep you preoccupied on the wii which is consistent

When Willy stated the Wii was "the one" to continually have releases, maybe if he worded it differently like "just as consistant" or something similar.

But by that logic most probably no system has experienced droughts ever making this thread pointless. We need certain high parameter, like only AAA games and monthly periods for example, to separate the real deal from blind fanboyism.
I don't know about you guys but in the N64 days I didn't experienced any droughts of gaming. It was The Legend of Zelda then 007 then Perfect Dark then Star Fox 64 then Quake, then Doom 64, then Diddy Kong Racing then etc etc.
There was always a game everytime I went to the N64.
Gamecube I regret hardly getting the games for that system but I didn't experience any sort of "droughts" from that age either. ONLY THIS GEN Have I experienced any sort of "Gaming Drought".
The Wii had a horrible second half of 08 imo. 09 was better but seriously, if you own an HD console, the amount of multiplats really make the year fill up. The Wii may have sold very well back then but honestly, anyone with an HD console would've passed on Animal Crossing, COD WAW & many of the cool niche titles like de Blob & Deadly Creatures simply because what the HD twins offered in Q3/Q4 of 08, was simply superior.

I would add that hiding behind AAEs ignores the fact that most AA multiplats don't come to the Wii -- and the simple fact is the PS3 and 360 have double the number of AA games as the Wii, and quadruple the number of AAA games. Regardless, a drought is not defined in terms of AA exclusives, in my mind, but in terms of a steady flow of critically acclaimed games. Any other criteria ignores the reality of which systems are getting the big titles.Critical reception of Wii games isn't exactly a reliable measure of Wii game quality, given that most reviewers are either unskilled at Wii gaming, or just flat out say things which are provably wrong.roxlimnSo it's a conspiracy eh?

what?by your logic every system has droughts all the time besides the hd consoles this generation. every system has drought for a long period of time and sometimes its not that long if theirs quality games to play theirs no drought. also just because a wii game was not AAA here doesnt mean they werent elsewhere which makes this thread unfactual and just plain pointless.
the wii pumps out AA's out of thin air which is high enough quality to keep people preoccupied just because the hd consoles get multiplatform high quality games does not mean their was not a drought when the ps3 first released or for the 360 along the lines.
not everybody is going to like every AAA game and their is no point of playing scores but yes every system has droughts of not enough A-AAA games in their lifespan.
