the wii has some critically acclaimed exclusives as well, but just because a game isnt critically acclaimed doesnt mean it cant be good, this is what willy was implying theres a ton of A-AA games to keep you preoccupied on the wii which is consistent

SakusEnvoy

But by that logic most probably no system has experienced droughts ever making this thread pointless. We need certain high parameter, like only AAA games and monthly periods for example, to separate the real deal from blind fanboyism.

I would add that hiding behind AAEs ignores the fact that most AA multiplats don't come to the Wii -- and the simple fact is the PS3 and 360 have double the number of AA games as the Wii, and quadruple the number of AAA games. Regardless, a drought is not defined in terms of AA exclusives, in my mind, but in terms of a steady flow of critically acclaimed games. Any other criteria ignores the reality of which systems are getting the big titles.

if their are many games exclusive or not it doesnt matter their is not a drought. their is no wii drought ive been playing many wii games since launch their are more 360/ps3 quality games but who cares nobody is debating that or hiding behind AAE's just their are many wii games to play that are of high quality AAA isnt the only quality games out there which this site seems to not recognize.

[QUOTE="roxlimn"]Critical reception of Wii games isn't exactly a reliable measure of Wii game quality, given that most reviewers are either unskilled at Wii gaming, or just flat out say things which are provably wrong.Rockman999
So it's a conspiracy eh?

Franky, I don't know what it is, but when you play the games these critics are panning, the games often do not have the faults the critics are saying they do. You cannot appreciate how ridiculous it is if you don't play a lot of Wii games. In many of the reviews, the critics are actually factually wrong. That would be unforgivable for reviews on the PS3 and 360 - they'd get crucified by the gaming public. It's probably nothing so dramatic as a conspiracy. After all, the fact that much of the world hated (insert country here) for a period of time wasn't so much a worldwide conspiracy so much as (insert country here) behaving like a jerk. For the Wii, I think most journalist simply don't have the skill, the interest, and any pressure to review Wii games seriously. After all, if the gamer lot here accepts their word for it, even if it's wrong, there's no real point to correcting them, is there?

the wii is currently having one,2 years and still no AAAE,sure it has AAE'/AA's,but for SW-worthy,you need AAAE's

So in order for a system to be considered to have no droughts it must first get approval from a group of jaded fanboys on an online forum who already hate that system (the Wii in this case)system to the bone.

Just askin'.

On another note, maybe it's not droughts we gamers experience. Maybe there aren't too many games on the selective systems we own that interest us so we buy less games.

Just a thought.

Around launch, and 2008 seemed pretty bad for Wii. Or am I hallucinating again?

around launch maybe.. but 2008..? wasnt that they year we got wii fit, smash bros brawl, mario kart wii, animal crossing wii, shaun white snowboarding, wario land shake it, we ski, boom blox, de blob, wii music all in one year..?

Smahs Bros and Mario Kart yes, then very little for 6 months to a year... Doesn't matter tho all that is finished now :D

If you like buying bad games then there's no drought for you on the Wii. But I think there were fewer releases in the SNES days anyway. on top of games being generally more expensive.

The DS doesn't have any droughts. The Wii had it really bad in 2008 though.

If we are speaking in terms of periods of time where the Wii has not received little to none big-name titles that have received critical acclaim (as is the common definition of a gaming drought), then it has had far too many already. I do not really see how you can deny that...

That's a pretty weird definition - a gaming drought is something reviewers decide on as a group? Who benefits from that kind of information?

^ This. Only the N64 and GCN had droughts. The GCN had it worst.

I clearly remember all three of those having droughts. I remember every console since 1995 having droughts every once in awhile.
