Poll Was the xbox elite controller a success? want a ps4 version? (100 votes)
I left this open as a multiple choice poll. I love my elite controller, and I wish ps4 had their variant of one(without going through someone like scuf).
Thoughts sw?

Controller is great. I'd rather they release a standard controller with the rubber grips. That makes all the difference.
Success?

Outside of a few incredibly dedicated, super-fanboys on videogame message boards like this....who the hell is buying this thing?
The average joe isn't lining up to pay $150 for this silly shit.
In fact, dating back to the early 80's, I've never once thought "Wow! If I could just ditch this controller that already comes with the console, and drop $150 on a "dedicated" controller....I'd REALLY be in business!!"
No sir. You see...I have a semblance of a brain in my skull.
Seriously, $150 for a controller? No, thank you. Go get a regular xbox1 or 360 controller. The difference is not huge anyways
So while I voted that the controller is great and a success, it in no way reflect my opinion of the price.
I think all controllers this gen are a failure for letting China put those shitty, made-to-break planned-obsolescence analog modules in our controllers, versus a battle-tested tried-and-true designs that were good enough for the Xbox & Xbox 360, PS2 & PS3 and such (Left picture bad, right picture good)...
...even the Steam controller and the Wii U controllers use this shit. Nobody can avoid this crap now. The Xbox One Elite controller, despite claims of it's enhanced durable design, still have this as its weakest link to this. It will develop stick drift all the same.
The people who are buying it are super dedicated multiplayer pro gamers and people with way too much money to burn. I've never felt like any of the current generation controllers (PS4, Xbone and Wii U Pro) weren't good enough for what I use them for.
Success?

Based on what?
Limited stock?
You're fucking nutty if you think these things are flying off the shelf left and right.
The VAST majority of gamers view a $150 controller as nothing more than frivolous bullshit, to say the least.
If Sony released an elite controller where you could swap the positions of the d-pad and left analog stick, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. If it doesn't have that feature then I would not care about it.
Success?

Considering how many of these gamers are spending on shitty headsets and the like, I'm going to disagree.
For some anecdotal evidence the controller was in the top 10 sellers list on my countries equivalent of Amazon for quite some time at launch. Just taking a look it's also now on back order. that would indicate there is a demand for such a controller.

"Some" gamers? Sure
And "some" gamers like to spend $150-200 on a steering wheel exclusively for racing games.
But to act like these "Elite" controllers are flying off the shelf front line and center...is...well, fucking ridiculous.
The majority of gamers are perfectly content with the controller that the console manufacturer, of their choice, has conceived.
I would like to use it, but I'm not buying it for 150 dollars. When it goes down, I'll get it. But it's incredibly successful since its selling out everywhere. Hell you can't find any.
Lmao at the who the hell would buy this? Damn thing has been sold out everywhere since being released. Jot mine on the fifth. So much making schemes you prefer. Great controller

They misjudged the market as it's a $150 controller, they thought a lot like you and wanted to be careful. Well they created a lot but no where near enough to meet demand, they didn't foresee it being such a hot commodity and selling out entirely, which it did.
It's really as simple as that, it's a smash success, an amazing controller and something a lot of people want to own.
There's no other discussion to be had here, suck it up and take a hike negative nancy.

That's possibly true, possibly not. The controller is however selling well enough that its stock is depleted in a number of locations and was at least in the top selling items where I'm from up its release. So are you trying to discredit my post or what? I'm not seeing the point in your post.

The **** are you talking about?
Are you so dense, dare I say...stupid? To not realize that the majority of the XBone owning populace doesn't give two shits about some $150 controller?
That they're perfectly content with the $60 model that came with their initial purchase of the XBone console?
What the hell is so hard to comprehend about this?
Seriously...fill me in...I'm all ears (and eyes)....??

Hey big brain, you do realize this is not an "Xbox One" controller correct? It's also an equally as viable PC controller, arguably the best, hence it being called the "Xbox Elite Controller" and not the "Xbox One Elite Controller", it has multiple markets of appeal thus its sales will obviously be higher.

The original XB 360 and PS3 controllers act as PC modules..who gives a shit?
Do you goofy ass console-strict owners ever even ATTEMPT to realize this very small, very simple matter of subject material? The shit has been floating around for the better part of 10 years.

Well this is amusing. You're attempting to read between the lines apparently but your comprehension is borderline preschool levels. I never once said "the majority of gamers" would want to buy one, so where is that coming from? Please do explain, I'll give you a little bit for you to read my posts. I'll also give you a slight hint, I didn't say that.
A success (AKA as doing very well for itself) is a product that is selling well and making the company the money they so very much desire. You're attempting to say that the controller isn't a success because "the majority of gamers" aren't shelling out to buy one. Please correct me if I'm wrong but that's literally what you're saying in your first post. What you'd however discover is that's not really how a success is defined. Using that very flimsy logic, most games aren't a success since "the majority of gamers" don't buy them. Heck, Fallout 4 isn't a success using that logic. Are you following along or do you require me to help you out a little?
Success?

Based on what?
Limited stock?
You're fucking nutty if you think these things are flying off the shelf left and right.
The VAST majority of gamers view a $150 controller as nothing more than silly frivolous bullshit, to say the least.
What the hell is even remotely false about that statement?
You think that tons of XBone owners are going to drop $150 on a peripheral that no one besides HARDCORE FPS fans even have a remote use for?
If so, then I have a bridge to sell you...

No thanks, I'm not goin to spend 150 dollars on a controller that is optimized for me to game and drink mountain dew at the same time.
The Xbox One Elite controller is BY FAR the best controller on the market. If Sony made one it could be even better. Your move Sony.

Most people aren't looking to spend $100+ on bullshit like peripherals....
Are ya gettin' that? Is it sinkin' in any?
The only people who spend $150 on a controller are people who are totally consumed with the customization of their gamepad or are looking for some kind of competitive advantage....in other words...people who are utterly fucking obsessed with videogames. Not the casuals. Not the 85-90% who make up the gaming demographic. But the select few who are willing to invest that kind of money into this kind of medium.
As in...not too many.
Savvy?

So again nothing but conjecture? Try sit there and actually think up a proper argument as to why the controller isn't successful. I believe in you, you can do it champ.
I'll give you a few helpers: I never said the majority of gamers will buy one, but that doesn't mean it's not a success. So with that sentence, come up with a proper rebuttal.
I'm one of these strange bastards who actually likes the DS4 a lot. It's even my go-to controller when I need a controller for the PC.

they sold out Really quickly across both the US and the UK
As phil spencer said.

Yes success. When they are sold out, and people will have trouble finding one until March, that's mostly a good thing.
Had to pick other, cause you left out the "No, I like my Xbox One controller as is"
This, the Forza and Lunar White Xbox One controllers are pretty much perfect.
I mean they are just regular Xbox One controllers, but they have a nice grip texture on the back :p
I don't need a Elite controller tbh.
