Was the Xbox One X A failure and a very bad buy for consumers?

BTW the PS3 didn't win. It lost the most market share, had the worst looking multiplats, took 8 years to catch the 360 and lost to Nintendo . What exactly did they win?

Again what does that have to do with that I said? Did I say power wins gens? Did I say anything about sales and power? No, I said cows(you) made a big deal about power, until the X1X released. Then power didn't matter.

Once again, what does your response have to do with the 1X being discontinued and why cows even matter since the games are still going to work on all existing 1X consoles? Why do cows care about a console that will still be viable years from now?

I would actually say that those with an X1X... especially the editions that have "Scorpio" on them... keep your systems. They'll be considered collectors items much quicker than most systems due to the short lifespan and minimal amount of them on the market.

@kingtito: Wii unfortunately won the last gen. I don't say that to spite Nintendo but because I despise motion controls. Nintendo isn't even really counted as a direct competitor anymore. They don't have actual generations anymore. They took some odd path and now stand alone. It could bite them in the ass but so far Switch is pretty successful after the abysmal failure of the Wii-U.

PS3 won over 360 in overall sales. Thus, it "won" in SW.

@Telekill: By the time it caught the 360 the 9th gen launched so did it really "win"? Anyway I don't really care because sales has no affect on me I don't own stock nor do I get paid by MS or Sony.

Nintendo doesn't care about "gens" and rightfully so. "Gens" are only for fanboy bragging rights while doing what PCs do on a regular basis, get upgraded. So aside from the upgrades these "gens" are only good for fanboys to grief others about sales.

@Telekill: I mean upgrades are the only real positive to the generational model. What Nintendo is doing is coming up with upgrades they're just not doing it in sync with MS and Sony.

Me too, it also is a marvel to see what they can come up with and how gaming evolves.

it took sony 8 years to catch up because 360 had great games until they decided toward the end to sell all there studios and said single player games are dead. then they decided to rely on third party. then it took them until the end of this gen to realize they needed to buy back first party studios.

it also took 8 years because the ps3 was 600 dollars and the ps3 came out one year later than the 360. so for over two years xbox had a price of 400 while the ps3 first year had a 600 price tag and 360 great first party games and had better third party ports.

look i will buy xbox for fable but there is no reason to get a xbox until after 2022 when the big hitters like evowed, fable comes. again xbox has no true next gen titles until 2022. the only game at launch that looks good is gunk. stalker 2 got delayed until close to 2022 aswell.

phil needs to sell me xbox not gamepass.

To me, it was basically "too late" when it release and the damage was already done to the brand itself. Xbox One X is what it should have been on launch day. And I totally agree the lack of heavyweight exclusives really hurt the console the most.

Fortunate for me, I'll be playing MS exclusives through the PC and no longer care for Xbox consoles in the future.

Absolutely. That should've been their launch system much like Pro should've been Sony's. It sad really because even after the launch drama, they couldn't get it together. In my opinion, Phil hasn't done much to help them survive another console race. It's over at this point.

I'm happy with my X. I got a decent deal on a trade in.

Got performance mode on a few games , better load times and also some 360 games got X enhanced patch.

However MS really needs to do a better job incentivizing getting a Series X, because if you own a decent pc then it's damn near pointless to upgrade.

This wording "optimized for Series X" is a possible indicator those games will also be playable on the One and One X.

They wouldn't use the words optimized, if that was the Series X was the only Xbox console that would get it.

There of course is the rumored Series S. But that hasn't even been revealed/confirmed. So this wording points to the One and One X getting the same content.

Although the PS4 and PS4 Pro win for having a vastly superior library of games. The One X made way more sense than the Pro.

X1 ran games at a shitty 1600x900p = 1,440,000 resolution

PS4 ran games at a decent 1920x1080p = 2,073,600 (or so) resolution

PS4 Pro hardly differentiates from PS4 as it runs a 2560x1400p ≈ 4 million pixel resolution. 2.2x the GPU power for less than twice the pixels. Meh.

X1X on the other hand was a huge improvement over the crappy X1, and offers typically a 3200x1800 = 6 million pixel resolution, which is more than 4x the pixels of X1.

1.3 Tflops --> 6 Tflops = HUGE upgrade, a generational leap

1.84 Tflops --> 4.2 Tflops = minor upgrade.

I think both the Xbox one X and the PS4 Pro is a failure, sort of. They added a few extra million consoles sold, but if the profit per unit is less, then it's not a whole lot of difference. I assume a lot of those Pro buyers were late to the party and were getting a PS4 anyways.
