Most of it's games feel like Wii games but in HD.

I think it would be better if WiiU was just a optional and cheap add-on for Wii.

So far, I don't really see why this system should exist.

The 1st party games would run on the Wii in SD and the 3rd party ports don't captivate anyone.

Add to that a relatively high price (compared to current-gen competitors), last gen hardware (Power 750 is very old tech) and lacking 3rd party support and there's even less reasons for the system.

Perhaps my opinion will change once the games that actually look like they couldn't be done properly on Wii (e.g. Project X, MK8, tech demo Zelda) but those titles are still several months or years away.

The system was just poorly planned from the beginning, imo.

Thoughts?

Yes.... because I hate gaming in 480p on a large screen.

Also, Nintendo IP in HD... YES PLZ!!!

Of course HD doesnt make the games good... but Nintendo is usually good about quality. I repeat... USUALLY.

They really phoned it in on the New 3D Mario World... its quite depressing that they didn't seem to put any effort into recreating the magic of Super Mario 64 or SMG 1 & 2.

No there was no need for it.

The only need was for nintendo try and repeat wii success with another gadget. They saw the way tablets were picking up in populairty so they tried to copy off of it. Just like they tried to copy off of the hype of 3d with the 3ds.

As a Wii U owner I feel that the Wii U has great hardware. I am a big fan of the tablet controller. I have very big hands so it fits better than anyother controller I have ever used. I enjoy that the range of the controller is so long so that I can play games without inturruption if I want to go into another room or out onto my patio. The same thing with Nextflix on Wii U. It is great how when i want to get up from the living room I can simply slide the movie onto my Wiimote and continue it on the screen. I also use the Wiimote as my TV remote and enjoy the Wii TV features. The Visual Upgrade is significant from the original Wii (anyone that is not a complete fanboy could see that).

So to answer the question yes. I would say there was far more of a need for a Wii U than there is for a Ps4 or Xbox one, becuase the Wii was not even HD and the visuals were not strong enough to carry the wii for another generation.

I understand that this is system wars so the need from people that do not own a Wii U and just love bashing everything will flame me endlessly, but I really do feel the Wii U is a very cool piece of hardware. It is easy for me to say this becuase I am getting A Ps4 and a Xbox one also, so I do not care about the "War".

Would I ever get just a Wii U? NOT IN A MILLION YEARS, but I do feel that it is a neat secondary console. (I would pick one up this time next year, when It has a dozen or so good games on it.)

Yes. Sadly though the Wii U we got was not the Wii U we wanted....or loyal Nintendo fans deserved. A Wii U with the XB1's power and full 3rd party support would of been the console to own this up coming gen. But sadly Nintendo pulled a Nintendo.

Nintendo just needs to quit delaying the inevitable and either go third party or exit the console business and only focus on handhelds. Their 1995 state of mind isnt going to work this time as consumers become more tech savvy

The Wii was so popular so fast. but it was a fad that died out. I think Nintendo saw this fad dying and quickly tried to get a replacement out to fill this void. They shot from the hip and missed.

Nintendo exclusives? If you say "not interested" then a case can be made for PS4 and Xbox One not being needed as well. And if your argument is about power, then PS4 and Xbox One isn't needed, with PC always being superior to both. So if the Wii U isn't needed, then the other consoles aren't either.

If Sony and Mircosoft could be more innovative with hardware, I would be happy for Nintendo to go 3rd party. (We all know that is not going to happen). Nintendo shakes it up with that crazy N64 controller, the DS screens that people were sure would fail, the Wii motes (not a fan but interesting all the same), and the Wii U controller). Sony and Microsoft kinda just make the same thing over and over with hardware. This is not a bad thing, but it is fun to see someone shake it up a bit.

Nintendo's Phoenix downs are coming in 2014. Enough to make it a perfect second console to compliment the ps4/x1, like the Wii did.

Sony and MS do have the PS Eye, Touchpad on controllers, and Kinect. We have yet to see if devs can make interesting uses from these things, but it is more than just releasing "the next PS/Xbox". Nintendo has had the Wii U out for 9 months at this point and we haven't really seen anything innovative or cutting edge with the Gamepad. Hell, the new Mario Kart game just has a big horn on the touch pad, which is just silly.

I'm inclined to think so too...

People want a single Nintendo system to play Nintendo games on it, imo.

And looking at the success of 3DS, it would make sense to make there next system a handheld.

The WiiU oddly enough doesn't rely on it's Gimmick much like the 3DS.

Yes you can play off screen, Yes there is a Touch Screen.

No, not every game on the WiiU utilizes the Gamepad, at most it's just like having a 2nd monitor.

Not only that, but there's only 2 (count them) 2 games that I have for the WiiU that actually tells me I need to use my Motion Controllers.

WiiU is the more Traditional than the Wii ever was.

Due to a 3DS game, which I acknowledged in my post as being a strong sector of Nintendo's business. Has the Wii U done any wonders for Nintendo's stock since it released?

Not really. The ones saying exclusives don't realize that Nintendo NEEDS to make a console for these exclusives. Sig: Selling Playstation VITA. Comes with Memory card and box. All cables included, comes with PS allstars battle royale. Please PM me your E-mail if you are interested.

There is no scapegoating. He showed a barometer of success through Nintendo's stock price, which was due to a 3DS game. Since this topic is about Wii U, I am asking what the Wii U has been doing for Nintendo's stock, which would easily back up my original point

No, if the Wii U is the best idea that Nintendo could come up with then they should have stayed out of the consoles race until they could come up with a much better idea. if you wanted HD nintendo games they could have made a 200 dollar box with a normal controller, thats not what the Wii U is.

They would probably make more money if they did. I'm sure there are tons of people who would love to play Nintendo games, but aren't going to drop $350 on another platform just to play a handful of titles. Nintendo previously stated that they aren't even making a profit when someone buys a Wii U, and it's not until they buy a game that they have profited. Considering the minuscule userbase of the Wii U,, Nintendo would make even money if they just out the next major Mario/Zelda games on PS4/XBone

Nintendo should have just sacrificed the Tablet controller for better specs and a camera instead of a motion sensor bar. They could have created a bundle with an improved Wii-Remote, Pro Controller, and camera packed in with the console, made Nintendo Land a F2P title with new areas added in updates like PS Home, called it the Wii 2 and sold it for $249-$299. Boom, profit.

come on now this is system wars. You know how these ridiculous things go. It was the same at the ps3 launch. "Too expensive, no games, they'll never recover. They need to just get out now and go software only". Blah blah blah. Now look at the playstation 3 and the hype of the ps4. System wars is the king of overreacting. The wii u will take it on the chin this gen there's no doubt about that. But Nintendo will regroup and come out with something good the next time around. Just like the GameCube bombed which lead to the wii. Wasn't a fan of the wii but can't deny it's success

No, Nintendo needs to just make handhelds and go 3rd Party for consoles. There are no "innovative" 1st party Nintendo titles currently on or coming out on the WiiU so far.

They sure would, but I'm sure Sony pays them nicely since their games move consoles. People only buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games, and hte idea of spend over $400 just to play a handful of games is absurd.

Yes.... because I hate gaming in 480p on a large screen.

[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]

[QUOTE="BPoole96"] They would probably make more money if they did. I'm sure there are tons of people who would love to play Nintendo games, but aren't going to drop $350 on another platform just to play a handful of titles. Nintendo previously stated that they aren't even making a profit when someone buys a Wii U, and it's not until they buy a game that they have profited. Considering the minuscule userbase of the Wii U,, Nintendo would make even money if they just out the next major Mario/Zelda games on PS4/XBoneBPoole96

You know who else would make more money if they went 3rd Party?

Naughty Dog.

They sure would, but I'm sure Sony pays them nicely since their games move consoles. People only buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games, and hte idea of spend over $400 just to play a handful of games is absurd.

Out of people buying the vita for Persona 4, and people buying a PS4/X1 for games that are also coming out on PS3/360, and what you said, people buying a console to play Nintendo exclusives. The latter is worse? Lol okay...

Nope, at least not in its current form. Nintendo should have released a more powerful wii and called it the wii2 and ditched the tablet controller.
