I'm with ya, story was lame but the gameplay was so much fun. Stealth mechanics were actually really solid, weapons had a nice punch, and the hacking stuff made for some fun moments during encounters and car chases.
Got the first game for cheap. I enjoyed what I played, but there are just so many other games in my backlog, so I stopped playing it and moved on to other games before completing it. If the 2nd one looks good, maybe I'll go back to it.

Assassins creed is not coming this year thus watch dogs is alternative. they will be ubisoft's infinity ward and treyarch. one year for AC, other for WD. far cry can also join them. they will continue to make sequels despite first watch dogs was ubisoft biggest faliure. this company never learn.
Neither will gamers. They complain about annuals constantly, then buy the next game like clockwork.
How do you know that the same people who complain about those games are also the same that buy them?

I just saw the live stream and once again another Ubisoft game that "looks" cool but if it'll actually meet or succeeds expectation is another story. I guess the first Watch Dogs left me disappointed because I expected greatness, I guess I fell for the hype, but it ended up just being an ok game. I didn't even finish the damn thing. This sequel gets me excited because the setting is in a city I know, so I'm looking forward to see real life environments in a game, so that's cool plus add in the parkour stuff with drones and remote control cars, all this should be a recipe for fun. I lost Ubisoft's trust with the first Watch Dogs, maybe they'll gain it back with the second one.

Just a visual example to show that people who complain and boycott games, do actually buy them.
I agree excellent game whilst this trash is getting a sequel just to milk money.
Well WD sequel was inevitable knowing Ubi and their deep pockets. I'm willing to bet the sequel will have more variety to their gameplay much like Assassins Creed added a lot to become less repetitive with their sequels, but that isn't saying much considering watchdogs itself is meh while AC1 was somewhat groundbreaking and fresh for its time.
Now as for Sleep Dogs, I'm sad the Devs or perhaps probably SE made them do a failed mmo instead of a sequel. It sold decently and have a cult-ish following, but I think the interest has died down since they had the momentum at the time to have sequel that would had sold even more. Good game :( hope is not one and done.

i watched the live stream of the second one and it didn't grab me ....i mean mostly the world and atmosphere , it's so colorful and doesn't seem serious like the first one ...
Look at the Hitman series, for a series that started with an initial flop and then carried into an amazing franchise in the future. Gamers are so jaded now.
I got the first game for free with a video card, and it actually wasn't a bad game. I ended up finishing it, although, I was short on games to play at the time, so that could have also been it.
