FYI, in Nintendo's book, 1:1 gesture control is less complicated than controlling a game with buttons. So considering that the game will require Motion+, I don't take this news as bad news.

However, if by any chance, Miyamoto decides to alter the structure of the game to create a more accesible game, it can go both ways.

Yet I don't beleive Nintendo can actually make a bad Zelda game.

They have all been getting progressively easier since Ocarina of Time, so it really wouldn't surprise me if they made it even easier. VALikimlav

Ocarina of Time was one of the easiest Zelda games ever. Majora's Mask was more difficult than Ocarina of Time. The Minish Cap was more difficult than Ocarina of Time. Phantom Hourglass was more difficult than Ocarina of Time.

I know that you aren't serious but I actually agree that M64 is better than SMG.

Thunderdrone

Super Mario 64 was more hardcore. Thats why its better

Ah, I remeber the good old times when Gamecube fans only cared about graphics and how hardcore the games were unlike those casual PS2 owners. It's amazing how quickly fans can change their minds when heartless corporations change their agenda.

No, I think M64's leveldesign is more interesting and I like the fact that the levels were less linear. Camera sucks in both games though.

The 2D Zelda's tend to be more difficult overall.

That's strange of them to dumb down Zelda considering Mario is still challenging in the Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario bros. Wii games. I thought they were going to keep the core games challenging and leave the "wii" games dumb for the masses?

I really can't see how Zelda has become "very complicated". Even a game like Fallout 3 that has been dumbed down for casuals laughs in the face of any Zelda game in terms of complexity. Neither do I see how making it any easier is a good thing.

Why is that necessary a good thing?

Sure, it will be for Nintendo as more people will potentially buy it but I don't see how it's going to be a good thing for the game itself.

How is making a game more accessible to play a bad thing?

A lot of games do it. Gears of War is an 'accessible' game to audiences, so is Call of Duty and so is Bayonetta.

I mean Bayonetta only has two buttons that are attack buttons but its still a hard game and damn fun.

I'm just saying more 'accessible' isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just means it's not going to be as complicated to play with a lot of button's mapped to doing things. Also he could just mean replacing button presses with movements because they're using MotionPlus exclusively, which is also a good thing.

Well, Wii is all about bringing gameplay down to its bare bones afterall. People shouldn't expect another TP, thats a game based on their last-gen gameplay ethics. I like the sound of it however, the series needs a good shake up.

eexactly. Complexity has nothing to do with difficulty.

For example, as sales show, 3D SEEMS more complex than 2D games, though at the same time, you can still make uber hard 2D games, and easy 3D ones.

Yes I think they might do away with the amount of weapons/items and simplify the game mechanics. But that doesn't mean the enemies, bosses and puzzles are going to take less thought or skill to overcome.

The game needs an arrow showing you where to go next  .

Worked out well in Shadow of the Colossus.

Zelda has always been far more linear though. Searching for the Colossi would be uber tedious without knowing a rough direction to travel in.

Sigh, why must they make it easier. My main problem with Wind Waker was that it was too easy. I wish they would just add difficulty levels.

I would argue that Majora's Mask is a complicated game. You basically had 3 different iterations of the world, aka 3 different days, and tons of masks + songs that could be used in various ways aswell, for example you had 3 different iterations of all songs too, depending on which transformation you where.

That is TOO many variables, even for me, huge turnoff. Did finnish it though

Well I think the potential is there to make it too shallow if you know what I mean. I don't think they will but I am slightly worried.

I hope they go the Demon's souls route with the next Zelda. No, not in difficulty or punishment but in extremely easily understood controls that you figure out in the first 5 minutes of the game. I just hope they don't make the world around the player too easy.

I don't think you should worry, really.

I mean if it is easy overall I don't think I'd mind but I know a lot of people will, but I think they might just make it challenging enough. Also considering this is the first actual Wii version of Zelda (TP being a GameCube port) -- I'm hoping for Wii specific items and Wii specific puzzles, which in the end could be very clever and done well and prove to be challenging.

By the way, I really think the claims of Twilight Princess being too easy are exaggerated. Sure, you don't die a lot, but in such a long game as TP (which has, for as far I know, the longest story mode in any Zelda to date by quite a stretch), I would hate to have to do certain parts over and over again. I thought there were some challenging puzzles (then again, puzzling is not my strongest side so it might be just me), and the battling is superior to that in its predecessor. In the end, TP wasn't that hard of a game, but I think Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time were way easier.

Legitimate? This is all SPECULATION. Only thing we have on Other M are a couple of trailers. What do you think they are gonna show, Samus backtracking her way through an enemyless maze? And focusing on action means its casualised now? I thought Ninja Gaiden, DMC and GoW where bastions of the hardcore church.

nono you got it wrong, Metroid is about isolation and exploration damnit!!

On a more serious note, it is more action-oriented they've said

For me, I am in love with the game. A true Metroidvania Wii experience. Not just the 2D sidescrolling part, but also fully realizing Wii features in good ways, in other words the perfect package. Easy? Auto-aim? I'm down with that ;p

and the other thing, I respect the PS2 but seriously, I was much more happy with GC titles. Prime, Windwaker and RE4 = GOTY titles. It was an insane period for me.

[QUOTE="JLF1"]This has me really really worried. Zelda does not need to be easier than it already is. :(Rhazakna

He said the same thing about SMG. How did that turn out?

He said the same thing about NSMBW. How did that turn out?

He said the same thing about Galaxy 2. What is the consensus on that game so far?

Like always, he said easier to "play", not to finish. Intuitive controls and barrier elimination, not grandma-friendly.

I hate this generation.

He claims Zelda has become "very complicated". I can think of nothing in Zelda that needs simplification. Also, the diffculty doesn't need to be reduced whatsoever. TP was one of the easiest Zelda's yet.

SMG was the first proper 3D Mario title since SM64. Zelda is not the same as Mario, at all.

TBH i thought in TP the weapon wheel was unnecessary and complicated. Maybe not complicated byt annoying and frustrating. Give me regular inventory screen kthxbai.

I have full confidence in nintendo. Zelda TP was a good entry, it wasnt ground breaking superb but it was solid. SMG was fantastic, NSMB wii was fantastic. They only fault nintendo really have is that they havent been pushing out core titles enough. When they do though, they all deliver.

Once you knew how to fight the final boss in OoT, it was ridiculously easy as well. In fact, in my three playthroughs of Ocarina of Time, the only time I've been killed in a bossfight was against Volvagia, and even that was more due to dumbness than it actually being hard.

People have a statement from the man himself suggesting an already simple game is going to be made less complicated, they don't know why or what that means and they're hoping for the best and speculating on the worst and YOU seem to have a problem with it.

Chill, relax. What is any of this to you? If you have as much faith in Nintendo as you say, then all this is irrelevant. Unless you don't!

[QUOTE="Thunderdrone"]I hate this generation.

Being a wii gamer I can see why.

I'm sorry you are a little sensitive. It's okay, take a walk and come back. I know, there are people here who actually like the Wii, I mean it might be a bit hard for you to understand, but after that walk, it should help.

How on earth was I being sensitive?

[QUOTE="JLF1"]This has me really really worried. Zelda does not need to be easier than it already is. :(Thunderdrone

He said the same thing about SMG. How did that turn out? Easiest Mario out there.... I got bored of the effortless progression.

He said the same thing about NSMBW. How did that turn out? Incredible Easy compared to the ****cs....

He said the same thing about Galaxy 2. What is the consensus on that game so far?

Like always, he said easier to "play", not to finish. Intuitive controls and barrier elimination, not grandma-friendly.

I hate this generation.

You hate it because you dont like us veteran gamers wanting difficult games? and please... nothign about SMG was "Hard to finish" .... I find Wii fans to be nearly as bad as Mac Fans .... bad justification one after another for something offering less and less.

Oh I see you're back, are you good now? Ready to accept that there are people who like the Wii here? :). Back on topic -- like I said, going accessible isn't necessarily a bad thing. People who think this is bad are those self-proclaimed hardcore gamers and I find it rather amusing.

What are you talking about, am I back? I've not gone anywhere. And yes, there are people who actually like the wii. There are people who like Morris Dancing too, doesn't mean I have to take them seriously.

This isn't true. Most of the comments on this thread who are thinking the worst are Zelda fans who are fearing for their favourite franchise. The rest don't care quite as much because why would they?

People who take the time to quote and reply to me deserve an answer, feedback, reaction or whatever from me.

Well, most people anyway.

What is any of this to you? If you have as much faith in Nintendo as you say, then all this is irrelevant. Unless you don't!
