I've always wanted to say this, and i'm gonna say it now, this gen needs more games like STALKER.

STALKER is the one of the first games I experienced with such a great atmosphere and persistent world. Enemies were really well designed and the RPG elements fit nicely with the core FPS gameplay.

If you play in a nice chilly room and play STALKER, it feels like you're actually in the game!

I wish we had more of such games. STALKER could've scored so much higher if it weren't for some of the bugs and glitches.

I forgot to state I've only played the first STALKER and not Clear Sky. Also, you have to experience STALKER for yourself to see what i'm talking about, watching videos would be boring.

I disagree. I wouldn't want to play clones of any game. I'd want to see something else be its own original work.

Who said anything about a clone? I just said I would like to see games similar to what STALKER did for me..

STALKER is a great game, if only the devs would have taken the time to debug the game. Its amazing that both the first and second are filled with not only graphical glitches, but also other glitches, I suppose that some are to be expected due to the fact that it is an openworld-ish game.

There are definitely some design elements that should be incorporated in more games. If that's what you mean by "like Stalker" than I agree.

If by "like Stalker" you meant Stalker-esque, I'm not so sure. I support creative game design, not me-tooism.

Alright then.

I think more games should use nonlinear persistent worlds, I like to have an impact on said game world, and I like when the atmosphere is legitimately chilling.

We need more games like Stalker. ;)

Agreed. FPS this gen are way to easy, :( and all of them use regenerable (is that a word?) health. I would love to see some FPS that take thought.

Do we need more games that try to ambitious like STALKER- YES

Do we need more games where they release unfininished and unpolished(bu bu the modzz and patchesers)- HELL NO.

That said Shadow of Chernboyl was an awesome experience.

It would have scored higher if it wasent released in a beta state.

Its a fantastic game - goes to show interesting shooter design is more enjoyable than another linear, corridoor waddling shooter, that plays like predictable thrillride.

Both these games are made by some dudes that left GSC when Stalker was in developement hell.

And I find it funny how many people bash Stalker and hype Far Cry 2, which is basically Stalker in Africa.

Yeah, more atmospheric non-linear shooters would be great. I doubt Fallout3 can make the shooting or atmosphere good enough to be counted, but otherwise something like that set in a post-apocalyptic wastelands with mutants and big guns would make for a great FPS setting. I'd certainly prefer that over another linear alien invasion game.

We do need more games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. don't we? Those bugs and glitches in the game make your purchase all the more worthwhile.

If you purhased it, I must say: Patrick Star, you are one smart shopper.

too bad the shooting part of stalker blows. guys take a thousand shots to die unless you hit the headshot (hard to do when there are tons of them around you). The guns look like crap, sound like crap, and put out almost no damage (two powered up shotgun blasts point blank to kill someone? no thanks). its basically a crappier version of killzone 1 mixed in with some rpgness

I'd say FC2 might be quite different in a few regards - its procedural storytelling and what not, but indeed you do have a point.

Whilst I whole heatedly agree, this is the wrong place to come and say it. System wars is full of a lot of cows and lemmings who hate anything that is not on their system. I mean take a look at the very first responce you got, I knew that was coming before I even clicked on the thread...and from the person posting :P

Yep, they'll pick out 7.5 and the list of bugs it had at the beginning and ignore anything positive about the game. But that's the fun of system wars lol.

I hardly see what you're trying to accomplish here. Neither Cod4 nor Halo 3 brought any serious innovation or anything "special" to the genre.

While Stalker may not have invented the game mechanics, it is certainly in a special clas$ of shooters.

Why make such insignificant arguments about his ownership of the games, despite him being in a viable position to vouch for there innovation? What's the point?

despite how it's buggy as hell, i say that more FPS games need a bigger open-world environment (and Crysis is NOT a good example of one)

but I don't want the market to be flooded with these kind of FPS games though. I want the devs of Stalker to clean up their act and make some stable games with reasonable requirements.

It is.

Whether it be how the dev and community work together, the online structure, the epic feel of the campaign, the replayability of the campaign due to skulls and achievements, the continuous support of Bungie, who are releasing 6 more maps, each with a unique skull, and many other things. Along with the fact Bungie released this game very polished as opposed to STALKER clearly makes it more special.
