We do need more games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. don't we? Those bugs and glitches in the game make your purchase all the more worthwhile.

If you purhased it, I must say: Patrick Star, you are one smart shopper.

scar-hawk

I hate stupid posts like this :| STALKER has been out for a long time.. The majority of its bugs have been stamped out.. No one is saying that the bugs were a good thing, but they were fixed.. Move on, and actually try to give a rational and intelligent response, instead of one that lacks both.

yay more buggy games !

How can hermits put up with this crap ? Thank God they get patches in like a month after the game.

AtrumRegina

Yes, because by more games like STALKER, he obviously meant that we should have the cons of stalker put into other games...

How can consolites put up with being morons?

Dear God no. I've already put quite a few hours into clear sky, and it feels like I'm playing a BETA release. It's pitiful. Amazing game... but not so amazing experience with all the bugs.

Yes, indeed we do. STALKER was probably the greatest shooter experience of my life. It isn't the best one I've played but it was the best "experience" since it felt so real (in a sense) and make me fear for my very life when I was in the X Labs and nearly messing myself.

X18 and X20... both diabolically creepy places where no one should ever be forced to go to progress a story.

Yes, STALKER is a very good game. Everybody should experience STALKER and STALKER: Clear Sly. STALKER is a really nice game. More games should be like STALKER.

STALKER.

I don't know, but they make it look too easy.

imo Stalker has next gen spirit. It's heading in the right direction. Todays games are all the same.

In terms of its quality, yes. But the last thing anyone wants is a game released in a broken and unfinished state.

I like both SoC and Clear Sky, but GSC totally let me down when they allowed the game to be released in a horribly buggy state. They've done this twice in a row and the least they could've done was make it a little less buggy than before. Not make it worse.

Both STALKER games would've definately been much more appreciated by critics if the bugs weren't so bad.

I agree totally. And not just bugs. there are some design issues too. Like the emission system in Clear sky is broken at best. But, as i say this, I consider Clear Sky to be the epitome of gaming this generation.

So you don't own it but can say they aren't special?

LOOOOL

SSCyborg

I hardly see what you're trying to accomplish here. Neither Cod4 nor Halo 3 brought any serious innovation or anything "special" to the genre.

While Stalker may not have invented the game mechanics, it is certainly in a special clas$ of shooters.

Why make such insignificant arguments about his ownership of the games, despite him being in a viable position to vouch for there innovation? What's the point?

HALO>STALKER tbh

well he is from the LEMMING ARMY sooooooo thats says alot :P

I first played Shadow of Chernobyl well after all the bugs had been fixed and am glad to have waited. I probably won't play Clear Sky for a while yet. It is sad that such great games have been released in such a poor state.

And that's why I find the game so satisfying. I have joined Freedom, and I am at now fighting in Duty in their own territory. And I am just completely swamped by these guys. Now they are actually coming to me and fighting me, from their base. I don't have the resources to fight them off. This feeling of impending doom is something I find unique and is something lacking from any of the big FPS this gen... including Crysis.

I agree and this is what made it special to me, this is also why i didn't like the end. The sneeking through brush, ambushing, and sniping were awesome.

Exactly

Do I have enough medpacks/bandages?

Do I have enough ammo?

How good is the armor they're wearing?

How far away are they?

Are any of their friends nearby?

Where's the nearest piece of cover?

You have to ask yourself all this stuff so you can make it out of the battle and use supplies sparingly

X18 and X20... both diabolically creepy places where no one should ever be forced to go to progress a story.

I replayed Stalker 4 times, and each time I went there only when I really had no more new secondary quests to do. It's incredibly scary... Condemned, Penumbra, Resident Evil are nothing compared to these labs, only Undying scared me liked that.

I played Clear Sky for a few hours, and I find it just as creepy. And now pretty much every area except Cordon is freaky. I was scared ****less in broad daylight:|

It was in a field of springboard, whirlgig, and burners. I wont tell you where it is, as you should be exploring. But i put up one hell of a fight, and the artifact was worth it.

Didnt know that BP and WG were/are being made by ex GSC devs, interesting.

Baranga

And they also make Precursors, a game I instantly decided to buy when I saw this screenshot:

Only 13 people worked on Boiling Point.

Yeah boiling point was phenominal for such a small dev team.

I hope The Precursors turns out well, and isnt over ambitious, resulting in a so so exectution.

I think we have enough 7.5s in the world. :roll:Cedmln

The first STALKER got 8.5, and the bugs the reviewer complained about have been fixed in patches.

As for Clear Sky, the reviewers complained about the bugs and the difficulty. The bugs are easily fixed, and the difficulty is simply a matter of opinion (some gamers actually like challenging, brutal games). Don't take the 7.5 as gospel - there's almost certainly a great game under there.

*Edit* Anyway, yeah, I totally agree that we need more of these non-mainstream, non-generic games. I'm getting rather sick of franchises that refuse to take risks.

It got 8.5, and a number score shouldn't ever determine how "good" a game is - due to the simple fact that everyone has different opinions of good and bad.

Hence the differing tastes of PC and console gamers.
