What an amazing experience this game is. There is nothing like trekking across the Zone, in the dead of night, hearing naught but ambient nature noises and the occasional howl, scanning the horizon uneasily, only to be suddenly lunged at by something lurking in the shadows...
We need more games like this, across all platforms. Uncompromising games that do not hold your hand, and make no excuses about it. Games built upon unique, fully realized settings, that require cunning and puzzle solving to simply survive. There is literally so much this game does right... we need more like it. For those who have yet to discover this game, or the series in general (although I cannot speak for Clear Sky), I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a shot.
... and since this is System Wars, why not showcase the graphics?
Here are some of my screens:
This game is beautiful. I cannot help but stop and marvel at the amazing texture work sometimes.
The Stalker series is unmatched in terms of atmosphere, in my opinion. There is nothing like the Zone...
The lighting effects are simply stunning in this game. It is too bad that the sun rays are hard to capture in screens...
My hunt for tools for an NPC in-game led me to this abadoned mill. I would also find artifacts inside (one of my favorite aspects of the game [hunting for artifacts]).
Best shot I was able to get of the sun rays. It is a little difficult to see.
Nothing better showcases Call of Pripyat's aesthetic appeal than the rain; the dynamic wet surfaces really have to be seen to be believed.
Night is black and dangerous in Call of Pripyat. You need to keep your eyes and ears open.
The attention to detail is amazing. Look at the textures on his coat...
My search for artifacts takes me to the dense scrub. There are mutants lurking in there...
Another shot showcasing the superb texture work.
Beautiful game, overall.
