Microsoft’s $329 Xbox One Bundle is Dominating Black Friday

Market research firm InfoScout has posted the following graph following data research on Black Friday sales:

In America, there is no bigger sales day than Black Friday. Its significance is a major factor for video game hardware sales, propelling consoles that usually sell anywhere from 80,000 to 400,000 units per month into the millions. It goes without saying that succeeding on Black Friday is an objective for Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.

While all three console manufacturers have big deals this Black Friday, there’s one in particular that stands out: the Xbox One. Sony and Nintendo have been content with packaging several games into a bundle sold at normal MSRP, while Microsoft has gone beyond that with a $20 price reduction beyond its holiday price cut. The result is one that will undoubtedly affect the market share of all three companies.

Within hours of opening their doors there are already reports of Best Buy, Target, and Walmart selling out of the $329 Xbox One Assassin’s Creed bundle. User Vestal on NeoGAF even took a photo of stock at his local Target. Check it out for yourself and notice the absence of the Xbox One:

Lastly, here’s exhibit #3 from a Target taken by user ViciousDS. Notice the Xbox One section on the right is completely empty.

It’s important to note that some retailers have just started selling these bundles within the past four hours, while many haven’t even opened their doors (i.e. GameStop). Heck, it’s not even technically Black Friday yet. Still, early anecdotes point to the Xbox One being in extremely high demand.

A look at Amazon’s Video Game Best Sellers list reinforces the notion that the Xbox One is performing well on Black Friday It shows the Xbox One at the coveted #1 spot for its first time ever. Hardware rarely finds itself in the top 5, let alone at #1 on the biggest sales day of the year.

We won’t know what this all means until sales charts are released. However, there’s no doubt that Microsoft’s big move this holiday season has had a huge impact. We’ll find out how well each console sold when November 2014′s NPD Group figures are released in early December.

we already know the console stumbled out the gate a little in comparison to the ps4. we're talking about the resurgence here though. and the system is on an upswing in sales it seems, as of NOW.

also, they were sold out and restocked. all the reports were of them selling out at most retailers. but if you follow them on twitter they announced restocks just the other day.

so them selling out and having to replenish their stocks doesnt show anything but their system has been selling out like crazy. so much so that they had to pump more consoles out to the market...so posting those 'available now' links is kind of a half truth to the situation.

the Xbox One is selling at a crazy rate right now.

and so is the ps4... for the whole year

look everyone expect the xposbone to win november it's a no brainer with all those deals all over the place, sony don' t have to compete as they have the fastest selling console so far under their belt with a lead in total consoles sold world wide

Just checked Best Buy stores near me, every single one of them has the Xbox One AC bundle in stock. That's just the first 25 or so stores on the list. In stock online too.

Also in stock on Amazon...at Fry's...online at Target and every Target near me...and on and on.

True about last year (it's funny how MS and Sony consoles have the same BF marketshare this year) but last year the PS4 had an extra week on sale and the Xbone was still $500 with no games.

I'd say the Xbone won the month, but it'll be by about 100k or something. Won't do much to dent the PS4's million unit lead.

The fact that MS had to dip under $170 off their original sticker price and bundle two games with the machine to get any kind of momentum is pretty damning. The Xbox is literally drinking it's own pee to survive.

Hmmm when I went out I pretty much saw both consoles equally stocked up

I just got back from Best Buy. All the PS4s were gone and the Xbones were piled up in a stack taller than Shaq. The Best Buy employes were begging people to just take the Xbones to stop the stack from growing but the customers said they didn't even want that shit for free.

This story I just told is proof that Xbone will be outsold by PS4 in November's NPD. My words: mark them.

Really not that big of a deal, of course people are gonna buy an XB1 now, but after January 1st when it goes back up to 400 and 500 bucks people will be back to buying PS4's. It wont last unless M$ keeps the price somewhere around the $350 mark for the kinectless sku and $450 for full Kinect bundle.

Your post is confusing me. I didn't see anyone say it is the best seller for the year. What I do see, is people saying it is currently the top seller. I also believe they meant sold out at certain locations not across the U.S. However, I highly doubt those stores actually sold out. There was probably more in the stock room or something.

For me, I just don't care. When you essentially roll out three or four years worth of price cuts after rolling out your biggest franchise, it's stupid to not expect a significant bump. I'm just not impressed. If I were an XBone owner, I'd be questioning what MSes plans were for catering to the Wal-Mart shopper at this point.

I remember them being incredibly wrong last year

I'm not a fanboy and jumped on the UC bundle and got the master chief collection free. My gaming setup is now complete. I own all 3 systems and a good gaming PC. As far as the NPD, who gives a flying ducky?! Enjoy all these systems have and will have to offer. Variety is the spice of life.

This is getting a little sad now.

Poor Nintendo. I remember 2007-2009 when Sheep were all about teh sales and "Blue Ocean Strategy"..... but look at the market now. :(
