“E3 is always a big time for Nintendo. We look at each E3 as a unique opportunity to tell our story. And we’re gonna have a big E3 this year. We’re going to be showcasing a variety of games. We will have experiences for… consumers will be able to attend the show for the very first time. So I’m not gonna tell you all of the various games and all of our little secrets for E3, but I can tell you that E3 is going to be a major opportunity for us to showcase not only Nintendo Switch, but also content coming to Nintendo 3DS.”

Nintendo has not had an E3 stage show since 2012, in five years now. It's really exciting to think of what they may have planned for their first show in half a decade. New Metroid game, pls?

This is going to be the first E3 since I can remember that I think all 3 are going to deliver big time!

This is the first E3 in about 5 five years I can honestly say I'm looking forward to.

Most likely the standard underwhelming presentation that Nintendo is known for. Anyone expecting anything else is ignoring history.

Nintendo has a wildly inconsistent history at E3- at times they have their 'underwhelming presentation', sure, at other times they knock it out of the park.

Damn, I was hoping for another Muppet Show Direct. What a waste of money E3 is. Scripted event, scripted crowds, it is irrelevant in today's day and age.

Seriously though, this will be the first E3 after the launch of the Switch and the prime time to come out with a strong showing for the future. If they don't (and the past has shown a worrisome trend), I think the Switch's future will be in doubt. They'd best put in their all.

Finally a stage. That's a start.

This E3 is going to be huge. I'm hyped for all 3!

What does Nintendo / platinum Games be bringing to the table is my main concern. PG are quite supportive with Nintendo with 1 awesome new IP, the best action game of all time with the previous installment ported to the Wiiu, a So and so star fox game...

Nintendoboy gets laid, Tormentos grows new thumbs, Champ learns to love gamers and develops a story driven game about it, Blab becomes an admin, Darkspineslayer sprouts a full head of brown hair, Mems starts liking good games, Cainetao gets in touch with his inner weeb, Bluehazy finds the fountain of youth, Ronvalencia becomes human, JumpAction tells someone to shut up, Conan stops being a jerk... this would be one hell of an event!

Seriously though, that'd be the most bad ass possible way to lead in. Start with that, show a slew of good content afterwards, no filler (yeah right), and finish off with a bangin showcase of Mario Odyssey. Yes plz.

I certainly hope so. Their past E3s werent all that great. As great as Zelda was, you need more than 2 games.

anyway i hope so. i would love to see what retro are up to. a new monster hunter would also be brilliant. monster hunter, metroid, mario, xenoblade 2....not too shabby. a new pokemon for the switch also. i just wouldnt be able to resist for much longer.

hopefully some surprises too and if there is something nice to give my 3DS a good send off all the better.

nintendos own output has been very low for the last couple of years (mainly small 3DS games and a couple of small wii u titles and switch ports). i certainly find it hard to believe that we have seen everything the switch will have for the next 18 months.

just remember nintendo: E3 is all about the hype and bombshells. if you have nothing ready to release then do what sony did last year (or the year before? when was the FF7 remake teaser?) and bluff it.

That makes sense. Get a stage for a convention that laughed them out. Then again, it's the same company that allowed Smash at EVO.

At least if they show something stupid only on stream, the embarrassment is less colossal. Besides, name ONE thing from modern Nintendo you DON'T find stupid because you bash them even when they're praised. In that regard, what does that matter to you?

I loved their 2014 show, pre show Mega 64, robot chicken, dev insight etc etc. Even if it wasn't staged I found it way more fun and inventive. If this year is as good, they can put some recorded audience cheer for all I care. Also Treehouse streams FTW.

Glad to see them return. They have a lot of games to show to really impress the nay sayers.

Personally, I'm just happy that they are seeing the importance of having a presence this year. The Switch is cool. Promote it and any sexy games in the works :-D Also hoping they promote some of the indies as well

I'd like to see them live and on the main page. The Directs are lame.

A million times this. Being at E3 this year is a sign that they are taking themselves and gamers seriously this time. Nintendo had no confidence in the WiiU and it was sadly obvious they were acting like a gaming company hiding out in their bomb shelter til the fallout passed.

Switch is a solid concept from an improved Nintendo. Hard lessons were learned, but now is the time to get out and play in the Sun. Good on them for not being tone-deaf. The fact Switch is region-free and will have a serious online service is also the right start to all of this.

@metalslimenite: I do enjoy online Shooters. Splatoon is a great fix for that. But I also grew up playing NES. I like Mario, Punch Out, Megaman, Contra, etc.

I'm interested in seeing what Nintendo's subscription is all about and what you get. I'm ok with the Switch being a retro handheld, with great Nintendo exclusives, but right now it's lacking for me and I really hope they do step it up.

The only thing that would prevent me from getting a Switch is Sony or MS announcing they are ripping off the Switch and making something similar that will do it better.

Show off a new Metroid that feels like a Prime game. 1st person, alone (no NPC's or very few), no hand holding, make it hard as shit, make it fully explorable but keep the weapons/upgrades. Make it look great and don't worry about multiplayer on it. That'll do pig... that'll do.

they could have a great e3 with at least 1 new ip, show whatever retro is working on (hopefully this is the new ip; it's about that time, right?) and perhaps revive a dormant franchise like f-zero, custom robo or advanced wars!? that would be cool.
