Well, Final Fantasy XIII-2 turned out to be unexpectedly good...

The characterization is cringe inducing: You thought Vanille and Hope were bad? Wait till you get to suffer Noel and Serah. They're like caricatures of the bro gamer's impression of typical JRPG characters, they're so bad.

Voice acting: Don't even get me started. Please.

Im sorry but I couldint disagree with you more. Voice acting is well done and I find the characters enjoyable to be around.

I didn't have any plans on getting the sequel. I enjoyed FFXIII.but I wasn't crazy about it and it was flawed, so I figured I'd save some money and just ignore the sequel. Perhaps I'll get the game myself down the road and check out the game for myself.

I'm much more interested in The Last Story. I think Sakaguchi is the man, but hey, if his game doesn't release in the US, at least I have Xenoblade to try out. Xenoblade still doesn't look that interesting as a JRPG to me. The Last Story does. But, with all the praise that Xenoblade received I'm willing to try it out.

Same here. I got most of my Gamecube games after this gen began, and played them on my Wii. F*cking ironic, that.

No JRPG has received universal acclaim like Xenoblade, at least on the console side of things, but the handhelds have been doing well. For me personally examples of bad voice acting is some of the characters in star ocean 4 and basicly everything in arc rise fantasia.

They're expanding into the US, and they wanted a PR manager who'd build and sustain relationships with game companies and review hardware and software for them. So far, I've been in touch with over forty nine game companies. It's pretty neat :D Anyway, I've been playing through this game at an insane pace. At first, I was only doing it because I had to, but now, I'm just playing it because I want to. It brings that old excitement that playing a JRPG would bring in me long ago, you know? No. Im pretty sure it's awful. Perhaps a slight improvement on FFXIII, but still god awful.

And I say this without playing it, based entirely on the demo.

Im about 25 hours in, its pretty dang good.

It has a TON of stuff that 13 doesnt offer, they did have to take a small step back in graphics and framerate but it still looks and runs great, very polished.

If it keeps it up, im probably going to rate it 8.5-9.0

I'm with you TC, FF XIII was a pile of turd, but FF XIII-2 is enjoyable, except for the story and horrible characters

I hate how they removed linearity and i'm not joking, FFXIII was a great game and i really like how it was straight to the point, no more bland towns with equally bland people to "talk", it was perfect for guys like me who doesn't have much time to play, FFXIII-2 looks ok, but i don't think i will get it the near future.

to be honest I could care less about towns or usless npc which jrpgs had for freaking years. Though I do like the extra arm room that 13-2 gives in maps. Its not to big like ff12 and not to small.

I am on chapter 7 in FFXIII and I live the game so far. I was expecting to hate it from all the hate I have read hear. But I have come to realize that haters just love to hate. Most of those that hate FFXIII liked FFX, so I can't bring myself to value their opinion anyways cause FFX sucked.AmazonTreeBoa

i personally never hated FF13, the only thing i hated was the dialogue. Other then that, I like the pacing alot even if the battle system was....interesting.

I liked XIII, and have no interest in XIII-2. Serah/Noel + Pokemon is a deal breaker for me. I want Lightning. :cry:

Xenoblade is good, but XIII-2 is definitely better I think.

Well, that's because it's a good game. But it had a few kinks. Anyway, important thing to note is that the best console JRPG this gen is Tales of Vesperia. Straight up.

4 once I agree with Vesperia is so under-rated it used all the cliches of JRPG"s but in a good way.
