Yep, I rented Cloverfield (HD Version) off of the Playstation Video Store for 6 bucks...well I watched it Thursday night, so my Dad asked me about it and wanted to watch it sooooo I got the PS3 set up in the living room so that he could watch it....

Anyways I go to play it and I can't because time has expired. TIME HAS EXPIRED?! I watched the freakin thing one time and only had it for about a day and a half, come to find out once you playback the movie you only have 24 hours worth of access afterwards....

So essentially I'm paying 6 dollars for a one night rental...BULL****! That's it I'm done with the PS Video Store until they fix that crap, total ripoff.

Do you not pay attention to the terms and conditions before you purchase/agree to something? The joke's on you, man.

It's the same with the 360 service, and I agree it's BS. They're charging quite a bit for "renting" something that doesn't actually exist in physical form. You're just downloading rights to watch the movie for a certain period of time, so it should be 3-4 bucks at most.

How much are 360 downloads? I've never really paid attention, because it's in internet-points-money. It always seemed reasonable to me though, whenever i've used it in the past. Also, i'm fairly sure you have more than 24 hours to watch a movie. I think it's 24 hours once you start watching it.

It's basically the same thing when you rent a new release from a store. Might as well buy the thing (in general I mean, Cloverfield sucks and I'm sorry I bought it!)

I can't say i feel for you. You should be doing the research before you pay for anything. There must have been some TOS that you should have read before you set up an account.

Same as PS video store, $5 - 7

Though I think some movies are cheaper on the PSV store.

Eh, I rented one movie from the PSN store. Death At A Funeral. I think I watched it twice. 24 hours was really all I needed with it.

Wrong. Sony didn't "rip" you in any way, shape, or form. You willingly GAVE them your money. If you aren't happy with the circumstances of the transaction, that's on you. You should pay more attention next time. Don't come on here looking for sympathy when you're the one at fault.

I choose to rent from local places, mainly because I get to keep them for a week for less money. Both DL services are a rip off, but I have used them when me or my gf get the urge to watch a movie at 1AM.

Fair enough but no matter how you look at it...

1 Movie for 1 night for 6 bucks = Ripoff

I'll stick with Hollywood videos or Blockbuster, thank you very much.

I think you guys are a bit dellusional.

Unless it's a really old film, I wouldnt expect more than a "rent" for only 6 bucks.

When was the last time any of you saw a film on Bluray for 6$? That just doesnt exist.

The terms are very clearly laid out, and are the pretty much the same as MS's on rentals. Only difference is Sony allows you to buy some movies as well.

I think every company in existence cares about their customers enough to keep said customers happy enough to continue buying that company's products.

Yeah, it should be more than 24 hours. Otherwise getting a blu-ray movie from blockbuster/netflix is more appealing. Or at least lower the price.

This is why the 360/Netflix deal is so cool. Netflix is already amazing, but add to that the ability to stream in movies for those moments when you just need something suddenly and you have a win.

Ya know I'm not one of those guys who's going to put someone down for not reading the TOS, because c'mon, no one reads those. But ya know, something important like how long you get the movie for is something that you want to look into. This is truly your fault.

Although that sucks, that's how it is on both ps3 and 360 (wow, something in common! i know!) but i mean there is no real good reason to rent from there considering the same price you get a dvd (or bluray) copy and can watch it as much as you want. I think they should consider changing the terms so you rent it for 1 week, and can have it for a week then it expires. That way it more resembles real rental stores more accurately. It's not like they need it back to rent out elsewhere, makes no sense eh?

Here is a tip...

Get Netflix. For the price of 3 PSN rentals you can have 2 movies out at a time (you can get 16 movies per month if you watch and return them the same day they arrive) and unlimited instant viewing. Not to mention 360 will be able to play instant movies in the fall.

A standard TV rental is around $3

It's $4.50 to rent something in HD.

It's about the same as a rental store, except for the 24 hour thing.... considering you can't take the DvD over to your friend's house though, I admit that time should be a lot longer.

$6 for rental. Is that not normal? I think we pay about $10 at blockbuster in Denmark.

Atleast you have access to the video store unlike us Europeans -.-

That's it I'm done with the PS Video Store until they fix that crap, total ripoff.

jazreal

Do you not pay attention to the terms and conditions before you purchase/agree to something? The joke's on you, man.

I don't rent anything from the net or even on TV service. I found a deal a while back at BlockBuster where I can get any movie or game (one at a time) for $21.99 per month and I can keep a single game or movie up to 30 days if I want to with no problem. The nice thing is the local Blockbuster is in the same shopping center I go to purchase groceries or it's about a 5 minute drive from the house.

Erm, thats how it works. Its same on the 360 store or even if you go to Blockbuster and rent out a film. If you're not going to the store again just because of that, you're losing more then Sony is.

Hey you live and you learn, Sony ripped me 6 bucks on their wackass Video Store and that's all they'll get from me. Bastards.

Wrong. Sony didn't "rip" you in any way, shape, or form. You willingly GAVE them your money. If you aren't happy with the circumstances of the transaction, that's on you. You should pay more attention next time. Don't come on here looking for sympathy when you're the one at fault.

Fair enough but no matter how you look at it...

1 Movie for 1 night for 6 bucks = Ripoff

I'll stick with Hollywood videos or Blockbuster, thank you very much.

or netflix, you get bluray rentals for cheap with this service.

He does that a lot, doesn't he? Credibility isn't for everyone.

You should have booked it for more than one day, can you do that? (dont have it in the uk yet)
