Basically, what five things in COD would you get rid of/change in order to improve the series? At the moment, COD series is getting very stale and I would do 5 changes to the series:

-Stop Yearly Releases

-Get rid of killstreaks, too cheap of them

-Get rid of quickscoping

-Add in way bigger maps and not camp friendly

-More objective based

I would change up the shooting mechanics to have more recoil, remove hitscan, and improve handle and feel overall.

I would reduce the amount of AI but increase their difficulty. Make the firefights not as much about mowing down dozens of guys but increase the thrill of being in a firefight.

I would make the battles larger and focus more on being just a solider in a large battle (like it was always supposed to be). It would still be linear.

I would change the killstreak system to a pure EXP and point bonus over getting free kills for doing good. I would keep the perk system though and expand on the class-based multiplayer.

I would force more objective based play with much more defined roles. Not like BF3 where you have your engineer and your sniper, but where the players can make their own hybrid models of classes. Some would be a straight up engineer or sniper but others would be a hybrid. Ok at multiple roles but excellent at none.

1. Make it more class based. This means guns, perks and attachments are all only available to certain class groups. 2. Trueskill servers. Why should a .75 K/D working adult who maybe plays 4 hours a week have to play with some 15 year old with a 1.65 K/D that has nothing better to do than play CoD 8 hours a day. 3. Give us a better reason to prestige besides an emblem and some double XP!! How about if certain guns, perks and attachments are only available after prestiging. Mind you, Im not talking about something that would give a tremendous adavantage, but still its better than what they are currently doing. 4. STOP the yearly releases!!!! I say let IW and treyarch bid for the franchise and be done with it!!! May the dev with the deepest pockets win!!! 5. Spawning on teammates!!

1. Go from an annual to a biennial release timing system, and give the series wholly to either IW, Sledgehammer or Treyarch, get the others developing new IP's. 2. Make the SP campaign, well, more like CoD 4, longer than the most recent ones with a more original plotline, better characters, less OTT set pieces and generally a better atmosphere than your average Michael Bay film. 3. Fix the balance issues. Find some way to turn killstreaks less from insta-win buttons and more into a risk/reward type thing. Black Ops was a step in the right direction in this regard. In the same vein, balance the perks better, at the same time making them more varied, everybody in the game should be using a different perk combination which suits their personal playstyle best, rather than one which is objectively better than all the others. 4. Sheerly better tech. Use a more advanced engine, most likely id Tech 5 (Rage, Doom 4), as opposed to 3, add some sort of destruction physics into the maps, if not overly so, enough to put off campers a bit, improve the aesthetic of the game and map design, make the maps slightly bigger, if not Battlefield levels, which wouldn't really suit the style of the game at all, enough to run around a bit in without always coming across enemies, fix spawn points, improve how the guns feel and the sound design. 5. Put more work into the PC port - this is the roots of the series, after all. Allow a modding scene, include dedicated servers which you might actually want to play on

1. Larger maps, with more of a "war" feel. Running round a small random assortment of corridors is not a proper battle imo.

2. More players in each map. Base amount of players should be 16, ground war should have 32 and then an all out "war" mode with 64 players. Could be interesting.

3. Change the game engine. Maybe add it some destruction, a small amount to buildings, but alot to the floors and such so the map afterwards is full of craters n stuff. And change those god awful graphics.

4. More, varied and balanced weapons, perks & killstreaks. Not more killstreaks, these just need to be balanced.

5. Make a game mode exclusively for quickscoping, and add something to stop it on every other game mode. I don't know how, but keep quickscoping out of your run of the mill game mode.

For single player

1. bigger maps

2. longer campaign (CoD 2 length was perfect)

3. several alternate routes within the maps

4. less scripted (lol, like that will ever happen)

5. release once every 2 years...yearly is too much

1. Deeper weapon customization - i.e. bullet calibers; piercing v. stopping power, more balanced attachments (scopes really shouldn't count towards attachment count), choice of magazine sizes (larger takes longer to reload), length of barrel; range v. fire rate. 2. Bigger maps - The chaotic nature of the game is it's selling point, but some game types lend themselves better to larger areas with more choke points. Not everything has to be TDM. 3. More guns - This game feels like it should be classified as "gun porn" (Black notwithstanding). The paltry selection of guns is an insult to the whole ideal of "customization." I want to be able to use a HK VP-70... not just the typical HK 9mm variants. Also, if I can get a MP5, why not a MP5K? 4. Destructible environments - Matches are already short to begin with, so what is the problem with chopping up the environment? Let us blow holes in walls to get around choke points if we brought the right explosives (make it take a weapon slot if necessary). 5. Encourage teamwork - As fun as the Timesplitters-esque chaos is, some advantage for working together tactically would be fantastic. This comes back to maps... as more linear, choked-up maps would lend themselves to working together (Day of Defeat was brilliant for this), they could save the more open maps for kill-oriented gametypes. -- Sure, this is mostly a pipedream, but I don't doubt we'll see something new for the ninth and tenth iterations that possibly could be along these lines.

cod's MP isn't all that good with big maps...World at War proved that the most.

... Hell no.. Unlocks not only forced me to use guns until I unlocked mroe making me try out far more different combinations then any other fps.. But it actually gave enjoyment and excitment through advancement and not just the gam as well.. No perks? Why? Perks if done right are amazing and add a whole different system that can enhance your playstyle.. How bout this you go play Counter Strike..

Get rid of the type of killstreak used in the game. Have xp killstreaks, or maybe supply drops only. Today in CoD you can kill a few people and use that killstreak to kill more people to get more killstreaks to kill more people etc. etc. etc. I hate it in CoD where missiles and helecopters are everywhere.

I agree for the most part. If perks and weapon unlocks are done correctly then it would be great. AND DON'T YOU EVER F****** DISS COUNTER STRIKE EVER! I still play Counter Strike for one reason. It takes actual skill. No weapon unlocks, just you and them. I can't wait for CS:GO

It isn't good with small maps either.

medium sized ones like crash and district are what i meant. Nobody had a problem with quickscoping until FaZe ruined it in MW2.

I am sorry but so does other games out there like CoD.. CoD is played on the competitive level in tournaments.. How much skill they take is arguable for both games.. I honestly couldn't care less or consider a "bragging" right of being good at a fps at the end of the day.. I do it for enjoyment..

LOL what? So you want more unlockables after you have unlocked everything?

That makes no sense. You might as well prolongue the ranking up & unlocking process instead. If you added unlockables after prestige it would defeat the whole purpose of ranking up to the top ( cuz you havent technically reached the top, or unlock everything that needed unlocking), which would also defeat the whole purpose of prestiging.

No one should be forced to restart ranking up, unlock everything all over again, in order to unlock more. That's plain dumb. Once i get to the top, & unlocked everything, i want to be able to use my equipment as i please. Im not restarting ( prestiging )

Prestige is for people who want to do this ranking/unlocking process again. (Which btw i think is the dumbest thing i've ever heard. Why spend all that time unlocking guns, attachments, that i want to use only to have the game take it away from me. It would be like spending your whole life building a company, trying to make millions of dollars in order to retire & live with luxuries you have achieved, to then giving it all away & saying . . . . i want to restart this process all over again. )

There shouldnt be any more incentive to prestige than a measley little badge that says . . . . . . i have ADHD. It would be unfair to give prestiging anything more than the people who chose not to prestige.

1. Engine change. I think the game is fine, but it could be SO much better, so much prettier. A new engine (or at least highly updating the current one) would be nice. Offer improved graphics and effects and all that, and take down one major complaint people tend to have for the series.

2. Improved AI, taken from RAGE mostly. In other words, AI would be MUCH smarter and more aggressive and harder to take down, also maybe have fewer AI enemies so I don't feel TOO much like a one man army in a game about being one part of a larger cog.

3. Higher skill ceiling. Its an easy game to get into, but also too easy for anyone to master. Add recoil to the guns, change up the gear, etc. Counter Strike is easy to get into but hard to master, and that's the sweet spot I'd like CoD to be in for the multiplayer.

4. Bigger campaign/co-op focus. A LOT of the focus is on multiplayer, so I'd like them to shift to campaign and co-op more. Make campaign a few hours longer, it doesn't have to feel stretched out, but I feel like a game shouldn't be 5 hours long, and games like Half-Life and Crysis are able to give these giant sweeping epic campaigns with great pacing, I don't even ask for that much. Just a little closer to that and feeling tacked on, more open (like CoD4 was at the VERY least), and more taking point then following my leader (also, something CoD4 did a lot more of then the newer games).

5. Wildly change perks and killstreaks in multiplayer. Instead of perks that weirdly give you magical boosts, I'll keep the perks strictly to gear related things like the extra ammo, RPG's, etc. Killstreaks will also be changed up, work a LOT more like Medal of Honor's system in points over kills, and also remove that MW3 package that doesn't reset since, seriously, that's n00b as f*ck and not at all rewarding.

Since 5 isn't enough, I'll toss a single bonus one that could easily be interchanged with any of these:

- New mechanics and gameplay additions. Black Ops did some of this by adding a chopper flying mechanic and a diving mechanic, these are small things but they can add up. MW's movement feels dated and static, they need to add more options. Let me slide to cover, let me dive, let me open a f*cking door and see my guy open a door instead of it having to already be open or opened by someone else. These are small things, but they could radically change the gameplay. Imagine if you survived getting shot at just barely by sliding to nearby cover, or setting up defense by closing some doors (something Rainbow Six Vegas allowed online and offline)? It would all add up, these little things, to make a more drastically changed experience without changing the core of the gameplay and series for anyone who is afraid of change.

COD needs to be COD3. The COD4 MP design is terrible

The game needs more players in a match, larger maps, role based classes ( medic, ammo guy, etc ), variety of vehicles, teamwork, skill, no killstreaks, no nooby perks. In other words . . . . . COD3

COD3 had it right, COD4 was a disastrous step back & at the same time made the most broken MP design of any MP game in the history of gaming.

It boggles my mind why COD4 would take out everything COD3 did. Why take out the amount of players in a match, why take out larger maps, why take out role based classes, why take out vehicles, why take out teamwork & skill? Also why add in killstreaks ( the biggest game breaking mechanic a MP game could possibly have ).

-As what everybody already said, no kill streaks or being juiced. -I think being a futuristic shooter might be interesting. I want to able to be shoot people with no gravity on at least one level. -keep the perks system but expand and balance it. -destructible environments might be cool.

1. NEW ENGINE!! Stop using the old Unreal 3 engine and get something more up to date.

2. Better Physics. COD has no gun physics at all. Every gun feels like it's strapped to a 2 inch thick iron bar with almost no recoil. No bullet drop either.

3. RE-designed multiplayer. It's getting old. It works however, we need much better team based modes.

4. Better Sound. Battlefield 3's sound design destroys CODs 10x over. It's embarrassing how a small studio like DICE can out perform these big studios making the COD games in every single way, except single player

5. End the series. Call of Duty has run it's mark and it's time for a new IP. The IP can be similar, but make it a much more improved "COD".

Have people here not played BC2? Because it seems like most of what you guys want is already in that game. No kill streaks Guns have recoil and you actually have to burst fire if you want to hit anything more than 5 feet away from you. Sniper rifles only 1HK with a headshot or at less than 20 feet range, so you have to have a pretty damn good aim if you want to quickscope. Maps are bigger, but not so enormous that you have to spend 5 minutes just looking for someone to kill. Destructible environment changes the map as the match goes on. More objective/team oriented. But like with any team oriented games, it mostly depends on what kind of people you're playing with/against, as there nothing stopping them from playing a lone wolf Vehicles, but outside of few maps it's mostly infantry combat. Four classes and somewhat bigger variety of weapons allows for more different playstyles. Bullet drop and travel time make sniping actually difficult. Though that doesn't stop people from sitting at the edge of the map and being useless unfortunately =/

Instant knife, just take out the knife or make it a little slower.

Make everyone have a little more life, it's too cheap to die in about 2-3 bullets....

In Mw3, take out the stupid when one of your teammates gets disconnected, the whole team gets taken out of the game....

Take out Akimbo for everything except handguns, so they can actually be useful.

Fix stupid spawn and lag issues....

1.Bring back the features dropped in MW2, mods and 64-player, dedicated servers.

2.Require more shots per kill to get rid of cheap, two shots to the foot kills.

3. New engine

4. Adopt Battlefield's environment destruction to prevent camping.

5. Remove Killstreaks.

1. Longer campaign 2. Instead of annual releases, release a main game every two years with an expansion pack inbetween. 3. Longer sightlines on maps with various alternative routes. 4. No deathstreaks 5. Bring back wager mode
