This was a very bad year for me, and it definitely reflected on my gaming because i didn't feel like playing that much and when i did, i didn't have the money to buy most of the games i wanted...however i was able to play some really interesting games.

First of all, and my personal GOTY, it has to be Super Mario Maker, the game is so, so fun and it gives you so many options, once you get the hang of it, you can't stop, is really and endless game, there is nothing like the feeling to beat a level were less than 1% have been able to beat (like some of the Giantbomb levels or that Bowser puzzle level).

Second place, it has to be Undertale, there is been a while since a played such a charming game with so many great characters, every time you got to met a new character you were like...uh? and then you really got to know them and like them, not to mention the plot, the music, the clever gameplay and those final bosses which are a completely mind **** in the best possible way. Also the battle against Asgore is one of the most emotional battles i've had in a while, overall excellent game.

Third will go to Hearhtstone, i know is an "old" game, but i just recently star playing it last december, around the 28 or something, and i was inmediately hooked with it, from the strategy, to the mechanics, and yes even to the RNG, the game is fun and very addictive, one you start to get great cards is only a matter of time before you get really, really hooked, is without a doubt the game i've played the most this year.

Fire Emblem: the Sacred Stones (I enjoyed more then FE7)

Fatal Frame II (didn't finish due to school but I enjoyed it)

Bayonetta 2 (my GOTY of 2014)

Tomb Raider 2013 (better then I expected)

Daytona USA

NiGHTs Into Dreams

Virtua Fighter 2 and 5

That's about it for old games other then the Mario Kart/Smash DLC.

New games:

Splatoon (awesome)

Rocket League (awesome)

Monster Hunter 4 (decent)

Batman Arkham Knight (mediocre at best)

And I just started Xenoblade Chronicles X and MGSV.

Sir, You Are Being Hunted

SHOGUN 2

Civ V

Far cry 4

I don't get a lot of time to play so I usually spend my time with games that don't require a lot of time to do little.

But man...those games are great.

Undertale. Now wen this game came out i was uninterested due to its shitty presentation, so i kept my distance for a wile. But i'm glad that i eventually gave it a try.

Undertale has a multilayered narrative that requires multiple replays to finish the main portion of the key content. .. A good comparison with another game that shares a similar plot design is 999. Unless you get all the routes down, you won't get why its hyped.

Each specific route in Undertale (aptly named 'Neutral', 'Pacifist' and 'Genocide') features wildly different plot elements that fit each other like pieces of a puzzle forming a memorable piece of software with fantastic characters and a truly unique story.

The only game in recent memory worth a flying **** to actually finish.

Did you do a genocide run yet? If not, DO IT NOW. You will love the characters so much more once you do.

Hell, the charm part didn't even rub on me, i just loved how damn dark the game can possibly get.

1. The Witcher 3 (PC) was the best

2. Dragon Quest Heroes on the PS4 was pretty great

3. Pillars of Eternity (PC) scratched an itch I didn't realize I had. Great RPG

I suppose those would be my top three. Depending on the day and how I feel, Metal Gear Solid 5 could replace PoE in that list.

@charizard1605: ah, you got around to playing TLoU, I remember a time when you said it was on your list. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

I actually remember making a post about it that I tagged you in once I got done with it! It was post #100 in this thread. I imagine the site's notifier broke or something, lol

Anyway, a lot of my impressions then were from me having immediately finished the game, and as I've put more and more distance between myself and the game (and inevitably, the hype that surrounded it), I've come to like the game even more now than I did back then- all my points and issues that I raised back then still stand, but for instance, I don't think I gave the ending enough credit back then. Now I think it is absolutely marvelous. I give a lot of credit to Ellie's characterization, and I stand by thinking she's the best character in the game, but I don't think I have ever liked a character as outright negative as Joel as much before as I did in The Last of Us. I remember saying that the level design negatively affects encounter design, and hey, maybe it does, but after all these months, what stands out the most for me is just how varied and tense the encounters were- everything in the university, during Winter, and the first Bloater encounter being a highlight.

On the whole? Hell of a game. Marvelous title, and a true example of what Naughty Dog can achieve. One of the reasons my hype for Uncharted 4 died as completely as it did is because after The Last of Us, Uncharted feels banal and pedestrian by comparison.

Wow. Not on the same page here. Uncharted 2 is still NDs best game imo. TLOU is a great game. But for me, its the writing and voice acting that make it memorable for the most part. That's not saying gameplay is forgettable. As you said, the first bloater is amazing and some other encounters as well. But there are better 3rd person shooters, better horror, better stealth games. TLOU does all it does great, but it wasn't this gift from heaven others thought it was imo. The DLC was really great as well.

I just couldn't do it...i saw some gameplays, i know is not the same, but like i said i really love those characters and i cannot force myself to do a genocide run...also i kind of hate the grinding aspect of that mode.

But yeah, i totally see your point, you get to see a new side from Undyne totally badass and i got really hooked on San's theme, but i haven't watched all.
