Poll What are the chances of Detroit ending the run if terrible QD games (35 votes)

High 17%
Medium 9%
Low 46%
Emotions 29%

Most of us have played Heavy Rain and that other one so we all know how bad these games are.

Sure they are emotional but they are not fun to play.

Can Detroit end this Quantic Trend?

As a sci-fi fanatic, Detroit: Become Human is one of those sci-fi Humans vs Androids situation against rebellion and such, this game can go either way and most of the times doesn't end well. That said, I'm totally looking forward playing Detroit: Become Human since I do like David Cage's games anyway.

If you watch any sci-fi movies involving Man against Machines/Robots/Androids, then don't expect Detroit to be any different nor it could be a hit or miss.

Beyond Two Souls was pretty good, the story alone carried it. Sure, a letdown in terms of branching story design but beyond that I had good fun.

Heavy Rain was better with branching story paths, but given the mystery at the story's center, it loses any replay value once the big secret is revealed.

I am sure Detroit will be shit on though since the gaming automatons have been conditioned for years to froth at the mouths at any existence QTEs.

Haha. I wouldn't say they were emotional, more frustratingly unbelievable. It's hard to actually feel sorry for the characters when they defy space, time, and death on repeated occasions throughout the story.

At least with Heavy Rain; the plot was a nonsensical mess once you got far enough.

@SecretPolice: You and the rest of the Lems must really like these games if you're taking the time to watch someone else play them. That's at least 8 hours of story, probably much longer.

If you like these types of games im sure it will be great. Personally they are not my type of games and I doubt this will do anything to change my mind.

Not enough explosions, bullets, burnouts, and vroom-vrooms in this game. Oh and MP... It's not a good game without MP.

So you played the other one after Heavy Rain , or the other way around? Seems like you enjoyed at least one of them , correct? But at the same time , you don't even seem to know the name of the other one. You sure you played it? My bullshit detector is going off in multiple ways.

I honestly don't think they're terrible games to people that understand the genre. I personally haven't played the games you mentioned, but I suspect the problem is that people expect action sequences in these games and are disappointed by not getting them.

Highly doubt it. David Cage will continue to prove he's a frustrated movie director that couldn't make it. Alas gamers fell for the trap 'unique emotional experiences'. I heard he acknowledged in french interview way back that he came to the gaming industry because he was frustrated with the movie industry and we can all conclude why. His shit wouldn't fly with any moviegoer.

Not my cup of tea. Heavy Rain was a snooze fest with awful controls, so I didn't try Beyond and I won't try Detroit, unless by some miracle there is some interesting gameplay in Detroit.

I am yet to play a terrible QD game. Everything since Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy has been good. I never played the Omikron/Nomad games, but they look bad.

I don't hate him, but he makes it very easy for people to make fun of certain aspects of his games. (the story lines, which is entirely his writing) To me, David Cage talks to much, he talks about what he hates in current game industry then does exact same thing. Half the time, I think he's a secret apprentice to Peter Molyneux.

I remember his interview, back in 2012 when Beyond: Two Souls was in development, where he spoke about how game developers do the same games again and again and how he dislike that modern industry lacks of real innovations, while he himself created QTE drama then QTE drama then QTE drama. Even Omikron was more of a story-driven drama with horrible gameplay.

I don't hate him in general, but sometimes I simply don't understand his intentions and visions. Detroit on the other hand has that sci-fi of Humans vs Androids coexisting I always find interesting which I'm looking at from an actual sci-fi game then an actual David Cage game. I did enjoy Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain but didn't like Beyond: Two Souls. In other words, David Cage is a hit or a miss.

@davillain-:

Yeah, that's exactly my problem with him. He consider himself as some revolutionary story teller and game designer and pretends that he loves the game industry while his "games" doesn't even have any gameplay or to say any stakes involved. Hell I think Heavy Rain was even marketed as an interactive movie, so I really can't stand when he criticizes games with actual gameplay. It would have been somewhat tolerable if his stories are any good but they also suck and contains all kinds of plot holes. What makes him even more hypocrite that he's not trying to turn games into movies or his "games" are full of player control while in reality in late 90's he admitted that he came to the games industry because he was frustrated with the movies.I just wish gamers stop throwing money at his nonsense.

Beyond 2 Souls was a 9/10 at Gamespot and sits in the YELLOW, a 72/100 at Metacritic. I found it to be unfinishable. I can't stand the mechanics in these Cage games. So I'm betting Detroit gets the mangina's of the reviewers here wet and emotions flowing. 9/10 here and mid 70s on meta.
