What Are This Gen's Missing Game Genres? [56k]

This thread goes out to all those genres that kind of died offover the past years.

I'll start us off with one:

Flight Action games, like Ace Combat

This gen there hasonlybeen acouple of them such asAce Comabt 6, and Hawks.

Last gen you had a Ace Combat4, 5 and 0, not to mention other sick flight action games like Airforce delta storm.

So what other genres do you think are missing from this gen?

IL-2 Sturmovik Birds of Prey happened recently and needs to do something about its stupid name. InsaneBasura

Space combat games like Freespace,Tie Fighter and Wing Commander.

Yes there is the X series but thats more like Elite, similar but not the same.

Edit: We need more adventure games. Darksiders makes me want way more zelda-esque dungeon crawly adventure games, though maybe they don't have to rip off the game completely like darksiders did :P.

though i did really like Ace Combat Zero.

Ace Combat 5 : Unsung War (one of my absolute favorite games ever).

This. There have been some awesome jRPGs but only a few. Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata & Tales of Vesperia are a few I own. I've heard great things about Valkyrie Chronicles also.

Beat em ups, hack n slash games, we got Bayonetta, 2 Ninja Gaiden 2 games, Devil May Cry 4, does Darksiders count, and the upcoming Dante's Inferno and God of War 3, that list is tiny even compared to shooters, racers, etc. this gen.

Platformers - Conker, Banjo, Crash, Good Sonic, etc

Unique Games - Oddworld, Legacy of Kain, Earthworm Jim, Space Channel 5, Jet Grind Radio

Co-op Beat 'em Ups - Streets of Rage, Bad Dudes, The Warriors,

3rd PersonWRPGs (my favorite) - Kotor, Baldurs Gate, etc (we have a couple, but they are lame, like Two Worlds)

JRPGs.

Also, this isn't a genre, but we need more games with offline multiplayer. I'm staring at you, Uncharted 2.

You forgot a lot of games in that genre:

Ninja Blade, Batman: AA, Dynasty Warriors (x2), Dynasty Warriors: Gundam (x2), GOW Collection, Yazuka 3, Afro Samurai, Way of the Samurai 3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance (x2)...and the list goes on.

I agree with the rest of the people about flight combat titles though, there's really only a couple and the only good one is Ace Combat 6.

Does anyone remember the PS2 game Skygunner? I want something like that!

My favorite genre and there has been like, 2 litterally this entire gen.

Lack of mascots- Oh my god. Why do people have obsession with realistic people. Make mascots that aren't rambo humans or in giant armor. The only mascot that wasn't a super-human was sackboy.

Lack of arcade sports titles- There were 3 nba street games, 3 ssx games, great tony hawk games, 1 nfl street game, sega soccer slam, etc. What do we have this generation, subpar tony hawk games, 1 subpar ssx game, 1 subpar nfl street and nba street game. Horrible.

I miss the real survival horror games. Resident Evil 4/5 don't count for much in that genre; they're more shooters. The only good one I can think of from this generation is Dead Space.jalexbrown

Yeah pretty much, I mostly don't play Ikaruga clones though, I play a few though like the earlier games by Flatstaff.
