The once prominent Platformer genre is all but dead.
All that is left is R&C and an occasional Mario bone tossed at fans from Nintendo.

Definitely some 3D platformers. Super Mario Galaxy is the only one worth playing this gen.
A couple of gens ago we had Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie, DK64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Spyro 1,2,3, Kirby 64, Crash Bandicoot, OF COURSE Mario 64, Rayman 2, Sonic Adventure, 40 winks...
At the moment it seems like we're getting more 2D platformers than 3D. I love 2D platformers, but I'd love to see more 3D ones.
R&C is less of a platformer than infamous. Far from dead imo. Just look at different titles. Assassin Creed 2 had tons of platforming as did infamous. The once prominent Platformer genre is all but dead.

SHMUPS. Whatever happened to Raiden, Gradius, and Ikaruga?enterawesome
There are a lot of SHMUPs still coming out, you just have to look into freeware, doujin, and Japanese only releases.
More classic WRPG games like Dragon Age.
EVOLV3
I'm sorry, but why do a lot of people in System Wars seem to think that Dragon Age resembles classic WRPGs?
Exactly. Also we need a few good jrpg's but they have to be innovative like Persona 4, Valkyria Chronicles, and others. I think more jrpg's should be be somewhat open world like bioware games which have the perfect balance.More classic WRPG games like Dragon Age.
EVOLV3
because you dont like it nobody should be able to  you shouldnt be glad that a genre is dyingI hate flight games, I'm glad that genre has been dieing. We need more JRPGs like Tales of Vesperia.

I want to see a new Ace Combat game for the Playstation.
Ace Combat 6 was .... not good....
though i did really like Ace Combat Zero.
Ace Combat 5 : Unsung War (one of my absolute favorite games ever).

Let me guess. Ace Combat 6 was not good because.... it was on Xbox 360?
i'll throw my hat in as a fan of the series since 2.Let me say why 6 isnt as good.It may look much better but imo the superweapons didnt create as big an impact for me compared to the Arkbird,Solg,Hrimfaxi,Scinfaxi it wasnt as captivating also i didnt feel attatched to the characters i mean everyone that i know loved chopper in Aces 5 and were sad when he dies in the mission where you dogfight over the rally in the stadium and Wardog gets sent to protect. It just didnt captivate me as much cause the characters had a massive impact on the game and feel and everything.
Aces 5 also has a story that you keep going back to mainly because you can unlock lots of variants, paint schemes, new secondary weapons and the addictive operation katina side game which is a follow up to Aces 4.
Its not that aces 6 is bad in anyway it just didnt have the same draw for me as Squadron Leader and 0 was a good prologue to 5 in essence its a 2 parter and the Belkan war literally **** all over all the other parts of AC lore even the 2030's corporations (Aces3).
It just wasnt the leap i really expected the story didnt give me the same feeling and i have beat it 5 times btw.

I justfeel bad for people who got this:I mean aside from AC6 there are basicallyno other games they can use that for.
Point and click adventure games. These should be all over the Wii like a rash, credit to Z & W for a decent effort.Kan0nF0ddergood news. lucasarts have said that they are going back to making adventure games. bad news is that we have to wait untill 2012

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]RIP survival horror.finalfantasy94
Pretty much. Noone likes to go near this genre.
Siren blood curse is prolly the last true survival horror i played.Wish ssony makes a follow up and puts it out as retail cause i cant find a S:BC retail copy round here :'(
Could always sue moar JRPG's, Action games, and Fighters.killab2oo5
With Street Fighter 4, SoulCalibur 4, Tekken 6, DOA 4, MK vs DCU, and Virtua Fighter 5, not to mention the consoles platform for reviving cIassic games (original SF and MK, SF HD Remix, Marvel vs Capcom 2) via download, I would say this generation has seen a strong ressurgence of the Fighter Genre.
And in 2010 alone, we got games like Beyonetta, Dante's Inferno, GoW 3, Darksiders, NMH2, and Castlevania LoS, showing a really healthy supply of action games.
Need moar couch co-op! I don't want to play with my buddies online, I want them on the couch with me!
Oh there have been plenty of JRPG's this gen, it's just that 90% of them kinda suck. I think Lost Odyssey was the only one I could actually get into, story-wise and gameplay-wise.[QUOTE="siLVURcross"]Shall I be the first to say it? JRPGs. Needs MOAR.Vaasman
Edit: We need more adventure games. Darksiders makes me want way more zelda-esque dungeon crawly adventure games, though maybe they don't have to rip off the game completely like darksiders did :P.
yes! definitly more zelda like games.
also, instead of jrpgs, japanese role playing game developers should take note of demon's souls and make more western style rpgs. or just be much more innovative.
also! there needs to be moar car combat games!
wheres my twisted metal ps3?
