Poll What are you looking forward to more: FFXV or Persona 5? (86 votes)

Final Fantasy XV 42%
Persona 5 58%

I did ask a question regarding all upcoming JRPGs in general a while back, but that was before we got the new trailer for Final Fantasy XV, which seems to have hyped up quite a few people.

So, I guess, it's time to ask you all again- what are you looking forward to more? Final Fantasy XV or Persona 5? And why?

So, which one of these two upcoming flagship entries in the premier JRPG franchises are you looking forward to more, and why?

The one that doesnt have a sophomoric high school level story or epic amounts of grinding. So neither.

gotta go with ffxv here char , it is my favorite series after suikoden but it turned bad, i want to see a bid return and the trailer looked amazing,on the other side it is 60% ready, and we have persona 5 which we have 0 info.. not a single gameplay trailer even in the tokyo game show for a game that has a 2015 release date... while i know what to expect from a persona game and i dont care about the visuals(its alla about the waifu's u know :P ) i think that ffxv will make me more happy if it was ready atm than persona 5.then again playing the games maybe i would enjoy persona 5 more but dunnot will have to see, and need more info on persona ....

Persona 5 for sure, I've been looking forward to that since finishing Persona 4 in late 2008.

Though, it seemed lots of people wanted FFXV (back when it was known as FFvsXIII), probably because of Sony exclusivity, cows are prone to having boners for exclusives, at least in paying lip service, they don't always put their money where their mouth is. Maybe the lack of of exclusivity for FFvsXIII/FFXV now and Sony exclusivity of Persona 5 is a reason for skewed polls, though I'm excited because I bought and played the last two Persona games and thoroughly enjoyed them, I'd be surprised if this game sold well at all. It took two port releases of the 3rd and 4th game just for them to break a million of each, and those were awesome games. Despite how much I love them, games in the SMT license aren't exactly big sellers.

Persona 5 by far. My hype for FF Versus 13 died back in 2009. I just want the damn game to release at this point. Not hyped about it anymore though.

FF is shit and has been for a while. I don't expect it to buck this trend, but I do expect it to be better than all the trash released on the PS3.

SMT is a decent time waster, though as with most SMT games the littlest thing can make me throw my controller down in disgust.

Example: In Nocturne I spent many hours beating the optional "Labyrinth" (you meet Dante from DMC) and just stepped a toe into the final level to see what the monsters were like never leaving the first floor. Well, I found out that automatically stops you from getting the "true demon" ending. Controller thrown down in disgust.

In DDS I found out the seemingly pointless decisions you make at certain parts of the game can greatly affect DDS2. Including getting an extra character to join your party. Controller thrown down in disgust.

I never really had a problem with the Devil Summoner games, but my PS2 died while playing it after a several thousand gaming hours and doubling as my DVD player for years. Luckily this was a couple years into the PS3's gen and the slim had just come out for $300. Though idk if I read a walkthrough on GameFAQ if there would be anything to make me throw down my controller in disgust.

I have never played a Persona game. I can see it's the old JRPG "high school students save the world" cliche. What's the combat like?

I am not stupid to blindly hope that a game with such a pathetically bumpy dev cycle of 8+ years to somehow come out to be great. Sure, it may be great, but given the recent track record of games with miserable dev cycle AND Square Enix Japan's effort on home consoles, it seems to me just blind fanboyism not to be skeptical at this.

Not to mention the character design in FFXV is absolutely disgusting. Why would anyone other than Japanese female otakus want to play a game filled with characters that look like they work at a bloody host club?

both games have pretty much been in the same situation though. The Persona team started development of P5 since like 2005, is just that contrary to Square Enix, they did announce it at one point but then didn't talk about it again til recently.

Persona 5 did not start development until mid 2010, after Catherine's release. Don't make facts up.

This. FFXV is a game that is having a hellish development, and P5 was just recently announced. That is a fact. You can't deny it.
At least Atlus wasn't irresponsible like SE to announce a game that was barely going anywhere 8 years ago.

I think the biggest difference between Persona 5 and FFXV is that Persona 5 has vision (and it follows it well), whereas Final Fantasy XV has no vision, and thus has for a big portion of its development cycle gone nowhere (figuratively speaking). From what I have seen of Persona 5 thus far, everything seems to be really well directed and planned. On the other hand FFXV seems to be all over the place, I don't think I am the only one who feels to have a better grasp of what Persona 5 is about than FFXV despite a lot less having been revealed.

And just in case someone suspects my account of being hacked because I say good things about modern Persona: "Rawr, Persona sucks, Persona 4 is Scooby Doo, Persona 1 and 2 were better, Rawr!!!" :P

I agree. Has FinalFantasy been good the last few games?

depends who you ask. I dont know about the mmo but the 13 series had some flaws but still were good games. Espcially the battle system.
