Remnant: From the Ashes.
I've been trying to get into Souls-likes for years. In theory, it's a genre I should like; I like dungeon crawling, I like action RPGs, and I like getting smashed in the face by a flying brick wall, just for the high of when I eventually smash it back and actually break it. I tried Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, but my eyes glazed over the moment I saw the character and inventory screens, and I kept feeling like I had to wrestle with the controls to get anywhere. So I gave up.
So I looked for another game. Souls-like is a very popular genre, which proved a double-edged sword; there are a lot of options, but it took a long time to go through. In the end, I narrowed dozens of candidates down to just two: Remnant: From the Ashes and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. Remnant clinched it by being cheaper and not needing Origin.
So far, pretty fun. Had to get used to the "aim to shoot" controls, which wasn't too hard because I've played Resident Evil 5. Yeah, the boss fight adds are a bit annoying, but I personally didn't have too much problem with them so far, and every time I died I still felt like it was my fault. Now, to see if I can solve a problem I hear is common in Souls-likes; I can't find any weapon that's better than my starting rifle...
