PS4 based on:

Specs

Size

Pricepoint

Games shown.

No game was a true system seller for me, on any console. So judging by the specs and pricepoint, I saw little reason to go for an X1 (not to mention MS very skizofrenic PR campaign).

I am uncertain if any of them are must have consoles, and if they are, we have not seen "why" as of yet. But I needed a new blu'ray player, and figured I might aswell hold out ang buy another console (I tend to buy atleast one every gen anyways) and from the initial impression the PS4 seems the most appealing to me.

1. Price 2. Best Multiplat versions 3. Exclusives I'm interested in So, it's PS4 for me. Plus, I don't care about the Kinect. I don't like motion capture games or waving my hands around to change channels. Plus, the fact that I'm forced to pay $100 extra for a Kinect device that ill never use or need makes the PS4 a no-brainer.

I seem to be the only person who actually expected full HD resolution and 60 FPS minimum for all games from the next gen, and who consider this the most important factor of all. Not necessarily because of better looking games, but because of the principal of A) more powerful machines should result in more powerful games, and B) staying up-to-date with the resolution standard for TVs. Almost every gamer i know have 120-240 hz TVs and PC monitors for a reason.

I just read an article that states how GTA 5 will run in 720p. I mean seriously, 1280x720 is an ancient resolution that i was sorely hoping we'd seen the very last of with the current gen consoles. 1080p has been standard since five years back, if not longer, and i find it really discerning if the next gen isn't even going to be able to give us higher resolutions or at least higher frame-rates. I don't see how sacrificing everything for higher res textures and more stuff going on in the games if they're only gonna be 30 FPS and 720p yet again. I expected far more from machines many times more powerful than the current gen consoles.

What's even the point of making the next gen consoles more powerful if they can't deliver on that? Resolution and FPS is by far the most important aspects of power in a gaming machine. Why should we spend money on new consoles just to get the new games when they could as well have released them on the current gen consoles? I feel like we're being cheated and like consoles' catch-up with PCs will stall with the next gen, making it even more difficult for a PC gamer to consider a console. They haven't aimed high enough if they settle at 720p.

2K res is slowly becoming the standard for PC games, and the next-gen consoles won't even do full HD yet? Seriously, back to the drawing board and wait a few more years until they can cram out consoles for 400 bucks that can live up to a five year old standard. After reading that news, reading more news about how other games definitely will run in 1080p is the only thing that would make me consider getting a new console. Resolution has an enormous impact on graphics quality. The Nintendo Wii taught me that hard lesson.

To sit there yet again with a consoles that only does 1280x720 is flat-out embarassing. Friends coming over would wonder how the heck i managed to get GTA 5 on my PS3 when they see that low a resolution. It's like buying a 600 bucks phone and still only get a 2005's standard 2MP camera in it.

I understand your frustration, however GTA 5 isn't even on or has been announced for next gen consoles yet, plus all we've seeing so far are the first games developed for new gen consoles, if history is any indication then we will be seeing a vast difference in games produced a year or two from now.

I think for the first year or so developers will focus more on bigger environments, improved AI, and better effects, once they get accustomed to the new hardware they will start pushing it more with better frame rates and full HD.

I believe we will see most improvements once developers know the PS4 & X1 has a large enough base, then they can put all their resources into making PS4, X1 and PC games only.

Who knows how far they will ultimately be able to push them, but history has consistently shown us that they will get considerably better as the years fly by.

There are many games for next gen consoles that are running at 1080p, and we have some at 60 fps also, this is just the beginning, look at the PS3 & 360, there are some games for them that run at 60 fps and some with 1080p and the PS3 even had a couple that ran at 60 fps and 1080p, so I don't think we'll be stuck with 30 fps-720p games for long with the PS4 & X1.Â
