Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and Gears of War. These two games literally blew me away on the level that Resident Evil 4 did when it was released, and for me Resident Evil 4 was one of the best games ever. Now there's very few games that give me that "wow" factor.

The games listed below, in no particular order, really left an indelible impression on me. In my eyes, they have defined this generation of games for me.
MGS4 is the best for me so far. Others would include GOW3, Demon's Souls, Condemned 2 (underrated as all hell), R:FOM/R2, RDR, and L4D.

These are the games that really stood out and gave me a great experience (and still do).
Batman: Arkham Asylum, God of War III and Gears of War 2 have been the most impressive games I've played so far this generation. Was also surprised with the quality of Assassin's Creed II, LittleBigPlanet and Heavy Rain. I suppose I should also thank System Wars for boosting my interest in the Mass Effect series; was much better than I was expecting.
Even though I didn't score it as high as the other games listed, I thought The Last Remnant on the PC was a great game; my favorite JRPG of the generation.
