what company milks gamers the most?

It depends I think its gotta be PC overall but thats really not one company. In terms of companies, no one milks more in the accessory area than MS, with paying online, wireless adapter, wireless charging kits etc, but then on the game front no one milks titles more than Nintendo. Pretty same set of characters for 30 years. Even if the games still sell and are enjoyable you cannot argue that that isn't milking an IP. Then theres Sony, they don't really milk much but have been extremely arrogant with their pricing...I'm sure everyone remembers the $600 E3. Anyway the bottomline all the companies are at fault but as far as "milking" goes I think its a toss-up between Nintendo and MS.

dude, believe it or not, i got my 360 december 05 with a 20gig hdd and still have 3.5gig free space. That 360 RRoDd last year so i got an arcade and still use the same hard drive.

my point is that you dont need a huge hdd to play 360´s games since there are no mandatory instals. I have like 10 arcade games and usually unistall the demos after play them.

Microsoft. It's unforgiveable to charge £60.00 just for a wifi adapter when Sony built one into their console. And the HD add on when Sony had blu ray. And a HDD if you bought the basic model even though most games need one. And a charger for your wireless pad.

No other company comes close. I like my Xbox, but its a good job because I've paid through the nose for a console somehow inferior to the PS3.

Definitely Microsoft, which makes me wonder why PS3 fanboys are called 'cows', its more fitting to Xbox fanboys if anything.

Even though that was last gen,its a good point.

Sony did milk its customers pretty badly,probably because they were so confident of the PS2's domination.

Those memory cards were pricey back in the day,and they filled up fast.

My vote would have to go to M$. As much as I enjoy the 360, M$ has seriously insulted gamers this gen by charging ridiculous prices for their add-ons. But ALL three companies to their fair share of "milking" IMHO. For example, why can't I play PS2 games on the PS3 when I can play XB games on the 360 and GC games on the Wii? So for me to enjoy the back catalog of great PS2 software I have to purchase a PS2. :| And with Nintendo I have to purchase two wii-motes and nunchucks just to play two player games and don't get me started on the wii-motion plus. And then you have to purchase acharge kitsince, like 360 controllers,they don't come with internal batteries. Funny how fanboysalways seem to leave those details out when talking about the wii and bashing the 360.

And to the PC argument, yes I do believe the PC is the most expensive venture ingaming.While you can build a PC for$500-600 thatcan run a game like crysis on max (w/40 fps) or so I've been told, I highly doubt a rig built with a budget in mind in 2005 will run crysis with those settings. Butbecause you can do a lot more with PC's I believe the price is warrented.

Accessories, on the other hand, are a different story altogether. My heart breaks when I hear people have shelled out €80 for a Wi-Fi adapter that should have been bog-standard from the beginning. As for who has the better quality hardware/software, I've always thought of Microsoft having the better GUI and Netcode for XBL (them being a software company might help) and Sony having the better hardware in the PS3 i.e. far superior capabilities to the Xbox 360 (Sony being a hardware company). I really think anyone who believes the two consoles are equal in graphical power need a reality check.

One cannot be milked if they do not allow themselves to be milked. A company can offer all of the overpriced accesories, membership fees, and DLC as they want to, and all the consumer has to say is "no thanks."

No, it was bad and ridiculed big time last generation. It's not like it's somehow bad now, it's been bad for PS2 last generation as well, the threads were littered with stuff about Multitaps, having to buy memory cards, etc. As the name Cow suggested Milking right from the get go. It's the easiest name to make fun of as far as animal names, and it was branded to PS2 fans deliberately because they got milked in accessories hardcore last generation. That certainly didn't go unnoticed, by me, or SW of that era. I actually miss the days of arging about the Gamecube, Xbox, and Playstation 2.

To answer, the milking was bad both times...but the names are completely outdated for this generation.

I made a few threads where all of SW could decide on new names over the years in SW, but the powers that Be and a very vocal minor group wouldn't allow it. It's a shame, but yes, the names are completely outdated.

For me, it's Nintendo. Having to pay $200+ for a console that's a slightly better Gamecube with motion controls was dirty. Nintendo could have at least upgraded the hardware to make the games accessable for HD ownere, without blurring the images as much as it does. :evil:

Top it off, the Wii didn't get many good games until recently, and even then, I'm not a huge fan of Mario.

consoles have no future, or rather, they do for casualites, but true gamers won't get sucked into this casualization, motion controls and no controller at all crap.

it all depends on WHEN you choose to build your pc. With developers building games having in mind the smallest denominator - consoles - , Pc gamers know that they'll build their rig after the consoles are released and NOT before. I built my rig in 2007, I know that it will last until the end of this gen, which is probablygonna be another 5 years of no additional costs and upgrades for me ;)

I paid around 800$ almost 3 years ago. for what pc offers, with Steam and freedom of choosing the right accessories for you, I can safely say that Pc gaming is cheaper than console's.
