Seeing as how the PS3 is getting better and better every year (price cuts, AAAE titles, psn improvements, etc.), it seems however that M$ and Nintendo have taken the year off so to speak. M$ this year have been living off of multiplats and the new Halo expansion, while Nintendo on the other hand, have been sitting back in the recliner drinking fine wine and counting $ they got from 'Wii Fit plus version 8' and 'guitar Hero 14'.

Since the PS3 is dominating so far, which of the two is the most lacking in the games department?

None if we are including multiplatforms, xbox 360 if we are only talking about exclusives.

The Apple Pippin.

Basically there were no games this year, the hardware stinks and retailers are complaining stock is limited to Ebay.

The 360. Not enough for it to compete this year, even less in System Wars.

I think the easy way out of this is to say NONE!

That way I don't have to answer the question and admit to myself anything, I can just not answer.:)

-----------

If I was to answer this and be honest with myself and come to terms with reality, I might answer....

The Xbox. I haven't touched that clas.sic games console in forever, even my GC and PS2 got turned on this year!

Whats the point of excluding mutiplats? In real life you can play them.

Then don't exclude Multiplats, and see if you can find it within yourself to answer the TC.

Define what you think a separates the CONSOLES, and then try to answer the question.

Don't worry, I don't expect you to post in this thread again.

There is a point but that point can only go so far. It's exclusive that makes one library better than another. When you own a PS3 you don't look at the 360 and say man SF4 looks so good I wish it was on my system. It's in my opinion the reason why we have not seen many exclusives this year from MS is because they have everyone working on Natel. Then you have the Wii which past the PC has the most exclusives making it a must own second system for many gamers.

Nintendo's gameplan has not changed since launch. Their focus is on very broad pick up and play games. I don't think they are striving to make critically acclaimed games or even care what the gaming media thinks of them. I think they are just trying to cram the Wii in as many homes as possible with the gimmick of motion. And hey it's working for them. As for the 360, I think a lot of the gaming media preemptively pat the 360 on the back in 07 with it's library. The main reason the 360's library looked so appealing in 07 was MAINLY due to it's head start. By 07 it had accumulated a years worth of games in 05-06 and a lot of the exclusive games it had in 07 was in large part due to the fact it was the only HD console to work with at the time of development for those games. Later as the PS3's fanbase grew those same devs made sure to either port those games or include the PS3 in the sequels release. The 360's short term plan of buying exclusives and exclusive content while closing down 1st party studios looked like a good idea in 07 but 08 and 09 have shown it's problems. Buying 3rd party exclusives is getting more and more expensive and MS can't afford to have a 3rd party exclusive to combat all of Sony's 1st, 2nd and 3rd party exclusive releases.

I thought MS had Rare mainly working on Natal. I think the reason MS is low on exclusives is because they closed some of their 1st party studios last year and focused on DLC and timed exclusives. I am sure Natal is getting plenty of attention but the games that were supposed to release this year are games that should have been worked on two to three years ago, so I doubt Natal is the reason. I am also sure that Sony is working on games for their motion controller and eyepet and they still managed to release a bunch of top notch exclusives. The main reason is the amount of their 1st party devs.

The Wii has had 8AAE and 11AE games this year. Sounds like they are releasing good games to me...

The 360 if you are only counting multiplats it has been awful. But counting multiplats then no console has been mediocre this year.

There were only a handful of games I considered buying on the Wii, and I never bought any of them. As usual, the Wii comes in last again.

We are comparing three console's release schedule and your comment was basically an extended "I plead the 5th". By comparing all the consoles exclusive wise I came to the conclusion that the 360 has had the worst line up and I said why. You basically played mommy and said "I love all my children equally". The TC asked which platform is having a pretty mediocre year. You didn't really answer the question. As for your comment on the Wii, I have a Wii, its a great secondary system for me. I am in no way the kind of gamer who plays games based on score or point reviews and play whatever game I like. I really really enjoyed both Genji's which got horrible scores and have no regrets. However looking at this situation by SW's standards, AA-A games don't impress me or convince me a system has an AMAZING library. AA-A games are very very common and in order for a game to get less then A it pretty much has to be incredibly horrible or broken. AAA games are a rare commodity and I have a lot of SW respect for a system that can accumulate a nice amount of them. I know the typical saying, "would you rather play a AAA game or 5 AA games". Honestly when I look at some of the AA games on my Wii I would very easily choose, Batman AA, Infamous, KZ2, Uncharted 2 or Demon's Soul.

Spot on. The Wii has some OK titles, but really nothing stand out at all this year. It has sold well, but it is in no part due to the quality of its gaming lineup.

One of the main reasons I state that is because MS made some statement awhile back that they were going to have a large number of games coming out with the Natel. I do agree with the statement though that MS has really hurt themselves by closing so many gaming companies.

Funny because when the ps3 was lacking in exclusives a while back, the lems never brought this up. Now that Xbox 360 is in a dryspell they cling to the multiplat(legit) excuse.

Same here, I haven't turned mine on since RE 5. I'm just too busy buying and playing games for Wii, DS, and PS3 this year to care about the 360 right now.

I think nintendos year is going to be 2010. I mean there will be Metroid Other M, Red Steel 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, the ginder, and if we are lucky, a new zelda.
