Funny question indeed. The wii owners will vote for sales. 360 owners will vote for games. PC gamers will vote for both, and PS3 owners will have to vote for both.
As an owner of 360, PS3, and a gaming PC, I would say both games and sales have to play a role.
[QUOTE="DaBrainz"]But when you 8.5million people bought Halo 3 you are claiming sales matter:o
And the praise it received from countless sources I believe are in fact the 100 or so people I mentioned before on GR(unless I'm missing something). Yes Jack Thompson is a lunatic, but IMO so is the guy who gave LostWinds a 5.5, that review was neither profound nor righteous.

No Im saying BOTH matters to some extent..not each on their own.
but:

The best games are always opinion, so it's hard to just go by them.
The best sales are like a popular vote among the masses of which console is preferred.

"Games have more of an impact on the gamer than sales do. People try and argue that more sales = more people scrambling to make games for your favorite platform. Which isn't true looking at the Wii and how its lacking 3rd party support compared to the PS3 yet its spanking PS3 in sales."
I guess I thought you where disagreeing with me and were saying only games matter:?
Anyways, yes I agree with you, it's both, but it's very hard to quantitate the value of games using someone elses opinion.

 Ok the most hardware failures determine t3h winnar, 360 wins!
T3h most kitty determines SW, Wii wins!
T3h most expensisve determines SW, PC WINS WOO this is fun.
Hm, the last one is not really a fact or opinion, its just wrong.

I would quite like system wars to be determined by the amount of kitty.
i would say both as well, but then how can you figure that out?
example:
Wii is winner in sales (so far, but most likely this will not change), but not games
360 is winner in games (so far), but not sales
what then?

PC..

You do know that you have to involve an AAAA section now right to your sig?
sorry no space :(Hold shift when you press enter. ;)
As for what I think should determine the winner of System Wars (Speaking strictly from a non-realist's point of view): games. We can't quite determine PC sales, not that we're able to play the sales game in the first place.
yea no way to pick a winner. ppl say ps2 won last gen but i dont. i thought the game cube was the best with the xbox comming in second. people say the ps3 will win this gen, but i dont. i think the wii will win and the xbox will come in second.
theres no way to pick a winner of opinions...cause they all suck!
but it's very hard to quantitate the value of games using someone elses opinion.

Thats why we have an agreed upon scoring system like gamespot, ign, 1up and all the other publications out there.
Games. So what if a console sells 75 million units it has no effect on you at all. The only thing that matters is games quality. The only thing system sales can be used for is an argument for fanboys of a system that is selling like crazy but only has 1 or 2 games that are worth buying... and we all know whcih console that is.-Sphere-What console is that? Part of that is about the ps3.. the other about the wii... hmmm interesting.....
Well obviously both.
I'd say more towards sales for System wars just because that's the thing everyone uses to back up his or her arguements.
But what good are sales if you have no games to play?
It really depends on what you mean by winner. If you're a stockholder, then you're damn right sales = winner. Then again, none of us are stockholderssales does not = winner imo....
souljia boy has the highest internet downloads but does that make his music good? No. There is no WINNER....its all opinion.

Well, I assume too much I guess. The quality of a game is entirely subjective. Sales is the only reasonable method because they are based in pure fact. There is no universally good or bad game.famicommanderBut sales never measuer quality of a product on a consistant basis.
Its all about the games.Sales dont represent the quality of a item.terdoo
neither do game reviews
game ratings are all opinion. if we do have a "winner" (whatever that means) of any gen, why base it off opinion and not fact?
game quality = subjective
sales = objective
