capcom, infinity ward, rockstar, EA (to a certain extent), Square enix, midway (also, to a certain extent), rare (again, to a certain extent), nintendo, and epic, but as much as i like/love these dev, one of my most favorite (if not favorite) over the previous ones i named have to be INSOMNIAC. The reason why i choose/like them so much is because, unlike most (if not all) of the dev listed above, Insomniac not only make good-great games, but they very rarely DELAY their games

[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"][QUOTE="mo0ksi"]I'd have to say Blizzard. All of their games are loved by everyone.stephant_6

I'd be the exception lol. And any non-hardcore gamer too. Wait, there's that bloody World of Warcraft... Sorry, my bad.

Just curious, which Blizzard games do you not like?

The only game I can personally think of is Justice League Task Force for the Genesis and SNES. That game was so awful. It is the stain on an otherwise spotless track record for Blizzard. I rented the game as a child hoping that it would be and awesome fighting game with DC superheroes, little did I know I just wasted money on the worst game that I have ever played.

all of their games are above average? 11/13 of their games rated here have been AAA.

The two AAs are Diablo 2 and Warcraft 2: Battle.net edition.

Just wanted to add that in.

[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"]I'll address the second part first: Um, that has nothing to do with your first paragraph. And I honestly don't know how it's tying in with your argument. So if we were to apply this "effectively dealing with the reasons most people don't like said genres", are we to say that Mass Effect's watered-down RPG elements, only to appeal to a wide audience, is "effectively dealing with the reasons most people don't like RPGs"? Shall we also apply that to Oblivion? Does it make those games better than the others of their genre? So have they bested Fallout, KotOR, Morrowind etc, because the ignorant casual people didn't understand why, for example, when they attacked they would "miss" at point blank range? I don't mind Blizzard trying to solve the problems that have plagued MMORPGs for quite some time, but pushing it forward rather than remaining stagnant would have been more appreciated, and in the process they have created a few problems. I mean, right, MMO users are stereotyped as 40 year old somethings that take their game too seriously. But WoW now has created this dilemma of teenagers who play from 8 in the morning 'til 5 in the evening, and then there are others who would do anything for gold, and in a certain case I've had the offer of seeing real nude pics in exchange for gold. And dungeon orgies (please don't mod me mods, that was just something factual). While innuendo has been a concern before, it was never like this in the past. So is this teenage hormone-enraged stigma any better than the nerdy stigma? In all honesty, despite my contemporaries playing WoW, I most certainly enjoyed playing with the 'elders' on LOTRO. Look, we'll have to agree to disagree. Every time a WoW argument comes up it goes on forever.

Second paragraph is saying that you hate Blizzard's take on what an MMORPG can be. Basically, anything they did with WoW is automatically wrong in your eyes because you disagree with the entire premise of their gameplay goals. So the RTS example is addressing your point of view from a different direction. WiC is a great, action-packed game, but some RTS snobs that happen to prefer, say, CoH will flat-out say that WiC is suddenly a bad RTS - hell, more than bad - it isn't even an RTS at all, because there's no base-building or resource collection involved in the strategy. From the other point of view, one could say Close Combat, Total War, Myth and Ground Control/World in Conflict all boiled down RTS to just the actual combat and effective use of what you have rather than extraneous things like build orders. There is no single golden standard of what it means to be an RTS, just like there is no single golden standard with MMOs. Just different takes on a vague concept. Blizzard went for accessible + not frustrating foremost and said so, and it looks like they succeeded. As far as the effectively dealing with... yeah, Mass Effect did. Just like KOTOR did, dressing up turn-based combat as real-time, and making every line of dialogue spoken verbally instead of read. Make the RPG elements transparent to lend a more cinematic experience. It was effective. Stuff like the Mako or the lifeless side-quest planets had nothing to do with making it more appealing to newcomers. The Witcher also did a good job at addressing different things in different ways. Having played Elder Scrolls games for longer than most of the Morrowind-fanboy latecomers on the forum, I like a lot of what they did with Oblivion. The sword hit them. Why shouldn't it do the barest minimum of damage? Many of the complaints are simply mistaken design decisions, and not ones necessarily aimed at streamlining - say, removing entire optional guilds and factions to join. That doesn't add anything to newcomers, that's still taking away.

Medal of HOnor Allied Assault

Call of Duty 1

Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 4(which while overrated is still really good, I mean there are a bunch of gamers here ready to suck IW off because they love this game so much).

Blizzard and Nintendo's best. Sure Nintendo releases quite a few duds and sub-par games, but they manage to release so many high quality games and in higher quantity than Blizzard that you have to give them credit. Still, Blizzard deserves credit for successfully brainwashing both China and South Korea with WoW and Starcraft. :P

Blizzard is probably the best, warcraft diablo starcraft, all my favourite games. I also enjoyed rock and roll racing as kid. Bioware is up there too. Bungie too with myth and halo. Valve has done a good job too. I can't think of any others that even would deserve a mention though, oh Nintendo is good too. Other then that, no one deserves to be typed in this thread.

Nintendo. Sure Blizzard has some gems, but Nintendo is practically a diamond mine by comparison.

Blizzard has been one studio all along, except for Blizzard North and the Diablo games. Mentioning 'Nintendo' calls up something like two dozen studios, though I think Nintendo EAD is the one people would be thinking of... which is itself six separate dev teams. :D

My opinion is Blizzard, no doubt.

Nintendo releases it's share of bad titles, but it's been over a decade since anything "average" was released by Blizzard, in my personal opinion.

I remember when they cancelled Ghost, everyone had questions, and they said they didn't release it because it didn't meet THEIR standards. That game would've sold millions regardless of it's quality, but Blizzard cancelled it anyway. A lot of companies would've released it because the time and money spent on it, but Blizzard just said "No".
