I really liked it. I got more out of it than I did with current gen Killzones or Modern Warfares.

It's pacing was just right, spacing the highs and lows of action just right. Nice variety in weapons. Great variety in enemy types. Vehicular battle awesome, especially the space battle in the Sabers. Narrative progression matched the gradually increasing cadence of the action.

I love that it allows campaign scoring with optional modifiers. Online co-op. I mean... it is the full package as far as single player campaigns are concerned. Oodles of content that was put together with plenty of polish.

People finding Reach frustrating (solo on legendary) should try halo 2 or CE. From my first playthrough i started on legendary and finished it in under 7hours (solo) then tryed Halo 2 on legenday for fun and daaaaaaaaaamn son, its one million times harder.silversix_

CE is easy on legendary. 2 is easy too as long you sneak around and think, but it does get annoying on the aribiter tank levels.

the reason why everyone hates it is because you play on heroic alone. Play the campaign on legendary 2 player and you will see why humanity is getting its butt kicked in the covanent-human war...

I played Legendary solo and that was reason enough to see why humanity got whooped.

Nowhere near Crysis 2, Resistance 2, Killzone 2&3. It's pretty bad actually, I'd compare it to Haze.

Reach is the only Halo game (so far) that I've played the campaign of, and I loved it. The ending was amazing. It would be up there with some of my favourite endings (along with Red Dead Redemption and inFamous) I really should play Halo 3, but I suppose I should play the first 2 games before I do that.

And then you run into the Jackal Snipers. Mother fu-

Reach had a great campaign. I liked the flow of the Covenant invasion of the planet, even though I didn't get to see the hundreds of ships in space or large invasion forces slaughtering marines/civilians. I would have loved that, would have made more of an impact.

I really enjoyed it. Really tough call for me between Halo 3 and Reach, but overall I think I would give Reach the edge. People who say Halo campaigns are nothing worthwhile I simply don't understand, I really feel as though these remain some of the most consistently fun and replayable first person shooters out there (save for ODST, did not like that one bit).

i like how TC says he didn't like reach's campaign, which is fine, but then he praises CODs and KZs campaigns.

anyway i liked it. It had better pace than the other ones, and more variety.

It was meh.

Halo CE still has the best campaignin theseriesto this day

Halo 2 was fun, mainly due to all the easter eggs and glitches, but after that the single player portions of all the Halo games were pretty medicore, except ODST. If ODST dropped the bare bones free-roam crap, and put more focus on the missions it could have been better. I liked it more then Reach or 3 though; single player only though.

It was good. Not many high points like Halo 3's scarab battle, but no low points like the Library or back tracking.

It was in desperate need of a epic Scarab Battle, but was good none the less. I'd rate it first story wise, but I'm not sure how I'd rank the Halo campaigns. I'd say CE would probably be first, followed by ODST then Halo 3/Reach, & then Halo 2/Reach. I probably had more co-op fun in Halo 2+3 but then again Reach didn't have any of the flood levels...

Basically:

  • Halo CE
  • ODST
  • Halo 3
  • Halo 2

With Reach being somewhere around Halo 3 & Halo 2, possibly better/worse than both, to me personally.

Reach has the best campaign imo. It had alot of outdoor, open maps... which is what i always liked about the series.

Considering this was one of the biggest canon fights in halo, I was extremely disappointed with what I wanted and what actually was there. I never once felt like I was in a large scale epic battle, more like a small scale skirmish while all the cool fighting was way off in the distance. Very lacking in story and setpiece moments compaired to other halo's. And everyone hates the flood, but without them it felt like the same fights over and over with no variety. Very average to me.

it was pretty good, not the most exciting, but I did beat it in one sitting which is quite a feat for me. The ending was pretty epic, and was a satisfying conclusion

After playing a few times through I'll say only good since I find myself wishing I were Master Chief and I'm not a fan of the no win situation both in gaming and in real life. :P

Bring it on....

Halo 4: The Return of the Chief.

The game felt completely uninspired to me, and definitely not up to par with the last seven-ish years of FPS games.

There didn't seem to be any particularly memorable set pieces, the story didn't do anything interesting, the gameplay was pretty standard Halo fare...it all just suffered from general meh-ness. I didn't see what all the fuss was about.

Awesome. Enjoyed it more the multiplayer actually. Solo'd the entire campaign within a day, and then played some co-op, then replayed the entire campaign with my roommate. Then replayed parts of it with my girlfriend.

Somethings irked me, like how I still felt like I was owning the Covenent singlehandedly. Wanted more "There's no way I can win this" vibes, and more time to flesh out the characters. But I definitely enjoyed it.

It's the first Halo game I actually enjoyed. It was freaking fun. Loved the more open-ended levels and tight gameplay.

It was good, but i still enjoyed Halo 2's above the others. Next comes CE, then Reach, then 3 and finally, crappy ODST.

Once you've played through Reach on normal and then a second time on Legendary, only then you'll truly understand the awesomeness of this great games campaign.

Although I agree I found Halo: CE's campaign much better, probably due to sheer originality.

LOL@people who rated the campaign as "garbage"...come on.

Thats complet bull... CE wasn't super hard but still much harder than Reach but saying Halo 2 "wasn'tthat hard"is just lolz. The reason i actually played Halo 2 after beating Reach is because i fund Reach extremely easy so wanted to see whats the difference between Halo2/Reach and damn you can't even compare the two when it comes to difficulty.

Beat 'em both on legendary many times myself and with co-op, so not sure what you're talking about. On CE, I feel like a freaking tank, and in 2, all you have to do is sneak around to avoid snipers. I haven't tried Reach's legendary yet, so I don't know where it stacks compared to those two. Probably easier, but still, I say CE and 2's campaigns were not hard.

It was great and very chalenging, no doubt. But the story could have been better and it seriously lacked epic moments like the scarabs in Halo 3.

Just speaking for myself, I had plenty of epic shootouts on Legendary. Some battles with Scarabs would have indeed added to it, but even so, I found the campaign to be a blast as it was.

I enjoyed it. I think it lived up to Bungie's name. The actual story was terrible, Bungie broke so much canon it was unreal.

It was forgetfull trash. Why Bungie can't just make a campaign like they did in Halo 1 is beyond me.

Stringerboy

ODSTs campaign is by far the most similar to CEs.
