[QUOTE="bez2083"]Both are e-penis enhancers. My friend has a GS of 105,000. But in order to achieve it, he had to play through some ****** games. Games that he would've never played if there were no achievements.MightyMuna
ok, so he bought lots of crap games or games he did not like in order to 'achieve' that score. so what has he gained? seriously, does it make him look cool, what is the purpose? lol. when he reaches 1 billion score, what is going to happen? nothing. what will he achieve? nothing. I just dont get it. but if it makes people feel 'cool', then they should go on, do whatever makes you happy.

Agreed, but the only way I'm playing Avatar, Lips, or that lame ass Doritos game is if I'm paid to do so.

Since achievements have been implemented to ALL 360 games and not just some like PS3, obviously 360.Synthetic_NinJI
I remember Sony saying they are becoming mandatory.

The purpose is to have fun. You know, like the purpose of playing games?

If it gives a person the purpose to play the game then what does it matter to you :| Having fun is subjective.

While this also counts for trophies , a quick look hummiliates all those "bronze only" losers .

siLVURcross
How is someone who only has bronze trophies a loser? :|

Agreed, I got 9 free bronzes in Mirror's Edge because each bronze trophy I got was for beating a chapter...

The thing is, Bronze Trophies, Gold, and Silver sometimes they have an odd balance. At least for the games I own... which so far is just Wipeout HD. I mean each race you beat is only bronze, doing things like 99 LAPS in a single race is an award for a Gold Trophy which.. seriously who the hell has the time? O.o However there's few silvers I noticed in the game, and a majority of bronzes even for some challenging things. Like really, can you better balance them please? I think that's why I like achievements. Points are tied usually with the difficulty of the games. Not saying Achievements have their fair share of baddies like Trophies on Wipeout, but I just don't feel either are totally superior also. I'm not fond of this collection aspect.

Achievements, but I only have 10 trophies I think. If I had more, they'd be even.

Since MS makes the data openly available to community developers, achievements can be shared. Just take a look at the sigs of some of the people with Xbox Live. They're dynamically updated and can be viewed on the console, on Xbox.com, forums, blogs, etc. Even 360voice.com does autoblogging with RSS support.

Trophies, well......not so much. You can see them only on the console. At times, they require an synching process just to view even your own trophies. Sites like tripletags and playfire still require you to manually update what games you've played.

In that respect, Achievements (not just the points) do a better job of being a social networking widget than trophies.

Achievements. They are universally implemented and have been since day 1. Since trophies have not been, they seem off to me.SpruceCaboose
very true, not every ps3 game comes with achivements, is sony lost? Sometimes I get angry at sony for trying to do so many things and not fully realising any of them they need to figure out a strategy of their own

Achievements because they have been there in every game since launch. Trophies just aren't there yet. I mean they launched trophies with only one game supported it? If it's a mulitplatform game I'll most likely get it for the 360 for achievements, play with friends, and xbox live. :)
