I think something is being forgotten here, the original xbox has a Pentium 3 based on a mobile design, so it was a mix of a pentium and a mobile celeron, not a stripped down power PC, Microsoft never made any money on the xbxo due to the cost of the machine, and learned this time with an in-order processor that is not nearly as powerful as anything put out by Intel or AMD, PS3 suffers the same fate of a crippled ProcessorI have not seen anything on the Wii that the original xbox could not easily do, it was a pretty powerful system for its time, and certainly more powerful than the Ps2, the built in hard drive helped alot to

and yet xbox did not do much above the PS2 and GC arguably had the best looking games of last generation. Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 still rival with current games. The fact is the games that are actually taken seriously on Wii beat the top games of last gen.
I'm going by the data on Wikipedia on this ...
The Wii has a 729Mhz CPU, with a 243Mhz GPU.
The Xbox had a 733Mhz CPU, with a 233Mhz GPU.
Going by this overly-simplified data, it is obvious that they are roughly the same technically power-wise. That doesn't mean anything about the graphics. I think that the Wii has proven that, though the console isn't as technically powerful as the others, it has also leaped in graphical capabilities compared to the last-gen predecessors ...
the wii is more capable, but not by much.
SMG overall is more visually impressive than any game released last generation. the textures and effects at times rival (or mimic you could say) those seen in 360/ps3 games (the gorgeous fur shading and metalic surfaces), but in other parts its quite jaggy and low detail. still, itsa big graphical leap over sunshine and ahead of the best looking cartoonish game last gen (conker L&R)
plus, this is only the wii's first year on the market. it will have better looking games in the future.

uh you might want to go look again, at games like Conker bad fur day for the xbox, there are games for the xbox that are easily better graphically than the cube or PS2 could produce
Also with the Pentium 3, the original xbox has an out of order processor, and the Power PC in the Wii is an in order processor, technically as advance as a pentium 1, the xbox was a very powerful system for its time, it was saddled down with ports from the other platforms, mostly the PS2
EDIT, sorry, its conker live and reloaded, take a look

Um Im sorry but if you played conkers you will know that SMG trumps it on many fronts. First the backrounds and textures in Conkers doesnt hold a candle to SMG. If you have seen Conkers run with lots going on you would see that SMG 60 FPS looks much nicer. All around SMG looks much better, this was just an idea posed by fanboys whent hey first saw the early builds of SMG. It doesnt even compare now and in all rights shouldnt because Wii is a much more new system.
Its true the Xbox had alot of raw power but the GC still consistantly had better looking games esp when the devs paid attention to it. Its true the GC and the Xbox could have had much better looking games but the PS2 was the hotspot so its only fair that the games were focused on the nest selling system.

we still dont know the final numbers of the Wii specs, Nintendo never let the final numbers go.
From a technical perspective, the Wii is still a last gen console. Even if it is slightly more powerful, it is certainly in the same league as the original Xbox.Nonam3gamer
It is all moot. The Wii is killing both the Xbox and 360.

its also moot that Wii has weaker graphics than PS3 and 360 because the games are still awsome

Wii >> Xbox
its not a big deal or anything. The Wii better be looking that much better or else that would be sad.
Fanboys just took early snapshots of SMG and compared them to Conkers a finished game.
They are doing the same thing with disaster right now when the games pictures were relaesed last april and the game comes out at the end of 2008.
Ninja Gaiden Black was the best looking game last gen (arguably). RE4 still looks pretty good on the Wii.DaysAirlinesand SMG looks better than both.

[QUOTE="OoSuperMarioO"][QUOTE="darth-pyschosis"]PS2 was trash. PS1? N64>PS1. Gameboy?Pass, Gamebpoypocket>Gameboy(Pokemon Red and Blue). DS? PSP>DS. Wii? Halo 3>Wii Sports.Okay go to wikipedia
look for Xbox specs.
look for (estimated coz Ninty hasn't released official info) and it will say
Wii processor clocked at somewhere between 820mhz-900mhz.
The Xbox had about 450mhz or less I believe.
Super Mario Galaxy couldn't have been done on anything but Wii, PS3, 360.
Visually that is.
Infact most tech. sites who've opened the Wii up and checked out the hardware have said it probably could do 720p with no problems. And people who know that have no clue why Nintendo doesn't seem interested in HD for the Wii when it probably could handle it.
Perhaps a Wii HD down the road somewhere or an update to upscale?
Hey, it isn't impossible.
the PS2 wasn't more powerful than the GCN, Xbox.
the PS1 wasn't most powerful.
The GameBoy wasn't the most powerful.
the DS isn't the most powerful.
the Wii isn't the most powerful.
You see, people like playing games for y'know, gaming!

And The new one looks so awsome. Its just that fanboys are so hateful of the wii they will say whatever possible to discredit it. I do wish Wii was more powerful but obviously Wii has some awsome games out.

hell some games on xbox even did 720p

Arguably? The game owned anything that came near it graphically.
I wonder how NG would look on wii.[QUOTE="Sparky04"][QUOTE="DaysAirlines"]Ninja Gaiden Black was the best looking game last gen (arguably). RE4 still looks pretty good on the Wii.Mad_Rhetoric

I wonder how NG would look on wii.We will never know because third party publishers wont start paying attention to wii until they face the music.
If they really wanted to make it look better they could.
Sunshine and Galaxy look the same to me in character model and texture. The only difference is that galaxy is more shiny at some levels. Other then that they look the same!!!

Wow they really do look the same. There is slightly better detail on the bosses than in SMS but the overall look is shockingly similar. Good vid.

i dont know where these people are getting this crap but its completely unfounded.

wow what a huge difference
Of course SMG looks better, but man, it's not a huge jump at all. Nintendo may have ripped people off

Doom 3 has a ridiculously uninspired look to it. Even being technically the best, I wouldn't be wowed( it doesn't wow me any on my PC, just contributes to the boring nature of the game).

Play both games, then tell us what you think. Videos, screenshots...all good for checking out games, but for serious graphical comparisons? Give me a break.
I said in the original post SMG looks better (I would hope so sheesh, the Wii is supposed to be a contending with next-gen systems)
But like I also said, the difference isn't remarkable. it doesn't floor you or knock you back. It's more of a slightly admirable, teeny weeny upgrade, like a RAM pak installation for Turok 2 on N64. I don't see huge polygon differences from Sunshine, not much in the way of advanced lighting (why should there be, the Wii can't do next-gen HDR), and for all the power of the Wii (hyuk hyuk) it still has not eradicated the pronounced jaggies and rather dull resolution. (wasn't Sunshine also 480p?)
Like I said, SMG looks better but the advancements are nothing to write home about. And I took that screenshot right from the Gametrailers.com video provided in this thread. Go write them your angry email. I printed that screen directly and did not touch a thing (nor would I want to spend more than 2 minutes with that icky thing on my computer anyways)

You have no room to talk about screen shots sir, until you respond to my post in your other topic.
