Looks like more of the same from Ubi which is eh whatever. A unique setting and antagonists aren't going to make up for a boring gameplay loop.

Ubisoft games look beautiful, their worlds at times are amazing to explore...

But yeah they fail in the gameplay department time after time :(

I enjoyed FC1

I didn't care for FC2

I loved FC3

I mostly liked FC4 but it got repetitive/boring near the middle

FCPrimal I hated, and it even looked like a step backwards graphically

FC5 I'll play the wait and see card, or steam sale.

I liked 4 and 3 but I don't know, I think the formula is getting stale.

The gameplay is fine. The SP campaign structure needs to be revamped. I don't know some say it's more of the same when I can't even do this in FC3 or FC2.

@jun_aka_pekto: Outpost reset is not some drastic gameplay change, inherently changing how a game plays.

It's a side feature at best.

It's not that part I'm referring to. It's the powered flight (for exploring and fighting) part. Plus, the cluster bomb-like mortar round certainly altered the way I can approach the bad guys.

Some players choose not to use them. I do, and their use changed the way I play Far Cry 4 in comparison to Far Cry 3. Then, there's the grappling hook mechanic which also altered the way I play the game.

Even the hang glider, wing suit, and parachute from Far Cry 3 got a boost in Far Cry 4. The player can shoot back from them now unlike in Far Cry 3.

I'm so rusty in Far Cry 4 that I forgot about the mortar in the YT video.

When I played Far Cry 4, I ran with MG42 and Mortar in the second part of the game... so good.

Would you recommend playing any of the DLC for Far Cry 4 ? Like the yeti ?

_______

But I know what you mean, mate. When I was playing Wolfenstein II I kept reading negative reviews about how short the game was...

But this was not the case for me. I absolutely loved every moment of that game, so I kept exploring levels and tried to find every enemy and collectible.

After the game was done, you could play enigma missions (which people complaining the game was short never did). And they changed the game completely.

So yeah, this wasn't a short game for me, and something like enigma missions was a MAJOR addition for me.

The new Wolfenstein game is certainly in my radar. But, it'll have to wait until I have my fill of the STALKER games. It's almost a certainty I'll buy FC5. But, I'll wait for reviews first. There's also Titanfall 2 which I haven't gotten around to buying yet.

I haven't bought any FC4 DLC. I'm not fond of them. The base game is satisfying enough to me.

come on my friend,

comparing STALKER to new wolfenstein is like comparing Diamond to Trash.

STALKER is still one of the greatest game of all time. but i think Metro exodus will fill the gap of Stalker. since its bieng inspired by Stalker. its basically imagine Stalker in 4A engine.

@ghosts4ever: Stalkers shooting mechanics are crap. Wolfensteins shooting mechanics are off this world.

You are right: It is like comparing diamond to trash.

i would say new colosus improve shooting over new order but everyother thing it was step back.

new order has lame shooting.

Stalker has like one of the best gunplay ever. i really enjoy shooting with ak 47 in stalker. especially headshots.

Not true

In new colossus you could combine any weapon to get any combination you'd want:

- Assault rifle with SMG (this is how I played 99% of the time)

- Assault rifle with shotgun

- Kampfpistole with dieselkraftwerk, which is basically firing two rocket launchers at the same time

Not too mention all the mounted weapons you could carry around, like the überweapon, the four barreled shotgun, ... (in TNO and TOB there were only two mounted weapons you could pick up, and they were both the same)

No other shooter comes close to how fun and visceral the gunplay feels in Wolfenstein II.

I really loved FarCry 3, 4 was good as well... Its a game that looks like fun to just run around in which I might end up getting if its on sale for £30.

I'm playing in parallel: Call of Pripyat (with Absolute Nature 4.04), Call of Chernobyl v1.4.22 (with Absolute Nature Redux), and Call of Chernobyl v1.4.16 (with hardcore Call of Misery mod). If I'm in the mood, I also have SoC and CS installed, both with the Complete Mod.

For a pure FPS, I look for simplicity which is why I treat the STALKER games more like RPGs. They have too much dialogue and micromanagement to feel like an FPS. They're like RPGs with guns. Obviously, the gun play should feel like an FPS. Otherwise, it would look silly. But, the overall feel of STALKER is like an RPG to me. The Wolfenstein (and Far Cry) games more approach my definition of an FPS. Not much micromanagement and more action.

Make no mistake, I'm having a blast with the STALKER games once the issues I have with them are fixed with mods.

The Metro games are more like STALKER: Call of Duty. Nothing wrong with that so long as the presentation is good although replay value is almost non-existent.

Giant arrows pointing your enemies, large indicators for every single, tiny thing including indicator to tell you where a nearby car is. Apparently Ubisoft feels that today's younger gamers are too stupid. Are the millennial's really so needy that even their games have to hold their hands for them just like their mom does or are they so absent minded they can't map out their environment in their head as they explore? How many morons out there are there really that can't figure out who their enemy is and needs a giant red arrow over their heads? wtf lol. It just ruins the immersion and treats you like a toddler, no wonder so many young adults are still living at home.

My memory isn't anywhere what it used to be at 41 yrs old but even I managed to play GTA 5, Skyrim and others without any onscreen indicators or maps. I guess those Spongebob Squarepants type cartoons really does cause ADHD.

I agree. At least, Ubisoft allows turning off parts or all of the UI. I know that's the case in PC Far Cry 4.

I hope that's the case in FC 5. I know FC 3 didn't. I much preferred FC 2 where you had a paper map and compass you could bring up if you wanted.

I had to use a hack that employed a hex editor to hide the minimap in Far Cry 3. Too much work. The map in Far Cry 2 was my favorite as well. The nice thing about is I can use it while my character is walking or driving.

I took screenshots of every game I played....and kept them. The bottom is a sample of Far Cry 3 with no HUD. ;)

Only reason I'm considering it is because of the co-op. Going through it with a bud would be a lot more fun than alone.

I might get it for co-op. Not too interested in it though. loved 3 and blood dragon.

4 felt too similar to 3,but also in general everything looked the same and just didn't enjoy it nearly as much.

I'm also not crazy about this new setting - I'd love to see them revisit Africa.

I enjoyed 3 but I never liked 4 but 5 looks so different from all the other far cry games and I like the fact that the game takes place in America.

Haven't tried it but along the same lines; I got Ghost Recon: Wildlands as a free b with my X1X and I'm really digging it thus far.
