Since I have a Mac, I have very few games that actually run on my computer. If I had a PC though, I would probably do some PC gaming, mostly old games if that was the case.

I play a few old strategy games on the PC, and I mess around with the Sims and Sim city from time to time. I would never play a game thats not a strategy game on PC, however. I'm not very tech savvy, I don't want to spend the money to build a PC nor do I have the know how. I prefer playing with console hooked up to TV. Its much more comfortable and versatile.

I absolutely LOVE my pc. Matter of fact we have 3 in our home I have built some time back. I do everything on it. Use it hours a day. I dont think its the best device for gaming but it has its goods and bads. Every time I think I have done all there is to do...I find something else to do on it. Without my pc im totally useless...

But for my games "other than medal of honor franchise" console is the choice for me.

[QUOTE="POJO_MOFO"]What I dont get is why people think bulding a PC is some hard, super difficult task. Spend an hour doing some research and its like putting together a puzzle, really easy. I also think PC gaming is cheaper because everyone NEEDS a PC, wheather you buy a $500 budget deal from Dell/HP/etc or build a gaming rig for $700, so you are just adding a fractional cost. You can build a very good gaming PC for $500 these days, the same as iff you bought a standard pre-built Lastly, for me personally, I can game while my wife watches her TV and not have to worry about fighting over it.

Exactly! Most people seem to ignore the fact that they spend $500 on a computer anyways. They could probably upgrade the GPU and be able to play games!

I think of all PC games as skinned Powerpoint presentations

I have no idea why someone would waste their time playing on a PC but at the same time I don't mind that people DO waste their time playing on a PC

If they like it so be it, it's just not for me

They're not bad, but I just don't see the added value over consoles. My gaming PC sits there doing nothing most of the time.

PC gaming is an entirely different animal to console gaming... and so many consolites say that PC gaming is "dying" or that it "doesn't compare" then all I do is ask: "Then why are consoles giving up the only thing that made them consoles, that is, plug-n-play capability, for PC gaming elements like downloadable updates, patches and extra content as well as hard drive installations and internet-based multiplayer?"

I personally as a console and PC gamer liked when the two remained separate, I had two distinct kinds of platforms to play games on... now aside from my growing collection of older, "true" consoles, just have one; PC gaming, one the real thing and the other gimped.

I don't see consoles getting Empire: Total War. If I could afford a gaming PC I'd probably leave my consoles to collect dust for a while.

For gaming(besides crysis, and the ever so addicting Q3 Arena) it offers nothing but boring simulators, rpg's, rts's, and multiplats that always come out late and need patched.

For everything else the PC is GOD!!!!!!!!!

P.S. My laptop can run Crysis smooth as butter on medium settings at 1024x768 which still looks better than anything on console. It's also portable and with that said my laptop>>>>>>>>>>PC

i
[QUOTE="PS3nut"]

i have never had a problem with pop ups, viruses or freeze ups, and i have no virus software or spyware on my computer because it's never needed.

bladeeagle

Pop ups are from internets and are usually blocked by the web browser's popup blockers. In the course of using firefox, I almost never see a pop-up.

Viruses are recieved usually from shady websites or bad downloads (torrented files, porn, downloads from bad websites). I almost never recieve them because I'm smart on the internet. Just stay away from torrents and porn and you should be fine. As always, there are multiple anti-virus software that you can download or purchase.

Freeze ups? I almost never encounter freezes and if I do, a simple restart is all that I need.

I find macs to be a bit overpriced and am completely satisfied with my PC.

a bit overpriced? more like alot, i seen a mac monitor 22" with 16ms response time which is just awful, it was retailing at bestbuy for over a grand, then i loook beside it with samsung with 5 ms response time for 200... apple products just looks nice but what you get is kinda poor

Pcs are obviously better than consoles. PC gaming IMO is too much of a problem. But, that's just me.

Couth_

I agree. I prefer consoles to PC, and my PC specs dominate my consoles

So you'd rather play on an inferior piece of hardware despite the fact that your PC has better hardware than your console's?

For example, if you played Dead Space, you'd rather play on your inferior console despite the fact that you can simply plug your Xbox 360 controller into your PC and have better graphics and performance, and the game would control identically to the inferior console? Amazing.

As for the TC, PC's are the best. More options with how you want to play your game, etc.

Also, playing games on a PC is pretty straightforward. Especially if you have Vista and Auto Update turned on. In this day and age, you'd have to be the lowest simpleton to think that gaming on a PC is "too much of a problem".

Unmmm if you want me to clarify my point then I will: I have no friends that game on PC (regularly) Most of the games I can get on my 360 and get almost the same exact experience. Starcraft 2 is the only game on PC that interest me and that not a good enough reason to invest. I have no need for a gameing rig IMO I think its a waste of time.

I own a Wii, 360 and PC, and I must say that I enjoy PC gaming so much more than the consoles I own. Everything on PC looks sharper and more vibrant compared to their console counterpart and I get to use any control method I like. My PC gaming experience has been so much better than my console experience.

Everyone is entitled to enjoy gaming how ever they choose.

I think console gaming is a waste because a PC can game, and do so much more. For example, I was just playing Dead Space. I can pause it, hit alt-tab, and surf the web. And then simply go back to the game at the blink of an eye.

Also, a good gaming PC can also do so many more things than just game.

But to each is his own, I suppose.

Consoles was a waste of time and money for me lets get started

ps3 500
360 500
hdtv 600
initial cost = 1600

cant play online for 360 need to pay 60 dollars a year, then i buy it a find that i only play for about 2 months of it, why? cause it sucks lag FTL, host shutting down games FTL you get my point, xbox live is a joke for the price..

ps3 has almost no games, mgs4 was awsome i loved it but is that all?

and on top of that all the games i find on consoles and pc, the console version would cost me about 20 bucks more for each game, this adds up the cost on consoles considerably,

now for my pc

My pc cost me 1300 with EVERYTHING, including monitor,os,mobo, video card i mean everytihng, and all my parts are QUALITY parts not bargain parts

specs
gigabyte p45 ds4p
xfx 8800gts g92
500gb seagate hdd 32mb cache
E8400 3.0 able to overclock to 4.0
zalman 9700NT
samsung 20inch lcd 2ms
auzentech X-FI prelude 7.1 sound card
Razer baracuda 5.1 headphones
antec 900
4gb mushkin 1066 memory 5-5-5-15
windows ultimate
corsair HX620 psu

so my initail cost for my pc was 1300 and i get the full pc experience whereas console to get full experience is to pay 1600 and i still dont have 5.1 for my consoles yet,

consoles IS MORE EXPENSIVE THEN PC IF YOU WANT FULL EXPERIENCE, even with 2 consoles and an hdtv pc is still better.. not in just performance but for price, and the games... i only use consoles when friends/family are over, thats all

*EDIT* i also havent had a console game that held me on it for more then 2 months, and yes i own all the best xbox 360 games, i sold some *halo 3 gears of war 1, forza 2* the replay value in console games are poor, not only that but they lack in content and if you want more you have to PAY HAHA, pay for maps, levels, etc. another reason why pc gaming is better is because of user generated content, which is sometimes better than most developer generated content seen on consoles.. i also got 2 broken 360 which needed replacement, console hardware fails in raw performance and reliability, they are also backed up with **** warranty compared to pc, my psu has 5 year warranty, video card has double liftime warranty which means the next person that buys my card off me will get support, hard drive 5 years, you get my point.. i also would rather have the ability to fix my pc problems which ill tell you i almost never have problems but when i do i can fix it, unlike consoles if i got aproblem i got to go through microsoft/sony.

anyway consoles are great but they arent anywhere near pc */EDIT*

Your link is to a pc that costs over $2,000. My xbox elite cost me $400. While the graphics might no be quite as tight as they are on a pc, the difference is marginal enough that I don't want to spend $1,500 to make up the difference. Also there is way more games released for the consoles than for the pc nowdays. Besides, sitting on my couch playing my 360 plugged into my hdtv with the hdmi cable will always be better than sitting at a desk playing on a monitor. imo

I can't speak for him, but I certainly did exactly that, with the exact game mentioned (Dead Space) as well as plenty of others (Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3, GTA IV, Call of Duty, etc.). I'm well aware that my gaming PC is overwhelmingly more powerful than my consoles, but I'm still happier playing on the PS3 or 360. I could try to convince myself that I'd be happier playing on the superior hardware, but why struggle against preference?

My PC is my central media hub in my house. I have a 7TB harddrive array that I use to stream all sorts of media to my consoles and to other PCs in the house. My PC is absolutely awesome for gaming. The fact that I can do so much with my PC and that I can run the newest games out there maxed @ 1920x1200+ makes me constantly question why there is so much PC hate on these boards. I am sorry to inform System Wars, but PC is better than all of my consoles combined. It is the work horse in my household and I depend on it to be stable and fast.

PC gaming is an entirely different animal to console gaming... and so many consolites say that PC gaming is "dying" or that it "doesn't compare" then all I do is ask: "Then why are consoles giving up the only thing that made them consoles, that is, plug-n-play capability, for PC gaming elements like downloadable updates, patches and extra content as well as hard drive installations and internet-based multiplayer?" I personally as a console and PC gamer liked when the two remained separate, I had two distinct kinds of platforms to play games on... now aside from my growing collection of older, "true" consoles, just have one; PC gaming, one the real thing and the other gimped.foxhound_fox
Exactly. The only thing that is dying here is the console. They are just becoming more PC-like. To bad most console only fanboys won't see it this way even though there really is no other way to see it.

Although i do game on PC, its generally only RTS and the odd RPG game.

I just prefer console gaming. I like playing games. Installing and configuring them is not something that I like to waste time on.

Both have their merits. PC gaming allows me to configure my gaming experience the way I want it to. I can play with just about any input method I desire, mod my games the way I want them to, and generally just tweak things to my liking. The complexity also carries over to the games somewhat, as the PC is the only way to go for hardcore simulations. It's also easier to play older PC games on a newer PC compared to consoles, though there's the occasional game that only ever works right on an old PC running an old OS. However, it's more expensive than console gaming (unless you buy a lot of new games over a long period of time of owning both, where the cheaper PC game pricing compensates for the more expensive hardware), and more complex. Some people don't want their primary gaming system to end up not booting up properly one day, or to get hit by a nasty malware infection, or to end up having to resolve driver conflicts and whatnot...and don't even get me started on the whole issue of DRM. Console gaming is simple plug-and-play, or at least that's what it used to be before they started trying to become PCs in a sense. They're still simpler and generally don't have as many hassles while being cheaper, but that obviously comes at the cost of flexibility. The consoles generally get more JRPGs, fighting games, platformers, and action-adventure titles, and pull about even on other genres (except for non-racing simulations, where they tend to fall quite short of the PC). I tend to lean more toward the PC due to my favoring the overall flexibility of the platform and not caring about having to work around the occasional technical issue, but I have no qualms about firing up a console game every once in a while.

Its certainly the best platorm in terms of content, but the industry's lack of respect for the end-user (and vice-versa) can turn what should be a relatively simple process (insert disk/download, install, update, play game) into a veritable cluster****. PBSnipes
Just look at the company "Valve". You could also look at the most respected gaming company on the face of the earth "Blizzard".

As far as I'm concerned, PCs are superior gaming machines to consoles. While yes, they tend (unless you find good deal) to be more expensive than consoles when you get a high-ender, but I'll only need to upgrade it, not buy a new one, which should cut some cost off quite nicely. PC games appeal to me considerably more than console games, and there's a much larger amount of PC games. I've also got more singleplayer longevity out of my PC games than console games, though that may be because the only console games I've played are crappy pieces of crap.

[QUOTE="thegoldenpoo"][QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]

I think of all PC games as skinned Powerpoint presentations

I have no idea why someone would waste their time playing on a PC but at the same time I don't mind that people DO waste their time playing on a PC

If they like it so be it, it's just not for me

Jaysonguy

Jaysonguy there, proving ignorance truly ISN'T bliss. I guess you didn't get the memmo that the PC also plays almost every single console game. They don't call them multiplats for nothing.

Don't care

Less games

Awful control styles (I'm sorry but W-A-S-D seems like a typing course, not controls for my FPS)

Plus the money aspect is moot. If you're playing games and have to worry about money then you picked the wrong hobby. "oh I can make a PC that's only 400 dollars and upgrade the video card in blah blah blah"

No thank you. People can tinker with the new strategy game for Microsoft Works. I don't care if they do, it's just not for me.

You just took ignorance to a whole new level.
