I want new ips, anything else I can take or leave. But I want new shit, I don't want another parade of sequels, I don't want the fucking come back of ips I might even have some affection for (Time Splitters, No One Lives Forever, Metroid, Viva Pinata, Okami), I want new things. This medium already has a sequel problem, and more so I want some triple A one offs. Legitimately well made, and well produced games, that handle the business side of things, but won't be getting fucking sequels.

Otherwise I want this medium to start making more attempts to tell a story through interactive means, and less through passive means (cutscenes). Yes it limits you a little bit, but I don't like shittier version of movies. I don't fucking have a diet consisting of pocky, so a lot of JRPG story telling to me, is exactly what it is: hot fucking garbage. I don't ignore wildly superior films to be all that impressed by shitty crime dramas from Rockstar or the likes of Mafia, and Naughty Dog is painfully generic, execution end is nice, but **** you I want new things, as I don't subscribe to the narrative that you must judge shitty ass video game stories in a vacuum.

Silent Hill 2, Planescape, and Shadow of the Colossus nail their shit in a video game. Soma doesn't actually work without some of the twists that involve it being a video game, Portal took advantage of being a video game, Sunless Sea takes advantage of being a video game. The Souls games take advantage of being a video game. It wouldn't kill some of these triple A cats to actually take a chance.

Beyond that I just need better design across the board as far as games. I don't have a particular preference or style of game. Limited huds don't do anything for me, nor bother me when the game can validate its huds, likewise if you're going to have scoring systems (which I like), I'd like them to be done well. And above all else if you think your genre is an excuse to give me shitty combat, when the combat makes up most of the experience, **** you in advance.

Western game developers, triple A side, need to be less hot garbage at difficulty settings. It's like a weird lost art form out here or something.

Yeah i'm desperate for new stuff , that's why i'm gonna go Nintendo ! It's been long time since i've played their games ...

How can scoring system be done right?

Here's one I have been hoping for since 2010 (2009?). More information on Agent. At least tell if it still exists ;__;

How can scoring system be done right?

Ideally the scoring system should reward the thing you want the player to get good at with the systems.

Platinum Games scoring systems are pretty straight forward: Don't fucking get it. It sounds difficult, because it is, there is a learning curve to play that game, but all the mechanics are there in Bayonetta where even on the highest difficulty you can get good enough that the enemies won't even touch you. And as a result that ties into your ability to do the combat more efficiently and quicker, it ties into how varied your combo selection will be, and how prolonged you can make it (dodge offset is necessary if you're going to be working on not getting hit).

In contrast: Valkyria Chronicles, excellent fucking game, one of my favorite games from the previous generation, I'm not the biggest fan of how it handles the grading system. For starters it tends to reward speed, which isn't inherently a bad thing, but in VC1 it basically takes away the concept of handling a mission tactically, and really just taking advantage of your scouts and bum rushing the ever living shit out of a lot of missions.

MGSV is similar in this regard, pure stealth gets the job done as well, as it should, that should be system: do this quietly, max grade. Get alerted once? Significant hit to your grade. But it also really gives a generous award to time, that really a lot of those missions can be cheesed as well, and that to me takes away from the thing you want the player the get good at.

Otherwise they've been done right plenty, Arcade games did them well for decades, Platinum has a good handle on it, more recently Velocity 2x, and the like. Platinum has neutered it a bit, as the non Kamiya games tend to be nicer about poor performance and giving the player a silver/gold medal, which I think speaks more to the pansy mentality we've created in the modern era, where no one likes hearing and seeing that they actually aren't that good at video games, just because they can make it to the end credits.
