No matter how many Wiis sell it still has last Gen graphics. So really it's a hollow victory.

Who cares? Not Nintendo, they make lots of money, to a business, thats all that counts. M$ and $ony go the hi-tech way, thinking thats what the market wants. Nintendo don't. In the end all each company is concerned about is profit and market share.

lol, you actually think that nintendo is going to continue this low graphics thing?, That was a strategic desicion made by nintendo so that they didn't lose money on the wii if it failed since it was a huge risk in the first place.

Because Wii Sports and Trauma Center would be much more fun with a standard controller.

So Nintendo just goes around pulling strings with it's cusomters hearts.  Here this gen we're gonna give you crappy graphics.  Next Gen it's graphical powerhouse.  Guess what Ninty says it what the sheep will listen to.

I was thinking more along the lines of Nintendo attempting to create a system that could sell at a low price and still be fun...

Yes I know.....I made a thread about the Wii being Nintendo's last ditch effort in the console industry about a month or two ago.  Nintendo made an inferior console out of necessity, and (i'm sure to their surprise) enough people are eating it up.

not entirely true, they could have made a powerful console, they strageically chose not to. They were not going bankrupt or anything, they were actually making a huge profit off of the gamecube even at the price drop of $99. Not to mention their handheld sectors. but yes, they needed to something different to dominate the console sector.

Nintendo has more than enough money to make a graphical powerhouse. The didn't need to make one, they chose not to.

I'm not talking about them having enough money.....(They've been swimming in handheld cash forever now)

But are you serious.....If they would have released a traditional console to go head to head with the 360 and PS3 it would have been crushed instantly w/o any doubt.

yeah - i dont care what you think Vandal, you're wrong on this one. Trauma or Wii sports on anything less than a wiimote or stylus would suck ass. and don't bring your highschool subjective / objective crap in to this. try taking it up a notch.

Are you telling me it's equally as fun to press a button to hit a ball rather than actually mimicking the movement and getting the same effect? In my experience, I've found that my friends and I enjoy playing Wii Sports rather than Virtua Tennis.

That's why they didn't release a power console. They learned from the Gamecube.

How can being tied up and hit with whipes be fun? Some people enjoy that. Obviously, different people enjoy different things.

I doubt you've played Trauma Center Vandal, it'd impossible to play it with a standard controller, as for the extravagant button thing I could say the mouse is a extravagant analog stick.

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="3picuri3"] how can 2 games that were designed for motion / stylus play be more fun without them? explain that to me -- i honestly think the honus is on you hombre. get your posse if you think im wrong.3picuri3

How can being tied up and hit with whipes be fun? Some people enjoy that. Obviously, different people enjoy different things.

how does that have anything to do with being tied up and whipped -- man, what did you take tonight?

It is simple. Fun is subjective. you can't tell someone, "That would be less fun" because some people might enjoy a standard interface. Subjective raelities =/= fact.

Really? I was abhorishly bored by the extravagant button that didn't change anything.

Because Wii Sports and Trauma Center would be much more fun with a standard controller.

Prove to me the subjective idea of "fun" would be any less on a standard controller.

Are you telling me it's equally as fun to press a button to hit a ball rather than actually mimicking the movement and getting the same effect? In my experience, I've found that my friends and I enjoy playing Wii Sports rather than Virtua Tennis.

Why do masochists exist? Obviously some people have "fun" and "enjoy" different things.

Exactly! A lot of people like motion-sensing controllers over standard controllers.

I doubt you've played Trauma Center Vandal, it'd impossible to play it with a standard controller, as for the extravagant button thing I could say the mouse is a extravagant analog stick.

And why couldn't I just control the scalpel and stuff with a standard joystick and use buttons to perform the functions?

my point exactly dullard - that's why Ninty didn't make a freaking tie you up and whip you console - they made a fun one that millions of people appreciate. get a grip, you're in the minority, get used to it.

yeah - i dont care what you think Vandal, you're wrong on this one. Trauma or Wii sports on anything less than a wiimote or stylus would suck ass.

Prove to me it would be any less "fun".

How would you go about proving such a thing?

I didn't know a majority opinon = fact. Its still a subjective opinion that you can not prove to be a universal truth. Some people might prefer a standard controller.

I've been worried that since companies love to copy each other, that if the Wii gains a significant market share, the next round of consoles will be following suit. If the main goal of console developers becomes price point and not hardware power, it could lead to not-that-much-more-powerful-but-cheap round of consoles next gen.

I'd hate to think that we're going to be missing out on better graphics and smarter AI in the next round just because eveyone wants to mimic Nintendo's success.

yeah, thats much more fun.......... have you ever played the game? i'd give you a freaking medal of solid gold if you could finish the game with standard analog, without the game being altered.

you obviously just don't GET the Wii. so whatever, go play PoS3. it must be lonely.

Double defterea would be impossible with a standard controller, the you only level you'd complete with a standard controller would the tutorial. Some games need extravagant buttons to be fun, some just plain need them. And the Wii-mote is capable of being more than extravagant button.

Hey, once I say theres a possibility that some people might have "more fun" on a standard controller you bash me for it? Its still an opinion thats just as valid.

So why can't it be done with a standard controller? Knock up the sensativity and lower difficulty level.

Well you know Sony and Nintendo could come up with their own innovative ideas like Nintendo to make their new systems a run away success. They don't HAVE TO COPY
