They don't need to "win me back." I'm fine with them as they are. They've released quite a few games this gen that I've enjoyed.

I think they should just focus on making Dragon Quest X very good at the moment and localized in the US lol
Stop **** on the Hitman series. Hitman isn't Splinter Cell, it is an open world, sand box game. You move in, perform a hit, then figure out how to leave.
Scrap Lightning returns and put full effort into finishing Versus XIII (which at this point you might as well rename it to FFXV)
or make a prequel to FFX where you play as Lord Braska, Jecht and Auron and follow Lord Braskas pilgrimage and learn the full story of how Jecht became Sin
Really? I played FF6 for the first time ever just a couple years ago, and I thought it was brilliant. Technically, they also already remade FF6 for the Game Boy Advance, though it was more of an enhanced port than anything else.I feel the same way about an FFVI remake. Nostalgia fans would be in for a shock when they realise the game isn't all that.
Sphire
For me,they need to make better RPGs.
Maybe another Chrono game...
And take risks, develop more different games.
No,i'm not gonna say remakes of old FF games.

Bravely Default is one of my most anticipated games of all time and even that is an understatement

The game is amazing and the best thing to come out from Square in years
They never lost me. Very happy with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman: Absolution, Final Fantasy XIII series and the new Tomb Raider looks great.

I'm with you loosy.
This game looks amazing.
Seriously, they have to stop raping the Hitman series. For years I thought Contracts was the black sheep, but Absolution was a disaster.

FF7 REMAKE
da_illest101
I honestly think this would only serve to piss people off.
If they change too much then people will hate it.
If they put out the same game, but with up to date graphics many people will see that FFVII really isnt all that great and be sorely disappointed. Amazing for its time, but sub-standard in every way these days.
NOBODY will be happy with the voice acting lol. And I imagine instead of being true to the game, SE will go full fan service and make it tough to stomach.
If they do remake it I would only want a visual upgrade with bug fixes. Keep the set camera angles, keep with the matte painted backgrounds (redone of course), even leave voice acting out altogether. Just give me the original game, but make it look amazing!
I'm sure most fans would disagree though and SE probably wouldn't go that route anyways.
yeah I disagree, there are some games when I replay years after I wondered what ai liked about them in the first place or it wasn't has good as remember, but I didn't have that problem with FF VII. I still think it's combat system is one of the best ever made. I still don't want a remake though, I want to play new games not old ones. FF XIII was the first major title that I hated, every one can have a bad game.
I also replayed FFVII recently and enjoyed it a lot. Not just for the nostalgia of it all either.
I wasn't necessarily speaking for myself in that post. Not until the last bit of it anyways.
Its a fact that everything FFVII did was done better at some point afterwards (and some aspects even before if you look at FFVI) by other games in the genre. And done so over and over again. You may personally think it has the one of the best battle systems ever. That doesn't make it true. I LIKE IT. But that doesn't mean the majority of others will feel the same. Of course the battle system is only one aspect of many and I wasn't really trying to focus on that. As a matter of fact, I think that would be the least of my worries regarding a remake of the game.
FFVII is in my top 20 favorite games of all time and I've been gaming for over 25 years. I'm not trying to be a hater here. Just being realistic. When they first showed that FFVII tech demo I was probably more excited about it than most. But after really thinking about it, I'm not so excited at all.
Anyways. An eventual remake of the game is almost inevitable, so I guess we'll see how it pans out.
i just want a return to form, their current path is self destructive.
Give us back the glory days the snes-ps1. Or atleast something comparable.
I think that's what most fans really want.
Yeah, Releasing Bravery Default outside of Japan would make me appreciate the hell out of SE (Assuming I like the game of course. Looks great though)
That being said, I really don't hate SE or find them to be horrible like others. They definitely aren't as good as Squaresoft was, and they've certainly fumbled about quite a bit this gen but they'rehas still been some good to comeout of SE. The Dissidia games (great and unique combat system), DQIX, TWEWY, FFXII, and despite being an overall poor game there were still a few things I liked about FFXIII. Recently they;ve become a great publisher too; really enjoyed Deus Ex: HR, and I've heard great things about Sleeping Dogs.
SE's biggest problem all comes down to the management on the development side. SE definintely has some talent on their team, they just can't really seem to captilize on it as much as they should be. From all the issues that came from developing the white engine to them announcing massive amounts of games, too announcing FF Versus WAAAAY tooo early, etc, the management has been handled poorly.
What anime is your sig from?Chrono Trigger HD. Make it happen.

i'd like to see something more like the earlier final fantasy games.

FF9 is my favourite due to the art style, but i 100% agree after that FF reminded nothing of the older ones
That is why i am so hyped for Bravely Default

It doesn't take much to please finalfantasy94.
Not an insult, but I've only seen him express distaste in one game... ever.
Just do what they did throughout the 90s.
Make great games in a reasonable amount of time. 2-3 year development cycles that yield gold.
I know they've always been about the tech, but it wasn't always at the top of their priorities. If they have to tone the graphics down to deliver a better game with more content then so be it.
Beyond that, they need to quit thinking that their sh*t doesn't stink. The writing continues to get worse and worse. The stories continue to get more pretentious and pseudo-intellectual. They take themselves far too seriously. Lighten up and come back down to earth, or hit the streets. When millions of your fans get a bad taste in their mouths maybe your "artistic vision" isn't all that.
And please god, put a tight leash on Nomura, or tell him to move on. Some people are more useful when they under someone elses guidance, or have a strong counter-voice. Nomura is one of those people. His designs suck. Both his character designs and his game design. Hes an extremely talented individual, but he should not have full reign the he does.
Basically it all boils down to this. SE needs firm management with a clear sense of direction. It would alleviate all of their issues.

I don't hate everything he ever did. I just hate what he does now. Which is why I said he needs guidance and/or a counter-voice.
This applies to many talented people. George Lucas would be a prime example. And to a lesser extent, Kojima as well. You can have mad talent and great ideas yet blindly go in a wrong direction. Even the best artists and designers usually seek out criticism from their peers.
The mind has a way of "fixing" things for you and a fresh pair of eyes is often necessary.
Yet Nomura runs wild over at SE with nobody to really check him. I think he did great work in his early years with Square when he was more of a trench worker, but hes not really a good chief at all.
Edit: Also, this is beside the point, but it is entirely possible to hate something while still respecting the work/talent that went into it.
Nomura isn't the problem here Conan, it's company management as a whole.
ReadingRainbow4
I understand that. I even said it in my post. Nomura was just one point I brought up. And even then it is not the fault of Nomura, but the fault of the company for giving him free reign.
So I agree.

He is talanted. He works at a big-ass company. Conan is just stating that while he's a sharp guy, he shouldn't be the lead of a department.Pretty much. And there is nothing wrong with that. I've done very well at most jobs I've had, but in no way am I leadership material. Some people have it, some don't.
For a polar opposite example, look at Sakaguchi. Hes an outstanding project lead, but when it comes to him fiddling around with the inner workings, or smaller specific roles, he doesn't do too well... maybe not the best example, but it is what it is.
Reboot Actraiser in its original concept... that is the only way. I refuse to respect a company that has one of my favorite games on a dusty shelf while every current SE franchise isn't half the game... These are my demands.
