Fear of buyer's remorse, with a fair share of ego thrown in.
Human beings tend to identify themselves with what they possess. They often consider their belongings as an extension of themselves.
So when they are confronted with people who made a different choice, they feel the need to justify their own decision, and when they feel that someone is questioning their judgement, they consider it as a form of aggression. The contradictor is perceived as trying to destroy their identity.
I honestly think it's something that affects us all, to a certain extent, and recognize that when I'm not paying attention I indulge in it gleefully. However, I want to believe that I generally know better than to challenge other people's opinions on what is their favourite form of entertainment.
The main reason why I come here, is because it's a very good place to find news about this industry that I like so much. Fanboys are always on the lookout for the possibility of ownage, therefore this is often the first place were I get interesting news.
Oh, and it's delightful to annoy them consolites talking about their obsolete hardware and dumbed down games, of course.
System Wars board is driven buy fanboyism which is thinking that what you like is the best without exceptions.
In Real life the System Wars is 1st Party developers wanting to get the most market share.
So in real life Competition drives the system wars.
On the Board hate for the other systems and love for your own system.
all of the above?
Every thing in the poll is a valid reason to come here, but it can all be simplified down to if their is a demand for arguments then they will happen regardless of there being a system wars to have them in this is why system wars was created.
Everyone that just says "the fanboys," this is what makes them fanboys. And I agree that it affects everyone, some more than others. But also, everyone thinks everyone else is more guilty of it than they are. Some people take it to the flat out extreme, although it should be clear to anyone that the most extreme claims around here are either fakeboys or straight up trolling/baiting for the lols.Fear of buyer's remorse, with a fair share of ego thrown in.

At the end of the day, SW is one of the fastest ways to get news, debating is fun, and there's almost always some laughs to be had.
Ego? nah
People care because of buyers remorse, they wan't to prove that their purchase was worth it and that they made the right decision compared to other people who never made the same decision they did. Simple as thatXileLord
Not simple as that at all..I dont compare what I have to anyone. Could care less what others buy with their money. What drives SW is 1. People like to come in stir up trouble. Always nice to put something down that people have instead of praising it.....2. Some people "me" come in here to try and control the hate even if sometimes we come off as fanboys at the time its actually a strategy in doing so. There is no real other reason to come here.
I'm 99% sure it's alcohol. mrmusicman247
Love it when the first posts nails it.
I'd say entertainment. Sure there are people here for all the reasons TC listed, but I think overall the most popular reason to come around SW is that people like to talk about their favorite hobby. And the comparitively few fanboys really help drive conversations along.
