Can someone quite simply explain why Gears going to the PC negatively impacts the 360 in any way, shape or form? Anybody? Anybody at all? Because nobody has, in any of the million threads on this subject. I'm still waiting for anybody to give a single logical reason as to how the 360 got "owned" by porting a good game to the PC a year later.

And it probably would've been more "ownage" to bring up the 30% failure rate before Microsoft came out and extended all warranties by three years and offered free repairs for all consoles. You know, it might've had a bigger impact before that announcement.

it's the fact that some lemmings were touting that Gears is ONLY on the 360 PC will never get it. And thats why when it got ported cows and hermits cried lemming ownage because yet another 360 "exclusive" is coming to the PC. It's been happening with alot of 360 "exclusive" game wich I think is sad.

"Their 'hoax' of faulty 360s was actually confirmed by Microsoft with an extended warranty and free fixes."

By having the 360 be fixed for free and extending the warranty to 3 years it totaly negates the issue of failure rates. You get a free fix, it is no longer a big deal.

"If your disk drive goes dead after a year, you still have to pay"

Uhh and how many people have had disk drives issues with their 360?

all I hear are crickets and tumbelweeds go by.

Exactly. Gears of War is one less exclusive as its now a multiplat. A multiplat with better graphics, extras, and a better online map making system on the PC.

If your 360 breaks twice in a year that means youre 360 is out of commission for 4-8 weeks, including email time, waiting for a coffin, shipping it, waiting for repairs, and waiting for it to be shipped back. That means that you wont be gaming for 1/12 - 1/6 of the year because of it breaking. But who cares if you cant play it for 3 weeks when the repairs are free right?

yah, that would be the highest ownage for the 360 if it wasnt for microsoft owning up to it, and making warrantys longer and refunds.Dabunzie

they didn't have much choice... I mean they could have owned up to it before now... but once the news pegged them... they had two choices make potential customoers less likey to buy one... or own up to it, and try to get some good faith back.

Seriously, Gears going to PC isn't a big deal. People did know forever that it would eventually. It still could be '08 before it is even released so.. Yeah.

Theres no point of doing a weekly roundup E3 is around the corner.

numba1234
It isn't a major deal. Really? I would think your biggest exclusive, being more superior on another system would be a big deal.

As long as it's console exclusive, it doesn't matter. GeoW isn't going to sell PC's. It will, however, still sell 360's. Ownage denied!

Or they could have been like Sony and denied issues for years and only acknowledged the hardware issues with the PS2 once a lawsuit was filed against them. At least MS is taking care of their customers before they have to file a lawsuit.

So because a few fanboys said Gears would never go to the PC, that means that the 360, in general, got owned by Gears going to the PC. Gotcha.

Regardless, both Gears going to the PC and the 360's failure rate have been known for months, so why would they be owning the 360 this week?

Oh sorry did I see a Linux version of Gears? No. Its still Microsoft. Fail.

Are you trying to deny Gears of Wars multiplatform-ness? :| Do you also think Bioshock, Huxley, Lost Planet and all the other 360/PC games are still 360 exclusives? :| Because there's no such thing as a Microsoft exclusive. If I can play the game on more than 1 platform, it's multiplatform.

Microsoft exclusive  The new cry of the lemmings.

"Microsoft exclusive The new cry of the lemmings."

No one has ever cared about console games going over to the PC, it has happened over the years and is a NON event. But on the other hand Sony exclusives going to another CONSOLE is a different story. As people now can spend less money than the pathetic over priced PS3, to play an online version of VF5, or Ace Combat which is not on the PS3, or DiRT which is delayed on the PS3 or Metal of Honor which is also delayed on the PS3, or maybe you want to play football games in 60FPS well that's not going to happen this year on the PS3. These are much bigger deals then an 360 game going to the PC over a year after it was released.

Agree it sounds pretty stupid.

If microsoft don't make a decent profit from the 360 they will be forced to withdraw themselves from the console wars. Honestly microsoft have big profits, but they don't have the biggest revenue. They aren't used to having big losses.

Turn this into a poll dangit.

BTW, xbox 360 got owned more. That's a high failure rate.

Tarmgar

we all knew it was a high failure rate. Microsoft admitting it and taking responsibility for it is a good thing, not a bad one.
